How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

I loved this knife but after lots of use it began to fall apart to the point that it was unable to be repaired. But other then that a great buy.

This knife was bigger than expected (for a pocket piece) and mechanism for returning the blade is slippery...

Of the three knives I ordered all together, this is the only one that arrived undamaged. And hey, that wins it brownie points off the bat. The whole thing is sturdy as a brick and the finish is this sort of shiny... matte... deep red that's just really nice to look at. The handle sort of dwarfs the blade when it's open but it's also really comfortable to hold, so that doesn't bother me. Overall it's bigger than I expected and for this I have no complaint.
Actually, I have no complaints at all. The mechanism is smooth as silk, it locks open great, and it looks fantastic. The lever for closure can be a little difficult to push but that's not the end of the world, just a speedbump.
This is a really great knife. I'd probably buy another without any hesitation. What better praise is there?

Great knife, for a great price. That is all that can really be said.

First things first, when i opened the box it was bigger than i thought, however i am used to my three or so inch stiletto. the blade on this knife is wider and longer than my first, which isnt a problem. the handle has a lot of open space and is a little thin on the sides, but i tried to squeeze it and it wouldn't give. the blade flies out smoothly and quickly, andspring has a lot of power behind it. the kick made it fall out of my hand the first time, and it stuck tip first in the floor. sharp and relatively light, its a good enough knife, four stars.

For the price this knife is worth it. It had a solid constructing, slim profile, and looks very cool. However, I got this knife for my girlfriend to carry and it is a little difficult to open for her and for me. The blade needed some work but has a nice sharp tip on it.
