Great Little Radios...

These are some of the least expensive "green" radios you can buy, and some of the better ones as well. They are far more advanced than the contemporary PRC-77 used by the US military, and lighter and more compact. Voice quality is excelent. Covers the entire 6m Amateur radio band. Output power on one of my is about 1.6W, the other about 1W. An excellent assortment of antennas are included, from a short +/ .5 meter stubby whip up to a highly directional long wire antenna that can wring the most out of the limited power available. I have paired mine with a UK Clansman 20w power amplifier for added punch. The batteries that come with them are usually trashed but direct replacement cells to replace the dud ones inside the battery box are readily available. All in all, I love 'em!

RF-10

I am very pleased with the radio. I replaced the batteries and I had to solder a capacitor that had broken loose from the circuit board and now the unit works fine. I have several of these and they are a blast to play with. Any Ham that likes experimenting will enjoy these sets.

I rebuilt the battery pack with regular Ni-Cad batteries as original. The transceiver works and I've very happy with it. I think this is an exceptionally good deal on a very good transceiver. The quality of the radio itself is first class all the way. Also, it should be noted that the transmit distance advertised for these is what you get with the shortest antenna in "average" conditions. The long antenna will transmit 20 miles in "average" conditions. Being in the mountains I expect to see far greater distances. Super happy with the purchase. It won't take any ham radio operator any more than 10 or 15 seconds to fully understand the operation of this set, it's very intuitive. English translations of the manual and the service manual are on the web from a site in the U.K.

Units arrived in a timely manner. Nicad batteries replaced with NP6-3.3Ah 6 volt lead acid sealed battery . Some minor soldering required on the battery box which had rigged fuses. With the battery modifications the units work great. Instructions on battery compartment modification is available on YouTube. Simple and takes less then 5 minutes.
