I forgot to mention that you have to wax or grease the blade (including the edge) to keep it from rusting. I use "Frog Oil" - actually the grease. Just ball up a heavy rag and put some grease on the rag, then rub the ball over the edge - just be careful to not touch the blade - let the rag do the work.
I just got this machete and as usual the quality is very good. Both sides are reasonably sharp, I will hit the edge with my fine stone to make it a little sharper, but it came fairly sharp. Most people will use it as it is.
Delivery was fairly quick - about 5 days.
You cant go wrong with the Cold Steel brand.
The blade on this sword is thin, so its lightweight enough for even those who aren't very strong to wield it. Unfortunately this makes it weaker than a regular gladius which is why the metal can break if you are not careful. The blade is sharp, its slightly evenly sharpened, but its well balanced too. Five star is for a perfect blade. I still recommend this one because at this price, its a great deal.
It is very nice looking, good black finish and silver outlines. It's somewhat heavy, but not to a great extent. The handle will only fit one hand, in case you are wondering. Blade is pretty big and well-balanced.
Very cool! I was expecting a small machete but what arrived was a very intimidating sword. It is heavier than I expected and there isn't much weight in the handle to balance the blade but I don't see much fencing in my future so it's fine by me. It also arrived very quickly. Not my first purchase from true swords and definitely not my last.
WARNING: DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER TO TAKE OFF STICKER! I should have listened to another reviewer who created a natural solvent but I didn't :( my fault. The paint is very cheap, but after a (lot) of work with a sander I should be able to take off most of the existing paint to put nicer paint on it. Other than that, I love it. The handle is just simple plastic, so no bells and whustles there but the rest of it is good. Came fairly sharp, you can tell it was grinded in their shop. I'm fairly pleased (other than the cheap finish). I would recommend, just be wary when taking off the sticker because it REALLY doesn't want to leave.
The weight of this Machete is rather comfortable to wield, and the design of the pommel makes it easier to swing and not slip out of my sweaty hands.
The one small (yet important, I think) problem I had with mine is that the round pommel actually cracked right at the bottom, and if I'm not careful it would surely crumble with the right force. I'm not sure if it's happened upon delivery or what, but aside from that I perceive this to be a very fateful companion.
I absolutely love it. There were tiny flaws though. First it came with a big sticker on the blade saying it was from cold steel and made in south africa or maybe it was just africa i dont remember (trueswords does not sell counterfits and all of their cold steel products are legit) But heres a little trick just rub olive, peanut, or vegetable oil over the sticker and let it sit for a min and it will peel right off. Also where the edge is sharpened, in some places there was black paint instead of being shiny. but i have a whetrock and i just cleaned it up a little and by the time i was done it looked perfect. Very sharp edge and 1055 is great steel. The balance and the handle are great. Also where the blade meats the handle there are no gaps so water cant get in and thats great for when you clean it so that water doesnt rust it from the inside out. Took 4 days for it to get here which is pretty good. Love the customer service from trueswords and overall i give the sword and trueswords a 10/10, always love buying from them.
good machete hard to keep the triangular part of blade sharp but i love it
Great purchase. This sword/machete is totally badass. Sturdy and comes sharp. Very satisfied.
