Bought as a Christmas gift and very happy with the quality of this sword . It arrived well protected and packaged and when i opened it to inspect it I was very surprised at how sharp it was . I know I'll be buying again from True Swords !
Absolutely the best 40$ i have ever spent! Handle is well wrapped and no loose parts. It is a bit lighter than my other katanas, but thats no big deal to me. This is a solid katana for only 40$. I have no doubt that this sword can handle some abuse. But please be carefull and responsible. I wouldn't try chopping down a tree with it, so to speak. I doubt you can find this quality and beauty for 40$ anywhere else but here. It will fit well with my higher end katanas. YES I would highly recommend this to anyone. Thanks True Swords. Signed, ham'rd skull ??
It is a good blade, 40 bucks for a real functional katana is a hell of a deal, The blade is good, The fittings are are nice n tight, Imitation rayskin, But does feel good, Love the shiny black and gold, And came quite sharp, 2 things though, 1, Its not EXACTLY as bright as the picture, Close but not quite, 2, It is full tang, But it is EXTREMELY light for a katana, The lightest in my collection by far which is amazing, And IMO, Mush has a higher quality level then an Onikiri, So you wont be disapointed in this.
Great sword! Quite happy with how it turned out. The sword obviously has had some personal attention. The tip has a slightly different sharpening bevel than the rest of the sword but is still sharp, it seems like it's supposed to have that. The handle is tightly wrapped and not frayed. However, the sword is meant to be drawn from the right so the kurikata and shitodome are a but akward. Other than that, I'm completely satisfied
I recieved the Bamboo Katana today and I must say I am impressed to be honest I had exspected Budk to try to pawn off some flea market pos on me like it was top tier loot. But altho this Katana is not exactly top tier it is close. Feels like a natral part of my arm, I order the Crane and exspressed I wanted this one and you know what? Altho it was out of stock Budk sent me the Bamboo instead. There was a chip it the saya but I'm not complaining about it. The handle is gluded on to the tang (bad budk, bad boy) it keeps everything together. No fractures to the 1045 high carbon steel when I slamed it into my Claymore to test its duriblity. All and all a great sword. I give it a five out of five
Good balance and feel. Well constructed, looks good. It definitely does not look or feel like a $40 sword. Blade on mine also seemed slightly bent to the right upon arrival. No other issues, and given the price I will bend it back and not really worry about it. I will likely buy another sword or two from this line in the future, they are priced really well for how good they are.
Higly recommend this to anyone who wants a good katana without breaking the bank. It cuts through decent sized plastic bottles and boxes. Mine has a chip in the blade but its my fault. I am definitely going to use this when the zombies come!
The blade came sharp as all hell with mine, Like to the point i dont even want to clean it with rice paper, Thats how sharp it came, Its full tang, And looks gorgeous, Nice n shiny, The only problem that came with mine was the loose saya top part, "Could take it on n off" Thats no huge problem and nothing super glue wont fix, For 40 bucks, This is really an amazing buy, The craftsmanship is impressive, Supremely impressive considering the price, Looks good and smells good, Scabbard is nice, I definetly reccomend this, Its too bad it doesn have alternate colors like red or blue, I would definetly buy more if that was the case.
Very cool sword, looks great on my wall. Very sharp too, definitely a good katana especially considering the price too.
I bought this sword about a month ago wanted for a long time and now was able to get it the craftsman ship is great very sharp like I wanted balance is nice a great piece for self defense and sword play at a good price like all ways .
I wanted a katana that was not $300 but was still really good and this does that. For $40 it is a really good katana. It comes very sharp. All I have cut was the shipping box it came in and it sliced through it in a single hit the 3 pieces i made out of the box. It is really good for $40.
Just bought this model and the tatsu maki i think its called. i've tried many swords from musashi/munetoshi and others in the 60-200 dollar range and wanted to take take it easy lol. they recently arrived, for the most part i'm very happy with the purchase. Both are razor sharp, I'm a big fan of the textured sayas and the fittings on both were good (especially the tatsu) The samurai full tang model has an issue with something in the handle, either the tsuka/blade/tsuba or any combination of these doesn't fit right and results in a gap when the blade is in the saya. Also when swinging it doesnt necessarily feel secure. This however is the 2nd time i;ve purchased this one, i gave the 1st one away as a gift and it was tight fitting and felt good so this is probably just something i can fix with a little tlc. The important thing here is for sub 40 bucks what you get at the very least is a decent quality carbon steel blade. Both of these are well balanced and suprisingly aesthetically appealing. The gold accent on the samurai full tang pops out and the tatsu has a motiff on the saya that really looks crisp and compliments the sword. These are also shorter than a lot of standard size katanas so for younger practitioners i think these could be an option to consider especially if you are working on a tight budget. Because of the price make sure to properly exam the sword upon arrival and be able to identify basic safety check points if you will on the overall construction and its security. Very sharp, no joke so be very careful. I won't lecture, be responsible great option to learn about the katana sword and general maintenance. I wouldn't recommend using these any targets other than light (paper water jugs cardboard newspaper rolls etc.) If you aren't going to be using these for any kind of actual training related to swordsmanship. maybe just a collector or for decor these are great options, they feel considerably solid compared to mall katana and i would say they are "functional" so if you pull it out to show friends the edge will surely impress them
I wanted a sword for a while and didnt really think it would be that awsome but when it came i almost pust the fedex person over getting it from them and the sword was awsomer than i thought so i will order more from trueswords. If you not sure about trueswords i guess you could check out other peoples trueswords reviews on youtube.
verey fast shipping 2 days very good sword very sharp too. I cut a soup can in half with no problem, even hit the side of my brick house not one scratch on the blade. My girlfriend even wants one.I will be buying more swords from True Swords
Okay so I'm not 100% sure about this sword, being that it's my first and thus I'm unable to range how good it is.

