In 1947 Mikhail Kalashnikov, the legendary Russian gun designer, created the AK-47 assault rifle. Eventually adopted by the Red Army in 1949, it became famous as the "People's Rifle". Such renown was well deserved, as it was an utterly reliable weapon. It was rugged, simple to operate and maintain, economical, and effective at reasonable ranges. This weapon, and all it represents became the inspiration for our heavy duty tactical knives, the AK-47 folders. Designed by Andrew Demko, the AK-47's possess all of the attributes of their namesake, and perhaps a few more.

They're built for hard and rugged use. Equipped with a G-10 handle that offer a vigorous grip which is remarkably tough, rigid and incomparably strong. Also, each comes with a unique pommel made out of 6061 aluminum. The pommels feature a lanyard hole and can also serve as a "less than lethal" percussion tool in a self-defense situation.

Additionally, the hollow ground blade is honed by hand until they reach levels of sharpness only seen on a surgeon's scalpel. They're made from Japanese AUS 8A Stainless steel, then vacuum heat-treated and sub zero quenched for maximum toughness. The blades are coated with black Teflon® for corrosion resistance and to enhance cutting power and to improve edge retention by reducing friction.

To compliment such an exceptional blade we have paired them with our state of the art Tri-Ad lock. In our testing, the Tri-Ad has proved to be superior to any other lock on the market today in terms of overall strength and resistance to shock induced by blows on the spine (eclipsing virtually all locks in short order) or the even more devastating shock by over-strike that lands on the handle.

Finally, to assure easy access, and swift operation, the AK-47's come with an ambidextrous pocket clip and our new patented thumb plate. The thumb plate has a dual purpose, it allows the knife to be drawn and quickly opened by snagging it on the edge of a pocket or it can be used like a conventional thumb stud or disc for easy one-handed opening.

    Blade Length: 3 1/2 in.
    Blade Thickness: 3.5 mm.
    Overall Length: 9 in.
Steel: Japanese AUS 8A Stainless w/ Black Teflon Coating.
    Weight: 5.5 oz.
    Handle: 5 1/2 in. Long G-10.
Pocket Clip: Stainless Pocket / Belt Clip.

The first thing that I noticed was the size of this knife, it's easily the largest I own, but that isn't a bad thing. It's a heavy duty knife and if you're using it for work or something utilitarian, I doubt it'll let you down.

Like the others have said, only issue I've seen is that the rough textured grip is going to wear away at whatever you have it clipped on.

    outstanding knife
blade length is good the handle is large and works well with me hands (be a bit large as well)
the shape of the handle fits well in the hand too
came excellently sharp and the impact device is very stable
shipped in about 4 days and came with a reversible pocket clip
it is larger than it is shown in the picture, though it hasn't proven to be anything but an advantage the thumb plate works great and the pocket wave feature never fails (even when i just want to remove the knife from my pocket all together, could be a problem but i would suggest practice)
the lock is comparable to that of a bank vault, and will not actuate accidentally nor will the knife ever fold when you don't need it to
however it is definitely a 2 handed closure method (well worth it in my opinion)
it is relativity light and will not be a problem for long carry times (I.E camping, contracting ect)
pocket clip is well made but the scales continue underneath it and may shred you pocket after a while if not modified.
overall great knife and the price hear at trueswords is unbeatable compared to that of cold steel

this is by far the best knife i have ever owned i would recommend it to anybody
very sharp and hold its edge pretty well
g10 grip is extremely tough i was actually able to strike a match on it
the blade is a decent size
    very quick one hand opening
    the teflon wears fairly well

a bit on the heavy side
and probably the worst thing about this knife is that the G10 handle is also right under the clip so with continued use the grip that is right under the clip will start to shred the inside of your pants

Awesome knife, a bit on the heavier side though. But the shipping from true swords is ridiculously fast. I received my order in 4 days.

I must start off by saying this folding knife is by far the best knife that I have ever owned. I have also had a knife in my pocket since I was a child, I have had good knifes and bad ones. My last knife that held my favorite was a S&W. If you were to ask me now, I would say smith and who???

I thing everyone should know that this picture does not do the knife justice. The blade is large, slightly longer than my palm, and I have never felt safer with a blades locking mech. than I do with this one. No more of the blade folding when its not suppose to. The handle of the knife feels unlike anything I have held in my hand. There is no room for any unwanted movement as this is also a VERY sturdy and durable folding knife. I am serious when I say "GET THIS KNIFE!!!!"
