Musashi 1060 Carbon Steel Clay Tempered Katana Sword

Looking through the reviews for this sword, all I see are five star reviews. This did scare me a bit because I was thinking there was no way for this sword to get only perfect reviews, however after purchasing it I can see why. This is my first sword so I guess I don’t really know what to look for but I can’t find any defects and I am pretty impressed with how solid and clean everything feels about it.

Surpassed all my expectations at this price. Well constructed and it looks like it was lovingly made with exquisite detail - as beautiful as it is deadly!

After researching handmade/forged swords for hours and many different sites, I was amazed to come across this Musashi clay tempered Katana for such a reasonable price. I bought it for my husband as a gift. We are both "Forged in Fire" addicts. This sword arrived in perfect condition. The blade is straight and extremely sharp. Everything about this Katana screams quality. Don't let the price suggest something different. It's a beautiful work of art, well balanced with a full tang.

I purchased one of these recently, and I have to say that of all my swords (I also have 7 European style swords), this one is the best regarding both quality of craftsmanship and materials. Some of my other swords cost twice as much, and are made of 440 stainless and the grip constantly loosens on the tang. Nice for hanging on a wall, but could never be used for "home defense" unless you wanted to beat someone with a metal stick :o) The hamon on this one is just subtle enough and is clearly "organic" and irregular, as it should be. Definitely not wire brushed or fake. Everything is tight and well assembled. The sword slides easily but then seats snugly into the scabbard. The packaging was very good as well. The blade was oiled and wrapped in cellophane. The cardboard box and cloth cover were also good quality. The sword arrived in perfect condition (no scratches, fingerprints, etc). The only thing that looks or feels a little cheap on it is the cord wrapping on the scabbard (feels like thick shoelace material), but it's such a little detail compared to the rest that it is easy to forgive/ignore. I can't bring myself to cut anything with it for now because it's too beautiful, but it is very sharp indeed. Handling is light and this sword is nimble, exactly NOT like my European swords that feel slow and blade-heavy. 4 weeks later, and I am still amazed at how good this sword is for the price... Definitely recommended. No buyer's remorse. In fact, I'll be buying more Musashi swords!

Ok a small back ground on me , I've been a blacksmith for 30 years and a bladesmith for 20 years . I bought two Musashi katanas from True Swords , for the purpose of destroying them . This being one of them . I am no martial artist, nor do I have any original Japanese Katanas to compare fit of hardware to. So I am going to speak only on durability of this blade . First , I skipped over cutting water jugs or any other soft impact items. I went right for pine 2x2s. This blade passed right through with no deflection of the blade , no chips to the blade or edge roll . Second , I tied 16 pieces of 2" diameter bamboo together and proceeded to hack and chop at them with a total of 30 swings. Again no edge roll or chips to the blade . Third I took the blade and proceeded to beat it through a 12" diameter red oak log with with a 2.5 pound blacksmiths hammer , splitting six pieces from it like you would with an ax . All of this was done right out of the box, no extra sharpening was done . After my tests the only visible damage was caused from the hammer striking the spline of the blade . I then took the blade into the shop and was able to put a razors edge on the blade . In short I could not reproduce this blade for cost it sells for let alone sell a finished katana . Would I recommend the Musashi 1060 steel blade ? My only responce would be Hell Yes I Would ! Respectfully Ryan Kern Whiskey Ditch Forge

it was love at first sight with this blade. I opened the box and was very impressed straight from the beginning, and when I drew it from the sheath I fell in love. the blade is just gorgeous, polished and so sharp I cut 1/4 inch thick leather with ease. simply put, this is a must have for any collector

This sword is the best

The pictures don't do this sword justice. It is absolutely stunning and feels very sturdy and well made. Comes with a certificate of authenticity as well, which I wasn't expecting. I haven't cut anything yet but after seeing how beautiful it is, I don't think I want to anymore. It didn't have a scratch on it and came with some grease that you just wipe off. So worth the money!

This sword is beautiful, and every bit what I expected. It came razor sharp, and finely polished. The handle is tightly wrapped, and does not feel like it will come undone, even with heavy use. The tsuba looks very will made, and the attention to detail on this sword is amazing.

My first sword purchase and I am extremely satisfied with both the sword and service from Trueswords. For the price, it is a quality sword.

I have to start off by saying I feel like a complete and total BADASS holding this thing! Alright now that I got that out if the way I can start my review. This katana is the REAL f***ing deal, and that's saying a lot for a $80 katana. Most katanas under that $200 price range are made out of some cheap crap material. This katana as far as I can tell is not. I have friend that owns a $200+ katana sword and the only differences I and tell between the two is that his cost him $200 while mine only cost $80 haha. best sword for the money the fit and finish is up there with $200-$300 swords and it does come very sharp and true swords did an amazing job getting it to me as fast as possible only 2 days! i even have a few buddys going to buy one from here to use at there dojo because of how well it preformed for the money. great product!! thanks true swords! i will be buying from you again for sure!!!

I am very happy I ordered this sword. There is a lot of crap out there. I spent several hours researching katana before I knew a good deal :) This sword is very sharp, strong, and perfect finish. It is balanced where it should be. Everything fits together perfect and nothing is loose or mitch matched. The scabbard holds the sword well. I can hold the entire thing upside down and the sword does not fall out, but at the same time I can draw the katana easily... Great buy, I would tell anyone to buy this and I already have :)<br />-Shane

This is not just a sword; this is a work of art. If you've ever heard of the phrase "Danger cloacked by Beauty", this awesome weapon should be the first thing that comes to your mind. I just got this sword yesterday, which was quite impressive for me because I didn't expect it to get here until sometime next week. I love everything about this sword. The blade is nice and sharp, the handle itself is wrapped nicely in the ray skin, the sheath has a nice shine to it and the lace wrapping on it is cool. Plus, I love the dragon designs on it. The only thing I find weird about this sword is the "China" label on the circular part separating the handle from the blade. I find it quite ironic that a japanese samurai sword is being made in China. Other than that, this sword is flawless. I give this 5 out of 5. True Swords, you guys have done it again.

A VERY good sword for the money! I cut the box that it was shipped in and went through it like a hot knife through butter. There are several details that are imperfect that you may find better on a more expensive sword, however you will not find any one priced like this. They usually are stainless at this price. First sword i ever got and i must say that this is better than my expectations! Blade is correct, about 39.5 in, with scabbard it would about about 40.5 in. Pleased with shipping, just as the estimated date it would arrive. When you first take out the blade there is some oil, could easily clean it off. The Hamon, I'm not the greatest at depicting if it is authentic or not but i would say it is.

by far the coolest blade i own...real hamon is nice...great edge and excellent weight/balance is i didnt know better id say it was a paul chen...the folks at trueswords hit another home run...my 2nd sword from them in 3 days and will soon be buying more

Really solid feeling with no rattle. Sharp as can be right out of the box. Goes into the Saya easily but stays in snug in a good way. Unfortunately the Tsuba is missing paint as if it chipped. So there’s a big silver metallic blemish where the paint should be that is a bit of an eyesore. For the cost not an absolute deal breaker but I’m still a bit disappointed with this being my first purchase on here and all. However the sword itself is nice I just was unlucky I’m sure. Shipping kept getting delayed too but I’m sure the current situation with covid is the reason.
