How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

nice solid work knife. the brand of this knife is Ridge Runner, witch isn't a bad brand. fast smooth lockup. Im not personally a fan of liner locks but its quick and works. The belt cutter blade isn't as thick as the blade blade, but for string, bags, small stupid things it works. I should also note the belt cutter blade and glass breaker is all removeable if seen fit. The blade itself, for it being a 10 dollar knife is very nice. My old EDC gerber bear grylls is about just as sharp. If u need a good beater work knife, and watch walking dead, this is for you. However, once the real zombie apocalypse comes, im not using this, im breakin out the COLD STEEL baby

Awesome knife, My first purchase with true swords, and i promise you it wont be my last. The knife was sharp, but i sharpened it even more :) . the glass breaker works well and the seat belt cutter is a nice touch and works as well. I am a happy buyer, i carry this knife all the time, and with the color as it is, its hard to lose so thats a plus for me.

Well I needed a knife for work, and I wasn't able to take any of my original knives with me, when I moved out of state. So I'll clarify a few things that people may be wondering about:

    1. The "Green" on the knife is literally that bright, and quickly draws attention towards it.

    2. The "etching" on the blade with the quote "Lead will Fly, Heads will Roll" As well as the Zombie head, are quite nicely attached on the blade, and will take a long while, cutting through some rough things to make it come off. The typical person that would purchase this blade, will probably never see it come off.

    3. The "Seat Belt Cutter" on the rear of the blade is sharp, but dulls VERY quickly.

    4. The 'Wind-Shield Smasher" on the pommel is sharp, almost TOO sharp. I have many of knives with Window-Smashers, but none that are like this one: Instead of a diamond, or a flattened-head design, they decided to go with a sharpened point.(Unusual for a knife like this.)

    5. The "Spring Assist" on this particular knife, is alittle shotty; sometimes it will open quickly, others, it'll open half-way, and stop. I've been using Spring Assist knives for a long time now, and never have I encountered this issue. This leads me to believe that either the metal disk that moves the blade is either too tightly wound, or that it's a hair too-thick. Either way, using it regularly should fix the issue.

    6. The Blade itself isn't bad: It has a pretty nice point, and as previously stated, the etching is spot-on. It comes mildly sharp out of the box: enough initially for me to use while opening, and breaking down boxes, but quickly, and VERY quickly after that, did it dull down. It was actually faster to rip the boxes open, than to use this to cut the tape and what not. Granted, that's after it dulled. And as everyone should know, cardboard is a knives worst enemy, as it will make even the sharpest knife, dull down quickly.

    7. The "Apocalypse Survivor" logo on the handle, is very nice indeed. I looked at it for a good while trying to find a flaw in it, but there wasn't one to find.

    8. The Belt clip is strong, sturdy, and it too, as a sharpness too it. Where if you're not careful, can easily rip a pair of dress-pants.

Overall, for what this knife actually does; it does well. The price is fair, and for a specialty knife, it's not bad at all. I would recommend this to a friend, of family member that's into zombies, or just someone looking for a vibrant-green knife, that will be quite hard to misplace in the darkness: Whether that's running from zombies, or to your car at a cold winters night; drop this knife on the gound, and you'd be hard-pressed to not see it. 4/5.

The spring assist is VERY fast and fits nicely in the hand for a quick draw. I've tested the seat belt cutter and window breaker stub; cuts the belt and shatters the window!

Received the knife today, the main blade was dull but took an edge really nicely, i had my droughts on the blade because i don't tend to buy knives made with steel less then 1080 high carbon. but when i seen this one i really liked it. but i really like this one, the blade on the end, is nicely sharp and hasn't given me an issue on anything i have tried to cut with it, goes though binder twine nicely. the main blade cuts everything i have put in front of it, and is still holding an edge its a really nice kife, and as for all the things i have gotten from true swords it was delivered quickly. i haven't used the end spike on anything. as of yet.
