How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

This is my first buy from True swords with one other pocket knife and The Alabama Slammer. The shipping was fast considering my package size. At first i was worried becuase of the paint on the blade and how it would dull it down, boy was i wrong. This blade is sharp as ever, nearly cut myself trying to take it out and flip it. The overall design is very attractive and the paint adds tot he overall effect. You could find a blade like this out there for 3 times the price but of coruse the amazing site of True Swords gives it to you at an amazing deal. I would also recommend this to anyone looking for a collecters blade or a active blade. This is certainly not be my last purchase of this site. Thanks True Swords!!!

TS added this to their roster right before I made my purchase so I thought i'd give it a try. I was a little skeptical about a knife covered in paint, but I'm pretty satisfied. It's a little light for my taste, but still heavy enough for comfort. The spring assist is a little harder to trip compared to my other knives, but it just takes a little more force. A good buy, and always fast shipping. Thanks Trueswords!
