From Nintendo's release of "The Legend of Zelda" in 1986 to the extraordinarily famous anime show "Naruto Shippuden," a vast assortment of fictional characters and their weapons are highlighted in this list.

The Legend of Zelda Video Games

Back in 1986, Nintendo released the first Zelda video game entitled "The Legend of Zelda." It would go on to become so popular that Nintendo has released over 15 video games and has plans to release more. The game also generated an anime series spin-off show with the same name. The protagonist of the game, Link, is often charged with the task of saving Princess Zelda and the fictional city, Hyrule, from the antagonist, Gerudo. Throughout the series of games, Link has accessibilty to a variety of swords; although, the Master Sword (shown in the picture to the left) is widely considered to be his most famous.

Bleach Anime & Manga Series

Bleach and its characters are some of the most recognizable anime characters in the world. In 2013 Bleach sold an astonishing 82 million copies collectively. The plot of the series focuses on a teenage boy, Ichigo, and his various trials and tribulations that occur when he attempts to usher the souls of the dead to the "Soul Society" which is an afterlife realm. Ichigo is known for his exemplary hand-to-hand combat skills, as well as for his massive sword, a Zanpakuto, which are given to all soul reapers.

Naruto: Shippuden Anime & Manga Series

Naruto: Shippuden, or Hurricane Chronicles, is the second part of a highly acclaimed Japanese Manga and anime series, Naruto. The stars of the series are Naruto and Sakura, and their main objective is to capture Sasuke after he was banished from Konoha. Both characters are ninjas and are skilled combat fighters. Throughout their journey, they often use their shuriken and kunai as defensive alternatives to hand-to-hand combat.

Halo Video Games

The first "Halo" video game was released in late 2001 by Microsoft for the Xbox game console. Over the past 14 years, there have been over 50 million copies of various "Halo" series games sold. One of the popular melee weapons of the video game series is the Energy Sword. Each successful strike with the sword drains its "energy" by 10% until all the energy is depleted. Once used up, the Energy Sword is ineffective because the player cannot recharge the sword.