But from what I can tell, it has a good price (Got mine during BLOWOUT SALE). It's a stunning looking sword and it makes for a good first sword for the future collection.

However, I tried to cut the cardboard box that housed the sword and I got different results. It went half way 1st time, all the way 2nd time and nothing the 3rd time. Maybe I just don't know how to use it yet, still a good sword.

Oh yes, the deliver was quick.
Recieved in record timing! Great customer service and support!
The sword is an absolutely great buy! You can buy a $30 sword from a lil mall shop but it won't touch the quality of this katana! Hands down great investment for beginning and my son and I can't wait til our training warrants a higher quality swords and we will be ordering from true swords again and again! 7 ★★★★★★★
Just received this sword and simply and very happy with the purchase. I'm looking to get what i consider my great quality sword, this is not that one, but while i wait to pick it out i saw this and was intrigued. This sword arrived after 2-3 days very fast well packaged and secure.

Blade came oiled. Everything is as advertised.

If you are beginner collector or just looking for a great budget sword rest assured you are getting a usable and beautiful sword in this deal, i highly encourage anyone to get before the sale ends.

will be doing a more detailed review on youtube, have to go to work but if you want to see how this sword performs and the specs check out my channel i should have a video posted by the end of the day.

Jdmsword14
This is the first sword I've bought from here and I am impressed with the quality and price. It took longer to be delivered than suggested (FedEx!!) but it was well worth the wait. It looks just like it does in the pictures and is sturdy so it will be there if I ever have to swing it at something.
Amazing, just amazing. this sword has amazing detail and features! The tsuba is beautiful the saya is excellent, only problem is that the carrying bag doesn't seem like its made of cotton, but I'm not mad, the price was GREAT!! $40 got me a sword that looks and feels like its worth $70-$100. I'm amazed at this blade, Thank you True Swords!
Great buy for the money. Did a cut test and it cut a mat pretty cleanly. Absolutely beautiful if your looking to start a display collection.also a great backyard cutter. The fittings are more of a metallic pewter color than black and mine had some tiny bubbles in the finish of the handgaurd not a big deal though. Only down side for me is that the sword bag wasent cotton it kindof felt like polyester but all in all I would have been happy with it if I paid around 70$
First product I bought when I joined this site and I must say, I am a very satisfied customer. The blade was neatly packaged, when I opened it I nearly geeked out but sustained from doing so. It felt incredible holding a real, superb, well made katana. The blade is straight, slick, blood groove design nicely, very sharp indeed, and the handle and guard...beautiful. I will definitely be buying from this site again when I acquire more money. Thank you True Swords, pleasure doing business.
I am really happy with this sword. Fast delivery, it came in just a few days. I've had it for a few hours now and I've done some cut tests and I don't really have anything bad to say other than the hamon isn't actually from tempering. There is a nice one on it but its hand done. Super sharp and tight handle wrap. Subaru is great and it looks better than the picture. Ill be doing a youtube review for it soon!
this sword is beautiful..i finally got one before it got sold out again and i am impressed with how it looks..it's not stronger than my other swords but it looks better..lol..GET THIS..stop reading and buy before it's gone again!!!!!!!!!!!
On the picture it slightly looks like it has a real hamon line made with temper process but it doesn't, but thats not a big of a deal since it is a $40 battle ready full tang katana after all. It is indeed sharp enough but not razor sharp, it looks beautiful, it is functional even though I haven't done any test cutting with it besides a piece of paper in mid air which it cut straight through. But either way, great buy, great sword, looks good, well worth the price, once again thank you True Swords for great service and product quality.
OMG, not sure where to start. Love the sword, and really cant say i dislike anytthing about it, been over it a few times now and wow, completely amazing in all areas from what i can tell.
shipping was fast and when i opened the fedex package (there were other swords in there i order as well) was actually suprised to see the Musha boxes.

