I am so extremely impressed with not only how fast my Musashi Miyamoto arrived, but also at how prefect it was. The hamon was my main concern. I was worried that it would b extremely beautiful on one side and not so much on the other. Totally not a problem, hamon is strikingly beautiful on each side of the blade. I also own a $250 Ryumon folded and differentially tempered katana. And out of the box the Musashi was tighter, and the hamon on the Ryumon folded katana was amazing on one side and the other side off the blade it was less than half the size, to the point of barely being able to see it. Needless to say I was a little let down but LET that one go bc that was my first fully functional katana. Out of the box as far as the whole handle, no creaks or anything loose so far. But like I said I've only had it not even 24 hours. But with the Ryumon, the handle made a cracking noise when practicing, meaning swinging it in the air at full speed, equivalent to a boxer shadow boxing, it felt right but I new something was wrong. Ended up being the kashira ( pommel, end cap), wtfe, I'm not going to be the guy that uses every Japanese word and expects your average person, or even a first time buyer to know or even worse have to look it up. So I ended up having to put the kashira in a vise and crush it some. Totally fixed it. But anyways back to overview. Awesome sword, looks amazing, tight, straight blade, unbelievably fast shipping, they said 7-10 days. I got mine in 4. The sword is sharp, not expertly sharpened sharp, but way sharp enough to kill or possibly remove a limb, so be advised. I say expertly sharp bc my good buddy owns a knife shop and when he's done with any of my blades, I can shave the hair right off my arm , and there's no resistance, the hair literally jumps off. However, I have two small things to nitpick about. #1 - I'm going to have to shim the saya (scabbard), because when I turn the housed sword upside down, it will fall out, which is not good, but no big deal, I've never done it before but I had an idea, and when I goggled it I was correct on how to do it. #2 as I checked out the saya (scabbard, sheath) I'm not going to tell anyone how to describe things.) I noticed a small chunk out of the saya, very small and hardly noticeable, bc it's lacquered over. And like I said it's very small and with this being a $100 beautiful functional sword, I really can't complain much. But I will complain if the handle starts becoming excessively loose. Bc T.S. (true swords) has a 30 day return, money back guarantee. But that is one on the many reasons True Swords seems to be a great company, but we'll see. Good luck to all of you modern day samurai's out there. Hope this helps you in deciding on a purchase. Sorry it turned into a dam novel.

This sword is simply designed and that is where it's beauty lies. It is sharp out of the box. It has dual pegs so the blade won't separate from the handle. Awesome sword for kata. Awesome cutting sword. Definitely worth with the price, and hey it is a Musashi!

This sword is absolutely gorgeous! Top quality, from pommel to point. It came sharp enough to shave with, it has a very nice weight to it, and it came on the day FedEx said it would. Which only took four days, by the way. It's unbelievable that a sword like this is only $90. This was my first purchase from True Swords, and it definitely won't be my last.

Excellent sword even though I'm no expert. Extremely well packaged and oiled. Sharp!! No fault of True Swords. They advertised it was sharp. Lightly ran my finger on the blade and that was all it took. Thought it's not a 500 plus dollar sword it is wonderful for me. Swung it around several times and nothing at all loosened up. I'll be ordering more from here. Well done True Swords!!

Over all i'm happy with this sword. The only real problem i have is that after not too many draws the fit in the scabbard becomes loose. <br />As the scabbard is wood and this happens with all swords i have owned it's more a personal issue than anything else..<br />The edge hold well even after repeated use cutting things i probably shouldn't be cutting lol.<br />I was happy enough with this sword i even bought one for a fellow enthusiast who is also quite happy with his.<br />Great deal. Good buy. Happy being a repeat customer of trueswords. I recomend this sword and this site often.

Was expecting a little more, but I bought this for just the tsuba basicly. I love Musashi and his history and felt this would be a nice addition to my collection. The blade is well crafted and looks razor sharp as described. infact I wont test cut with this at all because of how nice it looks on my wall. Great buy for 80 bucks, definatly worth it.

Ive got to say im happy with it got it two days other places like [3rd party merchants removed] take a week to two weeks to get there products this place only two days. But ive got to say excelent i cut the big wate bottles from top to bottom and laid over like you were felaing a fish bad sharp so dont run your finger down the blade unless you dont wont it any more. I will be getting more from trueswords definetly.

Amazing sword, one thing I would like to address is the stunning hamon line. It's easily one of the best features of the sword. The Ito feels great, super tight and feels really good in your hands. Rayskin is real which also adds to the authentic feel. And the tsuba looks good too, real smooth and fits in great. Nothing wobbles at all with this sword.<br /><br />And I cannot stress enough the amazing custom service trueswords offers. They called me to resolve all the problems I had stated in a previous review. I can't wait to buy from trueswords again.

