Double-edged Damascus steel bladeRay skin handle with cord wrappingsCast metal tsuba and pommelBrass-plated dragon menukiEmbossed leather sheath62-1/2" overall length
This Shinwa Fiery Inferno Samurai Spear is a truly unique. The 12 1/2" blade is forged of Shinwa's unique "Fiery Inferno" Damascus steel which accentuates the black oxidized carbon steel with a secret element that gives it the brilliant fiery orange-red pattern. Each of these blades is hand-forged and will have a completely different pattern than any other blade that comes before it. But this unique blade is not only visually striking, it is also fully functional!
The thick double-edged spear blade is razor-sharp on both edges. A solid wood handle is then carefully wrapped in the traditional Japanese katana wrapping style, which features ray skin emblazoned with a brass-plated menuki medallion.

Shinwa swords are made by hand using traditional methods in the ancient sword-making township of Lonquan. The sword-making history of this town can be traced back to the twentieth year of the Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty – exceptional sword making continues there still today. The swordsmiths of Lonquan can apprentice for up to six years before they begin to forge these functional works of art on their own.
Each Shinwa sword is hand forged at temperatures of up to 1,100 °F and continuously heated, folded, hammered and shaped before being oil quenched and then straightened. Damascus steel blades are folded as many as ten times to yield up to 2,056 layers of premium Damascus steel. After quenching the blade is then ground and hand sharpened and polished by the swordsmith on a series of wet stones. Each set of these wet stones contains a finer level of silicate particles, which produces an even sharper edge. In the final stages of this painstaking process, the tsuka is wrapped and tsuba and other fittings are added before a thin coat of oil is added to the blade to prevent corrosion.

Great spear. At first I thought that the spear head was too thin but the steel doesn't bend at all and everything that I've cut through with it I feel no resistance at all like a hot knife through butter
I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. The "solid wood handle" is either hollow or made of plastic (at least that's what it feels like). The ray skin is faux. The sheathe (feels a bit rubbery to be leather) is nice and thick. The actual blade is noticeably crooked and you can clearly see where it has been glued on. In the description is says "brilliant fiery orange-red pattern" when its actually golden. I was curious to see how sharp the blade was and struck it into a piece of wood, and when I pulled it out the tip was bent.Extremely disappointed with both Shinwa and Trueswords
I am very pleased with this purchase. Overall length is 62.5 inches (63 inches with sheath). (5 foot 3 inches) It wasn't the "Fiery Inferno" that I received with the sword counterpart to this spear. Where the red is with the sword, it is gold with the spear. To me I would have preferred the red cause i enjoyed how it looked with the sword, however i will say the gold isn't bad at all; it looks nice but i wish it was the red. Came with a tiny scratch on the shaft of the spear, isn't real noticeable. For the $90, this was definitely a good buy for me; and i highly suggest it.
would like to know the overall size
Response: 62.5" overall