beautiful sword, feels great when you hold it, killer looks, no complaints
I received this beauty today and I am blown away! Its very, very sharp! The artwork on this is beautiful, I highly recommend this sword!
When it arrived I was stunned, and all I could think was Wow. It is a very beautiful katana, and could easily go for well over $100. It is VERY VERY SHARP BE CAREFUL!!

I would recommend this to any sword collector it serves as a nice display piece or you could use it for cutting!
Just bought this as a Christmas present for my cousin. This is her first katana and I'm definitely sure that she'll like it. The work on this sword is great and looks beautiful. I will leave it up to her to see how good it really is. Thank you True Swords for having a beautiful katana like this on such a low price!
This sword was waiting for me when I got home from work and hour ago, and it is absolutely beautiful. And extremely sharp. The design on the guard is even more amazing in person. Minus a few imperfections and nicks on the blade, which I fully expect on a sword of any kind, it is perfect in every way. For $40 not counting shipping, it's beyond a great deal.
Simply one of the most beautifully crafted blades I have seen so far! I am completely in love with this blade. The design is flawless. It is beautifully centered and decorated. The quality of this product for the price of simply 40 dlls It's incredible. A must have for any blade lover. Glad I purchased it!
this is the most beautiful sword i own it came very sharp so be careful no problem at all but seeing as how how you can find it in the musashi section i hoped it would come with the certificate of authenticity but it didnt
vary nice looking sword this is my first order and I am definitely impressed. Sword comes sharp already but can hold a razor sharp blade with very little sharpening. only complaint is the handle could use a little more attention to detail but hey look at the price I got a quality blade that all I have to change is to make a hand made hard wood handle. I would have have another.
This sword came to me polished and it was simply beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. It came to me with a crack in the handle, but with true swords great customer service, it all got worked out. I pulled it out of the box and it was extremely sharp. I cut every can, 2 liter bottles, and water bottles in half with the first swing. This will definatly not be the last sword I buy from true swords! Thanks True Swords :)
Very nice katana cant beat it for under 150$ very impressed and even more impressed with the shipping times very ordered on sunday and had it by tuesday....
this is my first real full tang carbon steel sword it is just beautiful very sharp and it came oiled if i do make any more sword purchases in the future it will definately be from true swords.
This may be the first time I have bought a sword from True Swords but I know it will not be my last! I must say this sword is no toy, it is the real deal! I have seen this type of sword at other sites for $100+ It arrived when it was meant to (and in the morning too!). My only problem is that it is a little loose in the scabbard. But this sword is sooooooooo beautiful!!! And the balance is correct.
Very beautiful sword. Blade was oiled when i got it, the sheath does catch a little when i put the blade in or pull it out, nothing too bad though, verrry sharp. Overall im very happpy and ofcourse will be doing business with true swords again. Epic buy for 40 bucks
Truly a beautiful sword, I have no complaints at all. I am very glad the oil was on the sword to keep it from rusting. The shipping time was super quick. A very good value sword.
A nice sword for $40
Definitely a "backyard beater", it cuts through a 1 Inch diameter stick of bamboo with ease. (Keep in mind bamboo is hollow, and you must use proper swinging techniques)

Sword came sharp, could cut through paper easily.

