The sword of Miyamoto Musashi himself! - More photos below.

Another stunning and economical samurai sword production from Musha. The blade is hand crafted and razor sharp with a good balance. The sword is full tang and can be disassembled. The blade of the sword is hand crafted and constructed of carbon steel with a hamon (Habuchi, The transition zone from soft to hard steel) along the edge of the blade.

This sword features a visible kissake on the tip of the blade and Ridge Line dividing kissaki from the rest of the blade. The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a high gloss black lacquer finish. Wrapped around the upper half of the scabbard is a black cotton sageo. The scabbard throat is blackened steel. The guard of the sword begins with a bronze blade collar (Habaki). The actual guard is blackened steel in the double ring design, the exact same design as the great Musashi. Each side of the guard is secured by a bronze spacer (Seppa). The sword is full tang and secured by two wooden pins in the handle of the sword. The pommel of the sword is a simple blackened steel end cap.

    About Musashi:
Miyamoto Musashi was a famous Japanese swordsman and is believed to have been one of the most skilled swordsmen in history. Musashi, as he is often simply known, became legendary through his outstanding swordsmanship in numerous duels, even from a very young age. He is the founder of the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu, or Niten Ryu style of swordsmanship and wrote Go Rin No Sho, The Book of Five Rings, a book on strategy, tactics, and philosophy that is still studied today.

Musashi writes about his first duel:
"I have trained in the way of strategy since my youth, and at the age of thirteen I fought a duel for the first time. My opponent was called Arima Kihei, a sword adept of the Shinto ryu, and I defeated him. At the age of sixteen I defeated a powerful adept by the name of Akiyama, who came from the prefecture of Tajima. At the age of twenty-one I went up to Kyoto and fought duels with several adepts of the sword from famous schools, but I never lost." -Musashi Miyamoto, Go Rin No Sho

It is notable that Musashi died of what is believed to be thoracic cancer, and was not killed in combat. He died peacefully after finishing the Dokkodo ("The Way of Walking Alone", or "The Way of Self-Reliance"), 21 precepts on self-discipline to guide future generations.

After his death various legends began to appear. Most talk about his feats in kenjutsu and other martial arts, some describing how he was able to hurl men over 5 feet backwards, other about his speed and technique. Other legends tell of how Musashi killed giant lizards in Echizen, as well as Nues in various other prefectures. He gained the stature of Kensei, a "sword saint" for his mastery in swordsmanship. Some believed he could run at super-human speed, walk on air, water and even fly through the clouds.

I got this sword for christmas, and I have to say that it is a beast, absolutely beautiful. My only issue is that it is barely sharp. Other than the lack of a sharp edge I have no issues with this beautiful blade and for the price I highly recommend

I've had this sword for almost two years now, and I have to say I really love it. I try to be really careful with it, so I can't honestly say how rugged it is, but I do recall once denting it slightly try to cut a hardened coconut with it, but the dent came out easily with a bit of sharpening. It holds its edge nicely and hasn't rusted or otherwise corroded. The metal tip at the top of the scabbard (where the sword goes in) has come off, but I can easily glue it back when I'm not being lazy. I think the price was great, I've seen cheaper made swords for more money. So yeah, I'd say you can buy this with confidence.

Getting this as my first katana has really set standards for me. I have a stainless steel broadsword as it is and the blade feels almost flimsy, especially compared to my new high-carbon steel iaito (1055 I think). I was extremely pleased with the shipping, like the rest of my purchases at True Swords. Although the blade didn't come too sharp, it still cut filled 2 liter bottles like butter. All in all, definitely a great sword for price.

This is my first Katana. When it arrived I took the oil off and noticed how sharp the edge is. The wrapping is tight and the pegs are easy to access. This sword is great for beginners and Musashi is now my favorite brand. Get this now before it sells out!

My sword arrived on time for the projected delivery date. The sword is gorgeous, much better looking than several other swords I have seen for the same price or cheaper. The sword feels and seems very sturdy. Much better quality than swords I have seem in this price range in the past. Cuts well and is easy to handle with how it is balanced. I am extremely happy with my purchase and plan to buy many other swords through True Swords, I also have to admit I plan to buy more Musashi swords as I am happy with this product. Well, I should say Musha swords with the upcoming change in name. To sum it up this sword is great for the price range, I have no complaints.

Very high quality, well built sword with no flaws, very sharp blade on delivery. Perfectly weighted for one or two hand combat

What can I say? I bought this katana some days ago and got it today. Absolutely stunning! The work is amazingly done. Razor Sharp like said, beautiful hamon line, the tsuba feels great, everything is great! For 50 dollars, what else can I ask? Not the first time I buy from Musashi/Musha, but definitely not the last.

Although I have to add that I didn't like the Sageo that much. It's not that high quality, but still a good one. But, what the hell? I can't ask for a better sword. Recommended all the way.
