This distinctive folder is based on the historical Greek kopis sword. The blade is constructed from AUS-8A stainless steel and features a thumb plate that can be used in quickly opening the knife. This folder incorporated the patented and rigorously tested Tri-Ad locking mechanism that vastly increases the safe operation of this knife. The injection molded, contoured Grivory handle offers steel liners for strength and is heavily textured for a superb grip. Includes dual pocket clips to allow ambidextrous carry. 4 1/2" blade. 6" closed.
I have had this knife for a year now and i feel that i never need another knife again
Love this knife. This is my very first Cold Steel knife and it is just awesome. Big, heavy duty, just needed some sharpening to get the edge, and I freakin love the heavy thunk when it opens. Only downside is the tri-ad lock, very high tension so it takes a little effort just to fold it close. Other than that its an amazing knife.
Love this knife!!! It feels great in hand. Grip is great. My experience with Cold Steel Knives is that they are better than any other knife I've used.
I've had this knife for a few weeks now, and thus far I have been nothing if not pleased with it every day since its arrival. Cold Steel really goes above and beyond in their designing, testing, and manufacturing to produce for us a knife that was destined to impress.Everything about this knife is constructed crazy-strong. There are NO weak points! the joint is CS's patented TriAd lock, which can hold twice my weight on the end of the handle, when the blade is wedged in place (just check out the PROOF videos on youtube, by searching "Spartan - Cold Steel Knives"!)The bottom of the handle, I've found, also makes for a superb impact point, so if you're testing fighting tactics with this knife, you can strike with both ends. it does not matter your grip preference. One more thing: the Thumb Plate on the blade's spine, just above the joint, was really the selling feature for me, (besides the indestructible craftsmanship.) It allows for INSTANT deployment right out of your pocket, no matter what side or direction you carry it. It is also superior to Emerson's and Spyderco's version, which only catches the side of your pocket sometimes, unless you really put effort into it. I can use this increased-area plate to catch and deploy the blade EVERY time, with minimal effort in the draw.Thank you Cold Steel, and thank you TrueSwords, this purchase was more than worth my time and money!
My first thought upon opening the box, was "Dayum, that is a big f*cking knife".A few reviews I read stated that the handle section was too small and cramped the hand, but these must have been written by ogres because my hand had a good inch and half of clearance between the dividers. The blade is EXTREMELY sharp, when I first tried to close it the blade flicked down and barely tapped my finger, slicing it almost to the bone.My one disappointment, and it is kind of a big one, is that the blade is showing oxidization or rust (Not sure exactly what it is) after sitting in my pocket for one day. (Weather was not particularly warm so I was not sweating much either)All in all however, I am very pleased with this knife and am yet to find a Cold Steel product I was not satisfied with. I give it a 4 out of 5 (Would be 5/5 if not for the tarnishing)
all i have to say is holy crap this knife is amazing! first of it comes super razor sharp right out of the box. the handle is a mazing and feels great in the hand. the lok mech is a lock back with arnold swarzenager streangth. the only down side is rust resistance. not so good but easily fixed by just keeping away from moisture and mumidity, and keeping it in pockets away from the body so it doesnt get covered in sweat (salt water is steels kryptonite. its highly corrosive and speeds rust)
This is a serious knife - let there be no doubt about it. The blade is big (not massive) and has that nice curve to it. It came very sharp indeed right out of the box. The locking mechanism is very tight and extremely solid - which is the right way to do it. The handle is the only part of the knife I would change - believe it or not, but it's to small for me. I would've preferred it just a bit longer, as my 4 fingers are squished much to tight in there.Would I recommend this knife to others? Indeed, especially if you're serious about your own safety.. :)
This is an awesome blade. The only problems are that the lock is difficult to actuate and if you sweat a lot it is best to have something in your pocket to protect it from the sweat, as I discovered when it showed oxidation within an hour of being in my pocket on a hot summers day. But those are minor issues easily taken care of. The blade is extremely sharp. The handle is awesome, although when the blade is closed it looks bulkier than expected. Overall a good buy.
This is the 3rd blade made by Cold Steel I've purchased & I must say I was let down a bit. The very edge of this one came uneven. One side was steeper than the other. I tried not to think too much about it until I started using it and discovered it preformed poorer than expected. Every Cold Steel blade before this came VERY, VERY sharp. This one had trouble cutting everyday objects. I've tried to re-sharpen the edge with moderate improvement. I will say that the knife as a whole is a great bargain! I just wish I would have tried to exchange it for a new one before trying to fix the problem on my own.
