How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

This was the knife I fell in love with. The design is truly flawless. Let me see if I can even stop gushing to focus on writing a proper review:

The blade: This knife will scare you. This is going to sound odd but the blade is actually bigger than the handle it sits in. It comes sharpened to perfection, polished, and ready to be used.

Design: the police/handcuff design is a cool little touch. It isn't odd to hold at all, it fits very comfortable in my hand. Someone with larger hands my have trouble with it however. The paint doesn't appear to peel at all even after nearly 12 months of me having it. The small "Police" shield on it has become worn a bit but that's all.

Structure: Of all the spring assist knives I've bought from TrueSwords, this is actually the only one I still have (the others have broken or been given away) I generally recommend the tension tool for anyone buying spring assist knives but this knife has only recently become loose. Considering how often I use this knife, I am genuinely surprised.

Buy this. TrueSwords has a bad habit of offering amazing knives for dirty cheap.

Here is the link for the tension tool anyway:
