From Ancient Japan to the Anime and video games of the present, Kunai knives have remained a trusted weapon choice for for ninjas.

    History of the Kunai knife:

A kunai is an ancient kind of trowel, originated during the Tensho Era in Japan. The kunai was normally wrought of iron, not steel, cheaply forged and unpolished. The size of most kunai ranged from 20 cm to 60 cm, with the average at 40 cm. The kunai was used by common folk as multi-purpose gardening tools and by workers of stone and masonry. The kunai is not a knife, but something more akin to a wrecking bar. The blade was soft iron and unsharpened because the edges were used to smash plaster and wood, to dig holes and to pry. Normally only the tip would have been sharpened. The uses to which a kunai was put would have destroyed any heat-treated and sharpened tool like a knife.

Kunai normally had a leaf-shaped blade and a handle with a ring on the pommel for attaching a rope. This would allow the kunai's handle to be wrapped to act as a grip, or when used as a weapon; to be strapped to a stick as an expedient spear, to be tied to the body for concealment, or to use as an anchor or piton.

this was my first purchase, and also my first throwing knife. this is a good knife over all. it came very sharp, it also has very good balance. I plan on buying another one because the knife is just that good.

a lot bigger than i thought they would be. good blades the handle warping is ok not great but good. these are factory mess ups but they are very nice the mess up is the blade spine is not perfectly strait but it is still a good blade. well balanced. the holster is a two out of five. it hold fine but the backing behind the handle is just nylon webbing and there is no leg string to hold it to your leg. so it might flip up side down. so do like me and rig up the holster a bit. but for the money this is a good set i am very pleased with it.

Perfect!! super sharp and balanced too. Good for throwing and head to head combat. Durable and with a bit of elbow grease after any battle they can be fixed up and resharpened

great kunai's, just be cautious on the tips

Fairly awesome throwers, though they are more suited for fighting. The tip tapers to a nice point, making for better penetration, but weak and prone to bending. The cord wrapping was done horribly, however. I re-wrapped them, and ended up with six to seven inches of extra cord. All in all, I am satisfied with my purchase.

while perfect for fighting, they are sharp on the edge, and the blades are WAY too thin. i threw one and bent it trying to get it out. i hammerd it strait, but still way too thin! i know its probably to keep the weight down, or the cost, however the tips bend too easily; perhaps a wider tip? other than being sharp edged and thin, though, a nice product.
