I got this like a year and a half ago and it is still good to go. The blade is kind of flimsy but works wonders suprisingly. Also the handle is some kind of hard plastic. This concerned me at first but after almost two years it is exactly the same even after hours of chopping. I did file down the blade a few times, because all that chopping dulled it. But this is a good deal.
This machete is very long, but a thin blade. Your paying the same price, as you would at Walmart, for at least four times the blade. This thing cut's through the thickest, of vines in no time. It can bend easy, but it bends, even easier back into place. No cons for the price.
Well, this is my first Cold Steel sword/machete, and it came dull as a rock :(, but luckily I bought the Accusharp with it. Sharpened it from like 20 min, then gave it the fabled "Water Bottle test", first try, one handed swing almost went through, just a bit of plastic left, second try, two handed swing, all the way through! Light, good to hold, sturdy, but some-what dull, (If you have the accusharp this isn't a problem).
little bent tip but the absolute best customer service have not tried it out yet will have too let ya know how it holds up my cold steel test
When I first got the machete, I was actually surprised how long the blade was, and because of that, it has the extra reach you might need.Although the sharpness of the blade was not razor, it is good enough, especially for its size! And the steel quality is some of the best you can find in machetes, because even if you bend it, it'll go straight back into alignment.Onto the handle, I honestly wish the handle was a bit bigger, but that's okay, because it is a firm and safe handle, and will never break or let go of the blade. And after a few weeks of using it to chop wood, clear brush, and using it for camping, it's still in good shape!A machete like this one will last you practically forever, because it's almost indestructible, and can take tons and tons of abuse!Although it does not come with a sheath, i'm happy with this product. I'm considering getting the sheath for it later, because after I honed the edge a bit with a bevel grinder, stones, and the accusharp, it started getting wickedly sharp! I HIGHLY recommend this item to anyone looking for a great long-lasting, low-priced machete.I give this machete 5/5 for great price, high functionality, and sturdiness.
This is a wonderful tool. I have had it for around 3 months and it has a few dings in it but i did those clearing a fence row. It came to me very sharp not razor but very sharp. for the price its almost perfect i will probably be ordering more of these.
Not sharp but it does not need to be because of its massive blade length. This is like the machete that Jason uses in Friday The Thirteenth.
This product deserves a five! But sadly I can not give it a five, The blade arrived and had quite a few nick and scratches on it. The sticker was on the blade and was quite hard to get off, I had to use GooGone to remove it. The blade was not that sharp either. BUT... This is an AMAZING buy for only $10!!! I took it outside and cut down some big weeds we had growing and in only one slice they were gone. Now this is after I sharpened it and filed down the nicks on the blade. My accusharp would not work on this either, The blade is 1. Too thick. 2. to many imperfections 3. The black color came off on the sharpener. But other than that this is an AMAZING BLADE!!!! I would recommend it to everyone!
Well I bought this machete about 9 months ago, it never really occurred to me to write a review until now, so here goes. This machete has served me very well, and with the help of the Accusharp sharpener it is one of the very best machetes around for clearing brush and all manner of light vegetation. I have used this machete on wood and it has proven to be very effective, going so far as to cut down about 6 full sized trees (not recommended). It easily hacks through branches of all sizes. My only complaints are that after I used this thing to do the heavy work, the blade came out bent and I have found it impossible to bend it back, and the sticker that is attached to the blade must be carefully removed or you will have this extremely annoying sticky square on there and it will take lots of use to wear it off. The steel is very strong and flexible and will stay in the handle through anything. All in all, I strongly recommend this machete to anybody who has problems with vegetation or just likes to cut things up.
so far so good, the machete seems like a pretty good piece for working out sound. I am sure I'll be satisfied.