Like other reviews, the piece at the end of the handle is loose, but nothing superglue can't fix.

Beautiful sword, the "samurai specials" are very reliable
great sword... razor sharp and single beveled which is traditional but often forgotten on many swords. the tsukakashiri ( also known as the kashiri ) is not as loose as many people say it is. in my opinion this sword is better, or if not, the same as any other musashi sword on retail for 70 dollars. 5/5 stars... i will definantly buy from true swords again. :)
Great sword, very nice weight, sharp blade, nd the over all sword is just beautiful i totally recommend it for anyone whos thinking of buying it
Shipped in the time promised, and in perfect condition.
No nicks, bumps, scratches, dents, dings, or mars. Period.
Came wicked sharp, and is straight from butt to tip.
And, as with all internet purchases, one never knows what they'll be getting, but I trusted in True Swords to make good on either service, or product. I was not disappointed. They're never getting this one back.

Pros: $40 + S&H, good quality, thoughtful art and decoration, and detailed craftsmanship, as well as tight fittings.
Cons: It's a sword, and while functional, is really meant for display, and showing off to your friends. (Which is really a pro AND a con.)
Wow this sword is beast! it is very sharp! and clean its the best buy iv'e had, especially for $40 its great i want to buy another one haha but i will buy more different ones, thanks guys!
Fantastic!I honestly couldn't be happier with this sword.I ordered it on Tues.,it came on Sat.(pretty quick shipment)The sword itself is great looking.A few MINOR scuffs on one side of blade but all in all in great condition. It is razor sharp as advertised and very sturdy.A great buy for the price.I was a bit unsure before I ordered but now I am definite that I will be a repeat customer. This website has great deals, they are quick with shipping and they have really cool items for sale.Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed if you buy from here,I know I'll be ordering more myself.5 of 5 stars all day!!
This sword is the bomb. this wont be the last sword im gona order. Just a hint on ordering things. NEver order swords near the weekends or its gona tell one hell of a time to get to you. haha ive learned my lesson. Other wise the sword is great in condition razor sharp just that the handle couldve been done a little nicer. some bumps on the handle.
OMG i was worried but it is very much worth all of $40.
it was double boxed for protection and the same box's were reduced in half by the same sword. This is not something you want kids to touch.
I could not ask for a better sword for it's price came razor sharp it took two days to get to my house I will shop her again
AMAZING TO THE OVER 9000 POWER!!! The best sword you can buy under $50! Weather you have a full sword collection or this will be your first sword. My only problem is that the tsuba is a little scratched...
Ok here is the deal. On this I was expecting something of lesser quality, but to my surprise this thing was excellent. pretty well crafted, very firm wrapping, sword was surprisingly sharp, the gold work was almost spot on, the tsuba looks ceramic with clear coating, but still metal, overall not bad not bad at all.

If this is what you get for 39bucks buying from you all at trueswords, then you can bet I will buy again from you all and a better blade to invest in.
Overall, a good buy. Nice and sharp. the balance is a little higher up the blade than i prefer, but its good and solid in the handle. i noticed a small crack start to form in the handle when i took off the cap, but nothing big. Its an awsome sword for $40. and its not one of those with the blade glued in. i took it all apart. I love this thing. highly recommended for someone who is starting tamashigiri, or jsut collecting.