Fantastic sword for the money. This sword was tight when it arrived and razor sharp. I tested its sharpness on a few water bottles and were able to shave them down inch at a time with no movement in the bottom half of the bottle. The blade is sharp. The sword should cost several hundred dollars that's how good it is. Well well worth the money. <br /><br />signed<br /><br />absolutely satisfied <br /><br />Thank you true sword for sending me an absolutely fantastic piece. It arrive in 5 days after purchase in perfect shape My next purchase is with you.

This truly is the "Best Miyamoto Sword"<br /><br />Arrived within 3 days, boxed in a Musashi brand container. It was professionally wrapped in its sword bag and with it was a certificate of authenticity.<br /><br />The blade has a true temper line, where as others are truly distinguished this is subtle and beautiful. There are no pits or imperfections on the blade. It came sharper than swords I've paid 200+ dollars for by other vendors.<br /><br />This is a well balanced weapon, unlike other swords for this price from other vendors which are more like toys.<br /><br />It was shorter than I was expecting but thats hardly cause for alarm. The words Musashi and China are on the fittings near the guard but they show proudly rather than shamefully, as this piece does any China based forge good. <br /><br />I will only be buying from Musashi's TrueSwords department for my functional collection from now on, as other providers just can't produce the same quality.

I ordered my sword on Tuesday and received it on Thursday. Of course I was very anxious and excited to see this sword in person. This is my second sword and my first carbon steel Musashi. I'm in love. This is a amazing piece of art work as well as an impressive weapon. The sword is very sharp and is solid. It was oiled as mentioned. Honestly, words can not describe how nice this sword is. I will have to look for my next one immediately. Of course I will have to get cleaning kit as soon as possible. These swords are amazing. I wish I could sit under a teacher and master the skill of wielding this weapon in the proper fashion. If anyone has any good advise in regards to my next purchase email me at: [removed].

I already own one of the other swords in this line, the Tomoe Crest model. These are EXCEPTIONAL swords for this price point. I just ordered my Miyamoto model last night and can't wait to get it. The blades are by far the most well made of any lower priced sword, and the fittings are far and away the best in this range, even better than a lot of swords out there that cost 2 and 3 times as much. The only drawback with these models is that the steel is a bit soft, but all that means is that you can't cut a harder target like bamboo. But, It will cut just about anything else, up to and including traditional Japanese targets like Tatami mats or Straw bundles. And it's a true differentially hardened blade with a VERY attractive Hamon, something absolutely unheard of at this cost. These swords are light, fast, and well balanced, with nicely waisted tsukas, so forms are a joy to perform. The ito (handle wrap) is nothing exceptional and does feel a little shoelacey, but it's extremely tight and feels nice and comfy in your hands. The same (rayskin) underneath the ito is actually pretty good quality too, though its not a full wrap and after a lot of use you can start to see the wood core of the tsuka as the ito starts to pull back a little, but this is hardly something to complain about. The Tachi Kazi (the sound of the blade cutting the air) is loud and distinct, and will help let you know if you're achieving proper blade edge alignment on your cuts. If you're a beginning to intermediate student of a sword art where you'll need to do some cutting, this should definitely be a sword to consider, especially if you're on a budget. Even advanced practitioners would find this a useful addition to their arsenals. This is a sword that is meant to be put to use, but it looks good among my collection too! All in all, for the money, there is nothing out there that even comes close. As anyone who has been into katanas for awhile knows, you can spend 300 dollars on a sword and be really, really let down. But you won't be disappointed with this line, and with Trueswords exceptional customer service, even if there's a problem when it arrives, you can be assured that these guys will fix the problem, and do it fast. Normally, with the few small issues these swords have, I'd give it a high 3 or 4. But you have to consider value for your dollar too, which makes this an easy 5. Are you convinced yet? Dude, BUY IT.

This is the first shinken I have owned, and I am left speechless. Absolutely everything about this sword is simply amazing. The hamon is indeed real, the rayskin is definitely not plastic, there is no plastic or synthetic material, all fittings are as they say, and the sharpness of the blade is beyond fantastic. Never had I known what a true sword felt like until today (mostly because I only ever worked with bokken). The only thing that I didn't like, was that the sageo is a little loose, and therefore slides whenever it is grabbed. Though that may just be how it's suppose to be, in which case I can't complain. Do not be fooled by cheaper imitations, this is a sword that I would trust my life with in any situation (unless I was given a chance to have one made of jewel steel). I love this sword, and I love Musashi for making such brilliant pieces of art.

