Decent sword. It will stand up great to another rapier but not a katana or heavy duty blade, though this style of sword isn't supposed to. It is slightly difficult to get in and out of its sheath. It is not sharp at all, not even the tip. I do not recommend sharpening it as it should primarily be used as a training/display weapon.
The hilt can be a little unstable, so it takes a little tinkering to get it to stay. The blade is dulled, which is good, since it prevents accidents. It is a beautiful sword and a nice addition to any collection.
excellent piece for the money spent. the guard was a little wobbly at first, but if you twist the knob at the bottom of the hilt, it tightens and fixes the problem. although it isnt as light as most rapiers, it makes a beautiful collection piece. it looks even nicer if some form of polish or sealing is put on the guard to shine it and to prevent flaking.
I'm no expert on swords, but I wasn't impressed by this product. It may serve well as an ornament, but not so as a weapon; the blade can't support its own length, and a considerable measure of metal would be lost trying to give this piece an edge. If you're looking for a sword to put on display, just watch out for the flaking paint (it will start coming off the first time you hold it), but practitioners looking for a real weapon: best look elsewhere.
This was the first product I purchased from True swords. This is not a bad sword. It is a very hansom piece. Feels great when you whip it out of the sheath. Makes a good clean swishing sound when swung in the air. However, this is not a slashing sword. It is a fencing style sword, which requires a straight lunging motion. The blade is very wobbly and the hand cage is not very well built. When I stabbed it into the ground, a piece of the metal cage just fell off. BE CAREFUL, THIS IS IS A SPORTY SWORD, NOT A RAMPAGE SWORD!! Another concern is that the black paint on the handle will start to strip due to the oil in your hands, leaving inconvenient silver strands and speckles in the handle. Over all, this is a nice looking, good feeling, SPORTY sword. Handle with care
okay so I got this sword today in the mail and all in all i was not disappointed. The blade itself was a little thinner than I anticipated and the basket hilt was larger in diameter and circumference than I had though. Some minor fixes with the acrylic on the basket hilt but nothing a sharpie or some paint can't fix. The scabbard is somewhat flimsy but will straighten out once you put the sword in it. And the scabbard fits fine in the frog I ordered for it as well. I thought it would slip out but it fits perfectly. I will be ordering more from Trueswords for sure.
Slight difficulty getting the last centimeter into the sheath but overall this is a beautiful piece of art. Highly recommended!
Great sword for display. A little loose in the hilt area and had to do some twinking with sheath to have the sword fit. But fantastic product for price, did a lot of shopping around and this was the best buy. Highly recommended.
ABout the best rapeir I've seen for the price. It function [erfectlt as I was hoping, most of the weight is at the handle allowing complete control over all your thrusts. The bade itself lasks ANY edge, its falt, but the tip is very pointy. The basket is also very elegant. Everything is solid and the blade has a nice spring even when stabbed into a tree. Only problem I had was that the sheath was limp but really the blade is perfect and that is all that matters.