good shipping too, had trackiong of the thing fo no extra cost. fedex too.
very impressed....wasn't expecting much for $40
quite beautiful, cut my finger clean on it. very sharp
wow i was amazed when i received this sword. very sharp, fulltang and great detail on the tsuba. good job truesword. 5/5
It took two days and all I got to say is wow it very lightweight is my 2nd sword I bought here this one is very sharp it tore my box to shreds got to say wow when they mean battle ready the mean it…well it was worth the buy great price too.trust me its a awesome sword totaly fuckin badass
My second purchase from this website, and its a proud one, this sword is beautiful, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The blade came very sharp, and I am very pleased
a very elegant sword. It came razor sharp (as i expected) and of course it was delivered to my door in 2 days. keep it up trueswords!
this sword is wonderful it is light in the hands and is vary beutful it is vary sharp but the fittings are just a tid bit looes but is nothing to worry about and the ito moves arouned a bit to but if you knowe tsukamaki just rewrapp it but all in all it is well worth it . oh and everybody says that the end cap falls off to me this is not true becues mine has never fallen off now i can't say that it is not complety true becues it may have happend to others but if it is or is't true it is still a well worth sword.
I was suspect on the this sword because I haven't ever bought one before and the price seemed to be really cheap to me. I just got it and am delighted. For a first time katana buyer I am impressed and will be buying more from this sight in the future.
Awesome Sword. Very much worth the purchase. Very sturdy, beautifully crafted, and perfectly balanced. Buy this sword, trust me!
I Got my sword in the mail today and this is my second musashi sword. Everything on it appears to be great for what I paid for it. The shipping was amazingly quick, I ordered on a friday and received it on the following tuesday and I live in illinois (they ship from GA)
One of the first swords I've ever bought, I got this one along with another sword from this site. It got here in good time and in good condition. By far the most beautiful Katana I have ever seen, and sharp as hell. It sliced right through the boxes they came in. I would definitely recommend this sword for any collector.
Great in every way and great price, i highly recommend it.

