How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

When I got this knife I didn't have high hopes for it because of the price, but for a week I could find nothing wrong with it. Then I discovered that the blade is loose in its housing, the screw holding it together had to tightened with frightening regularity, and to cap it all off, a sharp tap to the back of the blade will snap it shut on your fingers due to a slanted locking mechanism. I don't know if I received a defective product, but I'm not pleased with its performance, and I will be replacing it with a much higher quality knife. Other than that the blade arrived razor sharp, the belt cutter works like a charm, and the glass breaker could save your life. I wouldn't order this knife unless you have the skills to modify it, or don't mind replacing it. It goes to show you get what you pay for.

I love the color, very dark and smexy looking. Window break and seat belt cutter are the things I don't use (for now), but the blade is great, and it is easy to open (in a good way). I can't say much about this knife, but it is a great price.

VERY GOOD! I love this knife. It came very sharp and I love it. I haven't used the window breaker or cord cutter and I'm very glad I haven't had to. The only thing you need to be careful of is shipping fees. It was $10 more for shipping. Still, $20 for this knife is still WORTH IT!

This knife is great, when i got it i was able to shave my hairs with it. I've seen other spring assist knives break easily but this one is heavy duty, definately worth much much more than $10. It does need tightening every now and then but it takes a few seconds. The cord cutter isn't as sharp as i expected but im not sure if i'll ever really use it. The window breaker is cool cause its also a weapon by itself. I completely recommend this product and true swords.

This knife is simply amazing!! It looks just amazing, flips open very fast and easily with a little practice, and is incredibly sharp, this was one of the sharpest knives I've had up until I went and lost the thing, I miss it so bad and can't find it anywhere! completely worth 10$

It was very good when I first got it but, after about a month half of the screw assembly came out and now the blade wants to fall out.
