Most Excellent! Reviewed by Stephen Schroeder on Mar 16, 2016   5 out of 5

This was my 7th katana, but my first Shirasaya. I have the Ryumon tanto and it is a very nice piece so I decided to try one of their swords. I was very impressed with what I received! The natural wood finish of the saya and tsuka is excellent! The pictures here do not do it justice. It is a nice change of pace from all the black sayas of most of my collection. The buffalo horn koiguchi is beautiful. All the items described in the product description were present. The certificate and the owner’s manual are very well done. The cleaning kit also has an instruction manual for how to properly clean and care for your sword. The real joy of this piece for me is the blade. No kidding guys, it is spectacular! The sword bag was wrapped neatly and my anticipation grew as I undid it and pulled the piece out. The habki had a nice tight fit and being used to having a tsuba to help, it was an effort to have the blade drawn. There was a plastic wrap around the blade that was oiled to keep it pristine while in transit/storage. I unwrapped that and then cleaning the residue with some rubbing alcohol revealed one of the prettiest blades I have seen and certainly the best looking of my collection. There were no nicks, no scratches, no blemishes and was highly polished. It was not razor sharp, but very sword sharp as I easily turned the shipping box into two pieces with barely any effort on one stroke. Every sword I have makes its own tachikaze and this blade is almost a musical note when swung properly. I could not be happier. I got this while a 25% sale was going on so I consider it a real value. Shipping was very fast. If you are looking to add this style of sword to your collection, the Ryumon piece is an excellent choice.
