Without a doubt, the khukuri is a king among edged weapons! There is no other knife that we are aware of, that can out chop, slice, or stab quite as well as the khukuri.

It is the national knife of the country of Nepal and is the constant companion of Gurkha soldiers who volunteer for service in the British Army, from both Nepal & India. It is also the favored all-purpose knife used by civilians in those countries. The blade is 12 in. long & 1/4 in. thick in the spine. It is forged from high carbon steel, full-tang through the grip, & fitted with a steel butt cap. Grip material is a native hardwood, which can easily be reshaped to the owners requirements.

The notch on the blade is symbolic of the Hindu goddess Shiva, "goddess of might".

The traditional sheath is made from hand carved wood, covered with goat skin, & brass tipped. The suspension system is made of full-thickness goat skin.

The traditional small accessory blades (Karda--sharp utility knife. Chamchak--dull edge for touch -up sharpening of the big blade) are included.

12 in. blade, 16 1/2 in. overall.

Great project blade! Reviewed by John Espartero on Mar 13, 2018   4 out of 5

My first impression when unboxing this knife is it's heft, solid thick steel blade of decent hardness and overall finish is quite rough, I reprofile the edge to be a extremely sharp convex edge using a cheap harbor freight belt sander, the result was a hefty knife that chops like a beaver on steroids! The smaller knives that it comes with are for sharpening they may not look much but they are hardened steel strips that are used to maintain the edge like a sharpening steel and worked well enough to restore the edge to paper slicing sharp! The belt strap has to be secured with para cord on the sheath or else it will just feel like a weight strapped to your belt.

The blade weighs in at 24.5 ounces, it was very dull but sharpens up. I used a 1 inch belt sander for sharpening this blade, started with 80 grit, yes 80 and ended with 1000 grit. Holds an edge fairly well the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired the wood slabs one side being longer than the other by 3/16 of an inch.among other things, The blade also has a considerable twist in it, This will be used for a tool, chopping etc, and it does pretty well quite a bit of heft. What more needs to be said its $20.00 fun to use

Disappointed Reviewed by on Mar 23, 2017   5 out of 5

The Good: Very well constructed. Blade is solid. Handle is of good quality. Full tang. The BAD: The little accessory knives are useless. Little knives don't fit in the scabbard. Even if they DID fit, one could not fit the accessory knives and the main blade all together. Belt loop doesnt fit the scabbard. No edge at all and sharpening it is near impossible without heavy equipment. I expected it to be a little better. Budk has much better items in the price range.

His and Hers Kukri Reviewed by Josh Ervin on Dec 05, 2016   5 out of 5

Just got out knives in today...... We likey..... I kinda think of the little knives as tiny cheese blades maybe. I'll edge them and use mine at work. Hers is going with her to work as well she says. Feels pretty good in the hand. I'll have to put a grind on the tang tho. It sticks out a little from the wood. Otherwise this is what I expected for $20.

Decent deal Reviewed by Howard Farmer on Aug 02, 2016   4 out of 5

Hefty. It'll be nasty when it's sharp. It's taking a lot of work to get an edge without a wheel. Tip of the blade had a small ding but it will get sharpened away. I discarded the 2 small blades. I felt they weren't safe because the handles were too small. You might find them useful... one more star if it had come at least semi-sharpened.

I just got my kukri today. I read the reviews, so I knew there would be no blade, so I figured it might be fun sharpening it up and honing it myself. It came oiled up, but there was so much oil that it was soaking thru the box. I was surprised and kinda disappointed when I looked at the sheath. The top of it, where you insert the blade, looked dirty and ragged, like it had been sitting on a floor in a warehouse for a few years. The little knives are extremely sad looking too. They're ugly little things with scrapes and chunks gouged out of them. The redeeming thing about this is that the kukri itself seems good and solid, and I'm betting it's going to be a beautiful, strong knife once I'm done cleaning and sharpening it. Despite its flaws, this kukri should turn out to be a nice blade to add to my collection.
