Almost perfect. A-

This is a very well designed knife. With it's .236" thick 1095 cor-van steel blade and full width flat grind blade profile. It will chop and slice with ease. I took it with me on a Whitetail deer bow hunt last September. We all did well I got a nice 4 point buck (back east they would call it a 10 point, 4 points on each side plus eye guard's) and a nice young doe. After field dressing them we went back to camp and hung them up for skinning. After we got the hides & hooves off my buddy went to get the bone saw to remove the heads. I took that KA-BAR out of the sheath and with about a 3/4 power swing that Does head came right off. It cut the third vertebrae in half and the edge was not damaged at all. I was impressed My hunting buddy's were shocked and amazed. The only thing this knife is missing is a finger/hand guard hilt. Without it it's not really a Bowie now is it. Still it's a great large clip point knife.

Just got them in the mail today and I'm very impressed. It's much bigger than I anticipated and for a blade of this size, it's rather light weight. It's a very solid blade with excellent maneuverability. The edge is nice and sharp straight out of the package. The sheath is also very well made. Overall, a great buy; good job KA-BAR. I'm definitely a fan

This is one awesome knife, especially when you consider the cost. When it first arrived, it was nicely tucked away inside the Ka-Bar box, sheath seperated from the knife, and came with just enough oil on the edge, no excess.

The knife itself is the bowie style shape, unsharpened on the back, almost razor sharp on the primary edge, and a very strong and sharp tip.

The thickness of the knife is 1/4 of an inch thick, which makes it ideal for outdoor use, and also makes it have the extra heft for slashing.

And for it being thick and big, it's actually much light than I anticipated, it's weight is only a mere 15.5oz, and it's ideal for camping since it's so light, and durable.

It's also a very tough knife, you'd have to heavily abuse it for it to actually break, and it's going to last a long time if you take care of it and oil it once in a while.

The handle on it is also a great compromise between confort and durability. It's weatherproof, low maintenance, and reduces the cost, and this handle will not slip out of your hands, even when wet.

Although the knife does lack a crossguard (which most bowie styled knives have), it does have these ramps on the top of the handle that will stop your hand from moving forward if you did a thrust with it, and the pommel is nice and big to ensure a secure grip.

This knife also has good edge retention, which is important for this kind of knife, and will keep whatever edge you want on it. The edge comes great from the factory, and is flat-ground.

And the epoxy coating is thick and will protect the blade from rust for quite a while, and even if the epoxy does happen to come off, it will increase it's cutting ability even further, making it have less friction on whatever it is cutting.

The sheath is also nice quality, mixing leather and Cordura for good durability, and it also has two retention straps for the knife so it will not fall out. It also has a thigh attachment if you wanted to tie it around your leg, which is a plus. The belt loop is also connected with a metal D-ring, to allow free movement so the sheath won't chafe on your leg whenever you take it whith you.

All in all, this is one heck of a knife for the money, and it's one of my favorites.

Thanks again TrueSwords, for your outstanding customer service and pricing! and special thanks to Ka-Bar for this neat design!
