High Satin finish, Razor-Sharp Cutting Edge

Let us be clear: the Hisshou, designed by James Williams, is a specialized tool that is intended for military personnel and special forces operators. James developed this design to meet the specific requests of coalition forces overseas for a more powerful tactical tool than his CRKT Hissatsuâ„¢, which is in wide use.

Historically, military swords have been sized to fit the fighting environment. Long swords, such as the English broad sword and Japanese katana, could only be used effectively on open fields of battle. Fighting in close or confined quarters required shorter swords, such as the sailor"s cutlass and the Japanese wakizashi, which is similar in size to the Hisshou.

The Hisshou comes into play when the operator"s firearms cannot be used, as often happens in entry and search operations. It is designed for multiple carry options depending on the choice of the operator.

The Hisshou"s 13" full-tang dual grind Tanto blade is YK-30 high-carbon steel, high satin finished. The long, tapered tip grind is designed for maximum slashing power combined with superior penetration. At 16.4 ounces, the Hisshou also offers superior slashing ability as compared to the Hissatsu.

James has followed centuries of Japanese tradition in designing the classic cord-wrapped handle with ray skin underlays, which compares very well to more modern handle materials, giving excellent grip under all conditions.

We have designed a custom Kydex® sheath with a patented* quick-release belt-mounting system for the Hisshou. The sheath has detents which grip the knife securely and wide entry lips which allow the knife to be returned to the sheath with one hand.

The belt clip can be attached with the Chicago screws provided for vertical or horizontal carry. Simply press in the injection-molded nylon retaining clip for instant attachment or release.

The Hisshou demands respect, and is certainly not a sport or work knife, but it can truly be a lifesaver for the military professional. This is a knife that would have been carried by the Samurai.

Was looking for a tanto/wakazashi more or less in the back of my mind. What I got with this is a timeless piece of art.

I have a few nice swords at this point and I wanted something more practical, something as a self defense tool.

Being a fan of japanese styled swords already, this is perfect. There are enough reviews on YT to help you decide if this is what you're looking for, but whether you know it now or not, it is :D

The blade is simply gorgeous and it came with a beautiful storage box. The shipping was fast and I have no complaints as of now.

This modern day sword is one of the best, sharpest, and most beatiful swords you can get for around $200. When using this blade be extremely careful it is the sharpest knife I have ever seen. I am a somewhat serious knife/sword collector and this Hisshou along with my Dragon Fly Wakazashi by Cold Steel are my favorites and gems of my collection/ arsenal. I actually cut my thumb severly while camping in the woods, while being an idiot and using this blade to open a target to shoot at with my 22-250 Remington. Only use this blade for serious or Life or death situations. The only draw back of this blade is the plastic guard that does not adequatly protect your hand if you are not trained or practiced with this blade. I believe this is the perfect model of what a deadly, affordable, and practical 21st century sword should be. Its design, accessability, and deathly beauty are perfect for present day self-defense on any battlefield with enemies within 20 feet with or without a gun.

This must be the greatest weapon in my arsenal. She did come with a heavy coat of green grease witch was easily wiped off and replaced with a nice coat of oil. once in hand you can feel the power and majesty in your hand of this blade, i wouldn't quite call it a sword though it is large in size but its still compact like a dagger. the blade is a bit heavy but easy to get used to, while practicing this blade will flow its a wonderful weapon the sheath it comes with is what i want all sheaths to be like it takes someone to draw it the blade WILL NOT fall out no matter how hard i shake it upside down it takes someone to draw the blade for it ever to come out this blade is perfect and i wish i could give it more than 5 stars thank you true swords

I am in love with this thing. Phenomenal craftsmanship is evident in the sword itself, the sheath it comes with, and the box to house the blade.

It is not as sharp as I imagined it would be, but I am comfortable with saying it could slice through anything put in front of it. The description simply could have led me to put too much thought into the quality of the edge.

The price put me off for a while, so I put the thought of purchasing this item aside. Now that I hold this outstanding piece in my hands, I regret waiting so long. Easily 5 stars.

You pay for what you get, it's an amazing quality sword and came razor sharp. I actually shaved with it one morning.

A great buy. I spent a little out of my price range to get it, but it was worth it. It came as sharp as advertised, and heavy for the size. The handle is made very nicely, like it's supposed to be, with the ray skin wrapped tightly around the metal, and the chord wrapped so tightly that I can't even budge it.

The shipping department was very prompt with the order. I ordered it on the 21st and it arrived two days later. The decorative box that comes with it is fantastic. Black with the gold writing and maroon lining with the perfect cutout shape for the blade. The sheath is where I find the only flaw with this particular product. The sheath attaches really well to my tactical vest, but the detachable piece only fits one way. And that's the only negative thing I have to say about it. As for the knife itself, I don't even feel comfortable calling the Hisshou a knife. It's somewhere between a tanto and a wakizashi. I think it's best to say that the Hisshou is in a class of it's own. The blade arrived about as sharp as I can it could be. The guard fits into the sheath perfectly and has great retention. You can really feel the heft of the blade, especially when you swing it. And the cord wrap is top notch as well, It's not coming off anytime soon. All things considered I'm more than happy with this product and it is worth the price

i love this sword! It's strapped to me now and it's perfect. Little side note the fuchi is different from pictured it's hard plastic with a nice wave pattern. The wrap is amazinly tight and gives a fantastic grip. The sheath is great holds the sword really well and the display case is beautiful. The cutting power is amazing for it's size and it takes and holds a great edge. I have no complaints whatsoever.
