You will receive 1 Black Bokken and 1 Natural Bokken, both with samurai katana sword style handle wrapping (tsuka ito).

These 40" daitos are ideal practice swords to safely practice your sword skills while protecting yourself and partners. Constructed from hardwood and includes two piece hand guard. Great for training!

Bokken is a training sword, used as a relatively safe and inexpensive substitute for a real blade in several martial arts. They are used in the early stages of iaido when a practitioner has not yet reached the level where use of a iaito would be safe. The exception would be when a certain kata involving two people is performed. Then the veteran iaidoka will use a bokken for safety reasons.

Over all this was a good product. they look pretty nice. their weights are almost perfectly matched to my katana, they were delivered on time and they are pretty studsy for some good practice. The reason I couldn't a five out of five is because there was a petty large chip on the natural bokken. so I was pretty disappointed but I expected it free m reading the other reviews. it's and easy fix anyway just get some super glue. I'm very happy with this though and I will definitely order more from Trueswords. PS Try putting bubble wrap on the ends it may help a ton! ;)

**CAUTION** I purchased this set several months back for kata practice and sparring purposes. Arrived on time with everything neatly packed, noticed the black bokken had what appeared to be a superficial crack running from the kissaki down the spine about 18 inches where another seemingly superficial crack ran from a knot in the middle of the spine all the way down remaining length of the bokken where the natural bokken was just fine, though the tsuba moves up and down a lot during practice because the stopper doesn't fit properly but that isn't a big deal. During a sparring session, however, things went badly. Both held up relatively well the first time. But during the second occasion, the black bokken split in three places around the kissaki, split about 1/3 of the way along the spine and blew out in a couple places along the ha and the ito came undone halfway up the tsuka. Keep in mind we weren't swinging these things like clubs, trying to smash eachothers' bones. This was a light-contact kumitachi and it COMPLETELY FAILED while parrying a strike. Luckily nobody was injured. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE BOKKEN TO ANYONE. Clearly the quality control department behind whomever it is that makes these is either lax or incompetent and there's now way of knowing what the quality of the bokken will be when you order. Do yourself a favor and shell out a few extra bucks and get solid red oak bokuto from a well-known kendo or budo retailer. The only reason I give these two stars is because nobody was hurt and they are well shaped and weighted for a good approximation of a live, carbon steel katana.

I have had these training swords for 2 years now and they have only encountered a couple of problems. The tan one had a lot of black marks all over it but you would expect that from a black sword hitting the tan one. There is a tinny bit of chipping at the tips of the swords. And the biggest problem on multiple occasions the grips stared falling off where I had to burn them together. but know I just duck taped over them because they were annoying. But over all for 16 bucks its great fun with friends.

These Bokken are very solid and have at or a little above the weight of the real blade and make excellant training aids. The wrap on the handle gives the feeling of holding a live blade. These Bokken seem to flow onto my Katana rack and blend right in, well worth the price. I would also like to thank True Swords for solid products at a low price and customer service that is second to NONE! 5 stars all the way.

I like them both, but the only problem was the natural bokken was chipped.

Good buy definetly have to buy more...wrapping was incredibly loose making the glue kinda pointless...still worth another buy or two though

Very good for the price! When I received them they were in perfect condition (minus 2 small flaws: on the natural one the wrapping was a bit off and there was a small smear of metallic paint on it). They seem extremely durable; and mine had no problem with the hand guard fitting! I haven't sparred with them yet; I mostly got hem for show, which they do very well! I'll just have to face the wooden one on the side with no paint on it. The black bokken feels heavier than the natural, but that is probably because of the paint. But for 16 bucks for 2 bokken, you can't really complain! Good for show or to practice with! Will definitely be buying from True Swords again for some katanas!