another great sword true swords!!!
This sword straight out of the Musashi Forge (although it's technically not considered Musashi) is a work of art that is not only beautiful but deadly as well. It is a completely functional full tang katana that is of the highest quality for the low price it is sold at. The blade has an extreme curve w/ a blood groove and hamon line--that is likely not real but painted on--and is a little shorter and lighter than the average katana. It is an exceptional sword that I would recommend to those who don't want to spend a ton of money on a real blade.
This was my first sowrd i have ever got from this site and ill tell you it looks great and it is ONLY 40 you cant get that price for such a great sword anywhere else!
This sword is AMAZING, the blade is nice and isn't wobbly at all, my blade came a little dirty but that can be easily fixed, it fits nice and easily into the saya but is a little loose when it is inside it, this is my first real sword and I am extremely happy with it, Thank you True Swords for this amazing product.
I got the sword today and WOW, it is beautiful! It also came pretty sharp and the detail was breathtaking. It is by far the deadliest katana I have so far, and is absolutely a good buy. It came oiled, which is great since that would prevent it from getting rust on the way, and the blade is extremely thick! But this sword, I assure you you will not be disappointed! Trueswords.com, you have done it again!
This sword by far is one of the most beautiful ones i have bought from this site. for only 40 bucks this is a muct have for any collector. the blade is sharp, it cleaved the box in half. the tsuba is beautful with the gold on it. the saya is detailed too which is nice along with the end of the hilt. i just cant get over how beautiful this sword is everyone should have this sword in their collection.
This is a wonderful sword for the price. No real visable defects other than some slight scuffs on the blade which can be polished out.Pretty sharp too! I give it a five based on the quality for the low price.
i just got this sword 5 minutes ago. it was everything i wanted out of it. it has a great edge right out of the Saya. the balance is perfect. i am so happy with it. i will be buying more swords from this site. thank you so much True Swords. please keep up the great work.
I don't even have a high enough vocabulary to explain how amazing this friggin thing is. It feels so .... professional. It came in a cool little cloth thing :P When I took the sheath off the blade was wet with some kind of liquid... it smelled funky and kinda burned my tongue. I have no idea what it was, but it was cool too. :)
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! THIS SWORDS IS AWESOME. i knew from the picture it would be really pretty but when you get it... OH MY GOD! so shiny! haha very sharp. im actually contemplating on not sparring with it so it stays oober pretty. definately recomend it.
This is the third sword i have bought from True Swords and by far the best. I cant imagin a more wonderfully awsome piece of art for even three hundred dollars. I cant believe i got lucky enough to find a buy like this. It is a really sharp sword, has a perfect blood line thick and sturdy but light wieght at the same time. If you can only buy one sword in your life make it this one, thanks True Swords.
I Just got this sword today and I must say IT IS SMEXY! This is the first full tang carbon steel katana I've ever owned and I love it.
I'm new to katana collecting, I have bought 4 Shines swords which I love. I decided to try a different brand, I decided on this one because of price. Being a disabled veteran on limited income can't go for high end anything. I really like the blade on this sword and the color on handle and guard however I'm not found of the sheath. It has the look and feel of some kind of plastic, I prefer the high gloss on the Shinwa swords.
This is great sword, the quality of everything is absolutely perfect, but going so far as to say this is a sharp is a big stretch. I couldn't even slice through a hollow cardboard box using an overhead swing... Again it's beautiful, delivery was fast too; its just not sharp at all
Exceptional speed with delivery. Every aspect of this sword is solid. I could deal without the artificial hamon line, but for this price; I couldn't pass this up.
Came exactly as advertised. Razor sharp and almost cut through a piece of sturdy cloth held flat on the blade. It could have cut all the way through had the blade not been slightly warped to the right. Maybe a little more foam should be put in for shipping. Good heft and balance, and I think I'll have it for a long time. Snug fit in the saya, nicely oiled as well.
This was my first katana ever and I was a little worried considering the low price but when it arrived I was amazed with the quality. There were no cracks in the saya and no chips in the blade. I would recommend this to anyone that is new to katana's
Very cool and sharp. cutsvand hacks through small trees aboutthe size of a quarter, maybe a little bigger. took it apart to see how far down the tang is. notto wholeway down, stops around 4inches fromyhe metal butt cap. the wood on the handle a hit meh. othen that, great buy.
Pretty cool sword. I just like the fact that it says "china" on it but it cuts my watermelon so I'm happy. And no I'm not black.
I received my sword yesterday, though I am impressed to an extent, I pretty much paid for a decent blade, and only the blade, the furnishings on the sword are sub-par at best, but again, I expected as much, my only real problem with the sword are the mekugi, as they are incredibly easy to remove, and make me question the integrity of the tang, but all in all not terrible.
The sword came in good working order. The gold relief was a tad darker than shown. The habaki had the words China printed on them, not surprised, but a little disappointed that they would go that far as to print that on there. The tsuba had some stray paint marks that could only be seen by closely inspecting it. The blade has some dirt and grime on the edges, which took a while to wipe out. Overall, it was very beautiful, but not up to full expectations. The colors seemed rather dull compared to the picture. The sheath slides smoothly, but you have to be careful not to let it slide off on its own. The design was great, but I was hoping they put a little more effort into this.
The sword is very nice to look at. The blade has a nice shine to it and the cuba is very original. The blade itself comes sharpened and cuts through water bottles like a hot knife through butter. I only had two problems with this blade. First the cotton cord wrapping came a bit frayed. The second the blade came a little bent about 9 inches from the tip. Its only about a 1/8th of an inch to the right so it isn't noticeable at all unless you are really looking for it. All in all for $40 this was a great buy.
At first I was a little skeptical this being my 4th order and the last ones were terrible blades were dull and one even broken but this is an amazing blade it was sharp, beautifully decorated no loose parts and it cut perfectly it was double boxed bubble wrapped and all I will defiantly be ordering from here again
