  • Razor-sharp 4034 stainless steel tanto blade
  • Non-reflective anodized black coating
  • M.A.G.I.C. assisted-opening mechanism
  • Blue impact-resistant aluminum handle
  • Ambidextrous thumb stud & finger actuator
  • Liner lock mechanism and sliding safety switch
  • Measures: 3 2/5" blade; 4 3/10" closed

Each 4034 stainless steel blade is teflon-coated and features the ultra-fast M.A.G.I.C. assisted-open mechanism which can be activated by the ambidextrous thumb stud or the finger actuator on the back of the blade. Once activated the blade springs open at a phenomenal speed.

A blade safety switch ensures no accidental opens and a liner lock ensures the blade doesn't accidentally close while in use. 3.4 in. blade, 7.7 in. overall, 4 3/10 in. closed.

How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

Best EDC I've had so far Reviewed by on Jun 28, 2016   5 out of 5

I have owned this knife for almost 4 years now and it is by far the best EDC I've owned. I am in Boy Scouts and bring this frequently on trips it has stood up to batoning, multiply drops on concrete with the bade opened, as well as odd cutting tasks. The thumb stud works flawless and the pocket clip is still holding strong. The blade has never chipped and I have only sharpened it once have yet to have a problem with it.

This nice is amazing!! everyone i show it to is jealous and the hair trigger works every time. Like the other comment the clip is crazy tight when your first get. once i finally got in hooked on my pants i just let set there for a couple of hours and it eventually got easier to work with. yes it is more expesive than some of the other auto knives on the site but it is so worth it in the end

My Favorite Assisted Opener Reviewed by Dennis on Dec 03, 2014   5 out of 5

My favorite assisted opener very quick and workable by thumb or finger stud. I like Point down clip carry on knife this fast. Also has safety for deep pocket carry. Excellent weight and balance and looks great. Would like a longer blade and one handed closing, but that would be asking too much.

Best knife I've owned Reviewed by Kris on Jan 17, 2014   5 out of 5

I have owned this knife for over a year. Not a problem. Its still fairly sharp with only minor maintenance on the blade. Yes, the paint has started to wear off but the mechanism and the screws are still fully functional. By far my favorite knife (that is until my friend in the National Guard took it to AIT in Georgia :/).

Knife OK, Finsh not OK Reviewed by Bruce on May 30, 2013   3 out of 5

This S&W Black Ops knife is very functional, sharp and the assisted opening is great. My only complaint is the finish is not holding up well at all. I carry it every day and the finish is wearing down to the metal. The black blade scrathes very easy. Its a work knife, so the finish doesnt matter, but I have other knives I have carried for years and the finish is as good as the day I got them. If you want the finish on your S&W Black Ops knife to last for years, do not carry it daily or use it. I like the S&W knife styles, but I will not purchase another one due to the weak finish on their knives.

Wonderful Reviewed by Willy Emerson on Feb 01, 2013   5 out of 5

I LOVE these knives....I have them in light blue, dark blue, red and black. I have small but very strong hands, and these knives fit my hands nicely and react quickly when I flick my wrist.

3 Smith and Western Black Opps Tanto Tactical Folding Knife Reviewed by Cornelia on Jan 20, 2013   5 out of 5

I began buying my husband and 2 sons pocket knives as stocking stuffer-s several years back. Each year, I try to do better then the last. This year I purchased this knife in red, blue and black. Each person was excited until I opened a knife for myself which I wanted because it was sharp. I have never failed to purchase a knife that has failed to be worth the money I spend and it is fantastic to see the joy on the guys face. I now have a possible future daughter-in-law to be and she has fallen into the stocking stuffer of the knives. She enjoys getting the knives as much as the guys. Thanks it makes everything easy when you have purchased as many knives as I have over the years

You're wrong Reviewed by Anonymous on Apr 03, 2012   5 out of 5

1-There is a lock on the knife. 2-Sometimes the knives from budk do not ship in working condition, you should take the knife apart and make sure everything is together.... overall when I got my knife the Teflon ring was stuck inside of the handle and not installed so I had to fix that. Overall great knife. very sharp, very sleek, very pleased...