First off, i want to say that dealing with True Swords has been a pleasure. They answered my emails quickly and prefessionally, payment went without a hitch, and shipping was extremely fast. This is the only place ill shop for swords from here on out.<br /><br />The katana itsself is amazing. Much more than i expected when i ordered it. The fit and finish is on par with other swords i own that are over twice the cost. The hamon is real an very prominant. I was really surprised at how light and balanced it is. I havent done any test cuts with it yet, so ill have to save that part of the review for another time. I think youd be hard pressed to find a better all around katana for less that $100.

Exceptional product. Compared to the other Musashi brand swords i have collected, this piece stands above the par. Very sharp, no blade or saya defects. Came coated with a nice layer of oil as usual. The blade is extremely sharp and well put together. Also shipping was lightning fast. Ordered Sunday night, arrived wednesday morning. Thanks again True Swords!

First off TrueSwords is AMAZING!! Sword was ordered late Wed night arrived 11am Sat! Sword is amazing, just wish it had the Musashi logo imprint. The blade is awesome with a REAL hamon. One of the coolest things is the packaging! Gorgeous full color Musashi box, very nice quality sword bag, a sweet TrueSwords dragon logo poster, and best of all a parchment certificate from Musashi, very nice! All in all it's like Katana Christmas in a box for under $100!!

I don't think you can find a nicer sword anywhere near this price range; not to mention one that has a real hamon. I spent a lot of time trying to find something that was somewhat affordable, yet would still allow me to cut my enemies limbs off without breaking. I am very satisfied with my purchase. If you have any questions about the quality of this particular katana or the customer service of True Swords, rest assured; both will undoubtedly exceed your expectations.

this sword is amazing! the ito first off is ver nice and easy to get used to. the manuki are very nice and look like gold(but not). the tsuba is very well made(even made by machine) and very sturdy. the seppa is a nice brass color and say "Musashi". the blood grove runs all the way to the tip of the blade. i have only tested this katana on the shipping box it came in, and destroid with clean cuts. the sword came in 3 days with a musashi box with a certifricate and a True Swords poster. it came with no knicks or scratches. the saya is beautiful. the only rant is when taken out a few times it gets loose, but can be "locked" in place by turning the blade when sheating. i give this 15 out of 5.

First I just want to tip my hat to the people at TrueSwords. I am an avid online shopper and can honestly say I've never had a better online shopping experience anywhere. <br /><br />On to the sword: All the components are tightly fit together, there are no weak points are loose parts anywhere. The hamon is real and looks amazing. The sword in your hands feels very sturdy and light weight, strong and easy to maneuver. The wrap is very tight and the grip is very comfortable. Considering the quality of this sword, the price is a steal. You will not be disappointed with this one. It looks great, it feels great, it is great!!! I am beyond pleased.<br /><br />The only recommendation I have is to go ahead and get the cleaning kit when you buy this sword. It has everything you need at a great price and with a carbon steel blade, the kit is something you need. Once you own this sword you will want to take good care of it.

I have to say the shipping was very fast. As soon as I recieved the sword i had to test it to see if it could actually bend 45 degrees like it says. It bent 45 degrees but it didn't completely return to straight as stated. It wasn't that bad at all though. Toward the tip of the blade was slightly bent where it was held in the vice but was very easy to straighten back out. After all that, i had to do some cut tests (the blade came razor sharp). I started with some large juice bottles and it just shaved layers about 1/2 inch wide all the way down to the base of the bottle. Then i brought it to the woods in my backyard, and found some 1 to 2 inch thich oak trees. This blade is awesome. It effortlessly sliced though every time and still held its original shape and its razor sharp edge. I must have diced up at least ten trees in the test. So besides the slight failure to hold true form in its first test, I'd say this katana is WELL WORTH ITS PRICE!!!

Trueswords is the best! I'll never buy a sword from anyone else again, and Musashi swords are excellent. I received a sword that wasnt perfectly sharp, but otherwise perfect, and trueswords called ME and said theyd ship me one that was razor sharp FOR FREE. <br /><br />I love the real hamon and same on this sword, and the bo-hi makes it light and fast. the handle is tightly wrapped and the kissaki is well defined.