OK, so I got this sword a year ago,I have bent it several times to check the spring in the steel, comes back to true every time. Fittings rattle a little bit, but hey its a $40 sword. I rolled up some old carpet 6" across, and saoked it in water. I did a cut test on it and it slices right through like butter. Would easily be worth $100. Blades performance is top notch.
When I got the sword first things I noted right off the bat were,
the good, the blade was sharp as advertised and the sheath was very nice and a good texture,
the bad, the guard was a tidbit wobbly but that's just nitpicking, and now the real kicker, the pommel on the sheath came loose after 2 swings which I found highly disappointing, I was able to repair it using concrete cement but I have not cut anything with it for fear of it falling off again but I will test it soon.
This being my first sword i cannot say that i wasn't disappointed but it is a good sword for a beginner, seeing now what the pommel looks like i can for certain say that i will not be buying any swords with this style of pommel but nonetheless I will buy from this website again as always with careful research.
4/5 stars
Arigato
Pretty good sword, very beauriful. Edge sort of bent and a bubble in the paint but worth it for 40 bucks. Very fas shipping, got here in 2 days. Very oiled. Edge not as sharp as I would have liked. I really reccomend this sword.
I have had my sword for about 3 days and today the scabbard cracked. I am careful w/ my swords but this scabbard is easily dented and cracked. No complaints about the sword itself. The scabbard is terrible, but the blade is great. I just fixed the scabbard w/ super glue and wear the sword w/ the bag over the scabbard so that nobody can see all of the dents and the crack in the scabbard. The blade is as good as any 200+ doller sword by musashi. Just wear the bag over the scabbard and tie it on. It looks traditional, professional, and nobody can tell what a bad scabbard it is. Good blade. Sorry to sound like such a complainer. Its a good buy. Dont worry. I'm just a little picky when it comes to these things. I think the scabbard is just there to keep the sword safe. It does that well. The sword cant rattle around in it. Like i said, just tie the bag over the scabbard.(the bag that it comes w/)
i can say this sword is a nice piece to own i liked the tsuba,i can say if you are considering owning this sword it would be a sound buy
There were a few disappointments with this purchase; but they were minor. The delivery was prompt, taking about 3 days to get to Michigan where I ordered it. The blade itself is in excellent condition with no visible scratches; it's perfectly straight (no side-to-side bending) and well-balanced. The brass fittings are tight and solid as advertised, and the handle is secure with two bamboo pegs, and the black wrapping is genuine cotton. Unfortunately the blade rattles around in the saya a bit, and is hard to draw as the mouth of the saya is a bit too tight around the fuchi. Most disappointingly, the kashira is only tied down on one side; the cotton is just tucked in out of sight on the other, making the kashira loose and prone to falling off.
That said, for 40 dollars it's still a good buy, especially the blade, and I certainly appreciate its affordability. The loose kashira is a problem, but easily fixable with glue, or, if you'd rather not glue it down and you happen to know how to properly tie off the ito, that shouldn't be too hard. Overall I am pleased with the purchase.
This sword is a beautiful one. I love it. The only problem was that the Kashiri feel of and I cant find it. I think possibly my dog ran off with it. But anyhow for the price and beauty of the sword you can't go wrong.
Let me start by saying that this sword is absolutely beautiful. The blade fits snugly in the saya, but its not too tight. The balance was impressive (about 5 inches from the tsuba) and the blade geometry was pretty good too. The blade didn't come very sharp but that was fairly easy to fix.
Unfortunately, when you're only paying $40 for a sword there are gonna be some flaws. The ito came loose in 2 spots after a few drills, exposing the wood underneath. A while later the tsukagashira (butt of handle) came so loose I had to use superglue to keep it in place.
Despite its flaws, this is still an incredibly good sword for the money. Great sword for beginners in Japanese swordsmanship or just a nice functional wall-hanger.
first of all it is a very pretty sword an the design is stunning. as a cutting tool it worked nicely for a few seconds until the metal piece on the en of the hale fell off.i ha to repair it with super glue.
This is a really nice sword, blade is straight as an arrow, feels lightweight in your hands. Artwork is nice. It was shipped with a coating on the blade for protection, I have not tested the edge at this point, but I feel good saying that for $40 you'll be happy with this purchase.
This is a hand forged sword (so I've been told), and it costs just under $40. When I received this sword, I was pretty well impressed with the sword. Every part was a tight fit, the only problem was that the sword was not even close to being straight. it was veering off to the right by about an inch, and it was way off balance. I was looking for a sword to practice with, and this would not do. That being said, true swords emailed me a return shipping label, and a full refund faster than greased lightning. I purchased the "Samurai Special - Tatsu Maki Full Tang Katana", which was the same price. It arrived quickly, and I am happy with it. It also veers ever so slightly to the right as well, but again, this is a $40 hand forged sword. Overall, I have had a good experience and great quality for the money. Just check to see how straight your sword is. enjoy.
Don't let the fact that it's in the 'Musashi' section fool you, this sword is not up to that standard. I haven't tried to cut with it yet, but the blade geometry is very thin, and the fit doesn't inspire much confidence. The handle and fitting materials aren't up to Musashi standards, and caution should be used when using it for cutting, but probably not any more so than you would with any cutting practice.

What can you expect for $40 though? It looks nice from a distance, and even up close if you don't look too closely at the wrap. It will probably even cut decently. That said, the actual Musashi swords for only $20 more are a much, much better value and true backyard cutters.
I just recieved this Sword yesterday afternoon. Right out of the box, I was impressed. mine also was a little tight. But came out a little more pressure than my Masahiro. The tsuba was a little loose, and my blade if looked at very closely You can see pilles in the steel. With minor flaws aside. The sword is very sharp, balanced nicely in my hand. They say back yard beater. Well i took this outside, and cut a shrub, 1.25" Dia., in two first swipe, not bad for a cheaper version of sword. Thanks. Jim
