How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

great spring action, razor sharp and a needle sharp point. A little more heft and weight than most spring actions makes this knife feel very imposing in hand.

Would definitely recommend for spring action fans. A+

I purchase this knife because it was cheap, cool looking, and had a good sized blade. It shipped in 3 days and in person it didn't disappoint. Don't let the picture fool you, this knife is BIG. It came sharp enough to slice paper and the spring action is fast. It locks solidly with absolutely no blade play.
Some points of concern though is that their is no safety as shown in the picture and theirs a wired circular thing on the back of the blade. All in all a very good knife for the money.

it is a great knife fast to open and a solid locking when it is open, i just have one problem with mine, and that is that the screw that holds the metal spring assist part in place had it's threading stripped and i can't seem to find the same part

This is another one of 5 knives that i received today and its almost as good as the Karambit. I gave it a little honeing and this baby is sharp.

Bigger than what I expected, and kinda slow to open. Mine also came with a half serrated edge and the locking mechanism didn't work at first, but after flicking the blade in and out a few times, it finally started locking. The blade isn't overly sharp but really it's a good knife for ten dollars.

After owning this blade for almost a year now I do not leave the house without. It is a reliable blade that has served from time to time without fail. Be it cutting boxes to defending yourself this is an all around decent quality knife for the money. It has endured quite a bit in these months and the end result is that the knife still performs despite the clip being loose and the spring assist mechanism becoming loose as well. Both of which can be repaired given the right tools. Most knife collectors should have the tools to take care of their knives if not well this is why there are reviews where they complain about the knife failing them. Overall good buy. 4/5

one thing to mention is that the clip goes in upside down... I LOVE IT!!!! it makes it way easier to whip out and quick draw _:D feels very sturdy and good edge to the blade.
