High carbon steel, unsharpened handmade Iaito designed for heavy training use. This sword has the same weight and balance of your "battle ready" katana without the sharp edge.

The 1045 high carbon blade is polished and designed to look just like its sharpened counterparts. The blade is full tang and secured with dual bamboo pegs. Your Iaito can be taken apart for care, display, or demonstration.

The hardwood handle is using real ray skin and features a tight cord wrapping. All traditional parts have been used, including high quality copper tsuba and fittings, and brass collar and seppa.

This sword is ideal for training and practice use, and is also suitable for plays, movies, and reenactment use where a sharpened blade would be too dangerous.

I just got a pair of these swords today, and instantly fell in love with them. I wanted some swords meant for taking and dealing some damage. The instant I held them, I knew I made the right choice in buying them. I did and do read the reviews of every item I'd like to purchase from here. Most reviews said nothing but good things about this item, so I was compelled to purchase it. These are my first battle ready swords, and the heaviness I felt from holding them made me think of the first sword I owned. It was very nostalgic, which made me love these swords even more. My first swords are much lighter, so it feels like I'm starting over again. I can't wait to start training with these. Thank you, TrueSwords, and a special thanks to Geraldine who packaged them.

I got this sword and it is pretty darn awesome! I love it because when it is raining outside I can swing this one in the house instead of my sharpened katana I got from this website which would be way too dangerous. This katana is very awesome and I recommend it to anyone who has to have a real practice katana for inside practice or for inside kata practice or for non deadly self defense.

Purchased this iaito several months back. It's held up really well, it's perfect for kata practice. Few really minor imperfections; the dye on the ito has rubbed off a bit so it's kind of a grayish color and not the black it was when I first unpacked it, one of the menuki is placed down by the kashira, and the same is wrinkled so it sometimes scrapes my palm but otherwise it's a fantastic training tool, especially considering the price. Got my eye on the wakizashi iaito next!

The sword is beautiful and well balanced. My only qualm is that fhe cotton storage bag has a must smell to it and it seems to have imparted that to the scabbard and cotton wrap on said scabbard. Other than that, I am very pleased with the speed of the service quality of the blade. I will be purchasing more swords from True Swords.

LOVE this sword :D Its nearly perfect for what I need it for. delivered right on time as expected as always. trueswords has never let me down ^^ I may have to re-wrap the hilt after a few months of use though. but thats not the swords fault. its mine, practicing 3-5 hours a day :P it handles exactly like a real katana minus the edge. only complaint I have is that the tip is still vey very pointy. if that was rounded a bit more it would be absolutely perfect. maybe I can fix that myself though, idk. anyways. Its stunning how awesome this simple Iaito is for a measly $50. the musashi/musha brand is simply the best! and Im glad I order their products from the best online retailer! :) arigatou gozimasu trueswords.com! ^^

The sword came promptly and I was kept informed on its progress through the shipping process. I am not an expert on swords myself and cannot speak too much towards the quality of it beyond a layman's understanding, but it is a solid sword and is relatively unmarked - only upon close inspection did I see minor scrapes (which is the only reason this was given 4 instead of 5 out of 5). I would recommend this to anyone who's in my situation - buying an item more for aesthetic purposes than functional ones - but I'm not qualified to actually say whether or not this sword would hold up in a more-functional setting.

Got this to replace my other Musashi Iaito after the saya on it broke (it was pushed off a stage and the saya hit the ground on a corner.... swords, even when bagged, and misguided children do not mix). You really can't beat these iaito for the price. Blade is nice, and fittings are sturdy. Of course I'm going to have to retie the sageo for a proper way to attach it to my hip, but that's of little concern. The tsuka-ito may need to be re-wrapped at some point as well. It moved around quite a bit on my last one. But again, no big deal. Only thing I don't like is that the blade rattles in the sheath a bit when moved side-to-side. Though I certainly was not expecting perfection for a $50 dollar sword. looks great with the wakizashi iaito.
