Rare and extremely hard to find! This three-piece collector's edition Samurai sword set from Shinwa brings you all three of the classic blades carried by the Samurai warriors throughout feudal Japan. This is the trifecta for true sword collectors, including a stunning katana, wakizashi and tanto sword.

Each of these storied blades features rock-solid full-tang 1060 high carbon steel construction. The blades were meticulously hand forged using ancient, time-honored tempering techniques that give each piece a custom, one-of-a-kind look and feel. Each one features a hand-sharpened edge and a piercing point just like those carried by Samurai warriors centuries ago.

Ornate details such a cast zinc alloy tsuba and pommel and solid brass handle embellishments only add to the splendor of these powerful swords. Genuine ray skin and heavy cord wrappings complete the handle design, and the hand-lacquered scabbards all feature genuine inlaid mother of pearl dragon designs. These regal swords epitomize the Samurai standard in glorious detail. Display them proudly on the three-tier hardwood display stand.

hand forging samurai sword blades process

About Shinwa:

Shinwa swords are made by hand using traditional methods in the ancient sword-making township of Lonquan. The sword-making history of this town can be traced back to the twentieth year of the Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty – exceptional sword making continues there still today. The swordsmiths of Lonquan can apprentice for up to six years before they begin to forge these functional works of art on their own.

Each Shinwa sword is hand forged at temperatures of up to 1,100 °F and continuously heated, folded, hammered and shaped before being oil quenched and then straightened. 1060 carbon steel blades are folded as many as ten times to yield up to 2,056 layers of premium 1060 carbon steel. After quenching the blade is then ground and hand sharpened and polished by the swordsmith on a series of wet stones. Each set of these wet stones contains a finer level of silicate particles, which produces an even sharper edge. In the final stages of this painstaking process, the tsuka is wrapped and tsuba and other fittings are added before a thin coat of oil is added to the blade to prevent corrosion.

Beautiful scabbard Reviewed by on Jun 02, 2017   5 out of 5

When i recived these blades the box it came in was beautiful and the weapons were already sharp and polished. But the scabbards were the best part for me. They are so good and the laccord wood can't be shown in just pictures. Every time I look at them they become more and more pretty looking. I would highly recommend a shinwa sword to any blade collector or martial arts practitioner or if your both like me XD. The blades are great steel and the construction is well done and battle ready. When I practice with them I can really tell how deadly and effective these are. Unlike other collective pieces I have

Gotta agree with the other Clint. These swords are beautiful. The damascus blades are fantastic and super sharp. All the fittings are tight and there's no rattle anywhere. The swords fit quite snugly in the scabbards, which are also beautiful. Highly recommended.

Its alright. Reviewed by on Jan 03, 2016   4 out of 5

From other comments I expected them to be bery sharp but they could barely even dent the cardboard box they came in, other than that they look and feel nice, they are lighter than expected tho.

my opinion Reviewed by on Aug 15, 2015   5 out of 5

i 100% agree with him , they are such beautiful and functional works of art, i give thanks for the artisans and designers of SHINWA, keep working hard, living up to expectations, and making Damascus blades true beyond and deeper than the false but pretty damascus blade prints.

My experience was a complete 180 of Ian's. These swords are all solid. The Damascus layers are clearly evident in my set and the blades are beautiful. They are all extremely tightly fitted with no rattle and sharp as hell. None of the scabbards are loose on my set. If anything they're overly tight, but I wouldn't say it takes an absurd amount of strength to pull the swords. It does take some effort though. Also the pearl design on the scabbards is gorgeous and the box was fine. If I was any more satisfied they'd have to arrest true swords for a happy ending. It's unfortunate Ian may have gotten a "dud." I personally would highly recommend this set.

I've used true swords a lot over the years. This is the first time I was dissatisfied. The product didn't come as advertised. Instead of Damascus steel it was regular 1060 carbon steel (im not 100% sure on being 1060 but i could guess based off other purchases). Another issue is that the sheath practically falls off of the katana and it takes an absurd amount of strength to take the sheath off of the tanto. The box also came with some light damage. I normally wouldn't complain over small things like this, but being $400 i at least expect to receive the product I payed for.

I own several real japanese swords which are worth in the 5 digit figures. They are lock away. I wanted some thing nice to display and maybe use for cutting. They fit the bill perfect! They are actual weapons and are beautiful too! I am extremely happy with them, and for the price they can not be beat. Thank you BudK

very nice set Reviewed by ben on Nov 29, 2012   5 out of 5

This sword set is impressive; it's very sharp and has a blood fillet with a real hammon. The picture is a little dark compared to what arrived. The scabbards are maroon (you can see the wood grain through the finish), not ox-blood and the blade is silver, not black damascus steel. The inlaid dragon is exquisite. The stand is lined with velvet where the swords sit and they come in a Japanese inspired cloth covered cardboard box that's a keeper. These are as close to battle-ready you can get for the price and are real show-pieces. I couldn't be happier.