This katana is worth every single penny I paid for it. The shipping was amazingly fast as always and TS customer service never fails to amaze me how courteous and professional they are. <br /><br />On to the katana...<br /><br />It's super lightweight. Much lighter than the other Musashi swords I own. And this certainly doesn't mean cheap. It's the strongest sword I own so far. <br /><br />You can tell it's been handmade because it feels like the Saya "attaches" to the sword like a magnet. This was my biggest gripe in the lesser expensive Musashi Katana's I own. So in these models, they have perfected it.<br /><br />The Tsuba is very plain looking which is exactly why I chose this one over the Bamboo models. It also seemed thicker (another personal preference) then the others as well. <br /><br />After a close inspection, everything seemed to have arrived in perfect condition. No nicks, scratches, dents, or scuff on the sword or the Saya.<br /><br />On bonus for me was that it came with a certificate of authenticity. I didn't realize it came with one but it did and came in a very nice envelope and was written of high quality paper.<br /><br />Testing This Katana:<br />I just received it today but I was able to test it out in a few different ways.<br />The first was with a 20oz bottle full of water. Needless to say it passed through it with little effort leaving a very clean cut.<br />The second test I conducted was with a foam pool toy. The result is as predicted. I knew if it used little effort cutting a plastic bottle it would slice right through this inferior subject. Which it did.<br />Those were the only methods of testing I used so I cannot say much further about it's cutting power but I can say that so far, I am impressed.<br /><br />I did not try to bend the blade as the description explains you are able to do and it will return to its normal position. I do feel that it could if you tried however. The blade is very strong.

First, ordered friday. Arrived saturday. Second this blade totally reigns! Bought a cheap bamboo carpet just to test it, and not only did it cut through, I didn't even feel it. <br /> My next order will be for a new Tsuba to replace the current one. Actually planed on ordering the bamboo katana, but I think I did the right thing.<br /> And Finaly, this is truly a great sword for any collection.

This is my third musashi sword and by far the best. Although the hamon isn't very prominent, the blade really is flexible! It is also lighter than the other two musashis that i own (the ehada and wind dragon). I put the sword to work as I normally do (water jugs and 3 liter soda bottles) and realized that the blade didn't come very sharp. Buy an accusharp if you plan on using this sword. The blade also works very well on bamboo. Where my other two swords have been bent when cutting a couple of bamboo stalks (about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches wide) this one just slides right through and comes out on the other side the same way. Great product for the price!

Hey, I just got my Best Mitamoto Sword today, and I like it. The sword came just as all the review said it would: sharp, good quality, and kick a$$. For 90$, i don't think the sword could have been any better, and the shipping was extremely fast- I pretty much got it within 2 days after i ordered.

This sword is truly a bargain in every sense. You simply can't do better at this price point. That being said, don't expect a mirror finish on the blade and be prepared to buy a sword bag (the one it comes with is something akin to burlap). I bought a Musashi Bamboo Warrior and a Musashi Best Miyamoto at the same time. Both are very solid swords of basically the same construction. The only major differences are the hand guards, pommel caps and handle ornaments. The ornaments on the Bamboo are thicker than the ones on the Miyamoto and actually affect your grip on the handle (if you have small hands, go for the Miyamoto). The blade collar of my Best Miyamoto is stamped with the Musashi emblem where as the collar of my Bamboo Warrior is blank. I wouldn’t promise this to be true of any one particular sword because of their similar construction, but that’s how mine arrived. I would nearly guarantee that you will be surprised at the craftsmanship and detail put into this inexpensive katana. It is, in fact, a True Sword at an excellent price. Grab one quick before the manufacture realizes they can sell these swords at twice the price

All the good things about this sword that everyone has already mentioned are true. It's excellent quality, especially for the price. My only complaints are that the blade seems to lean slightly to the left towards the tip (even before cutting), and that despite the "sharp, hand-honed edge" straight from the box, the blade wasn't cutting very well for my initial test cuts with it. A short time sharpening with an Accusharp fixed that problem. Now, the sword cuts just fine. Overall, it's an excellent buy for the money.

Shipped promptly, according to both trueswords, and the certificate that was included with the sword, it has a real hamon, and is differentially hardened (water tempered) 1060 carbon steel blade. I can't see any sign that they are wrong, so I'm very happy for the money. It is well put together, and though I haven't taken it apart yet I feel it will work well for any cutting I intend to do with it. It doesn't feel cheesy in the hands like other inexpensive katanas I've held and nothing rattles, or shifts in my grip when swinging, I'd definitely purchase again, and will be looking at more products from Musashi.

I ordered this sword to perform cutting demonsrations with. I will be added to a dozen or so swords we ose for the purpose.<br />I recieved the sword 5 days after placing my order. The workmanship is quite nice. The blade seems well made. However, the ha seems a bit soft (I would guess the low 50s rockwell). The ha is very sharp in places but less so in others. The fittings are pretty good over all and everything seems tight. However, the tsuba has some stamping marks. The saya is lovely! <br />At $96 dollars shipped this weapon in a very good deal and compares well with swords thats others sell for twice the price.

real good looking sword few imperfections on edge of blade and not quite as sharp as i would like but overall amazing for the price. everything is nice and snug no rattles or looseness in handle or sheath, with a little sharpening it cuts through tatami and plastic bottles without trouble. definitely worth a buy.
