Kendo, which is the modern martial art of Japanese fencing, developed from traditional techniques of Japanese swordsmanship known as kenjutsu. Since 1975 the goal of Kendo has been stated by the All Japan Kendo Federation as "to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana (the Japanese standard two handed sword)". However, Kendo combines martial arts values with sport elements, with some practitioners stressing the former and others the latter. This 44" solid bamboo sword is designed for use as either a practice sword or a lightweight fighting tool. If you do not foresee a bamboo duel in your future, the unique design of this weapon makes for a superb conversation piece.

Bushido Musashi - High Carbon Steel Unsharpened Iaito Katana
Kind of small as far as shinai go, and something inside started rattling after a little rough sparring. Not the worst in the world; they haven't broken yet.It would help if True Swords would indicate the size (i.e. children's, women's, men's) for these items. I'm pretty sure mine were sized for women; most shinai I've handled were larger..
Very good as I expected. I own a few other Shinais' and this has the best quality. Alot of people say there pieces of it break but thats just because there not using it right. So far i've use my Shinai during martial arts training against 10 other people and not one thing has broken yet.
Just received this in the mail and I think its great looking. Authentic and useful for training. I hope to get some use out of it during my theatrical plays or even just using it in dance sessions. Awesome True Swords. Much Appreciated.
I bought 3 of these in total and so far they work great, very durable to impact damage although the red strings tend to fall off. On two of the Shinai's the hand guards don't secure tightly and just fall off but other then that its a great buy. xD
This is a very nice Shinai. Arrived in great condition, excellently put together, very crisp, nice clean look. Only issue I saw was on the handle, right next to the hand guard there is a red number stamped onto the leather. It doesn't come off and smears if you run your hand over it. Nothing major.
Nice practice sword, light and painless, great buy.
I always wanted a kendo stick, very good price and its worth the money.
I got mine about Feb. 2008 and still have it to this day. It's fairly light, sturdy, and has a good feel about it. I took it up against my friends red wood bokken and withstood it for the most part. About a year ago the strings holding the bamboo together started to come undone but I re-tied them and added a glue to help and has worked so far. I love this sword and plan to buy more from here as time goes on.
Great for sparing!!! Very well made and a lot of fun. It is great for the price.
This might not be a "sword" blade, but this spike on this Honshu sword cane is incredibly sharp and I would hate to be on the business end of it. I tested it on 1/2" particle board and it penetrated with hardly any effort. Not to mention it just looks awesome!
