Stunning reproduction of the historical Shin Gunto, translated as ""new military sword"", which was carried by Imperial Japanese Army Officers during World War II. This katana design succeeded an earlier Japanese military sword style that was more reminiscent of saber swords.

Our modern reproduction features intricate details from top to bottom. The metal tsuba (guard) is accented by matching metal fittings on the handle, pommel, and lining the scabbard. The tsuba design is unique to the Shin Gunto.

The hardwood scabbard is fitted with a carry handle made of interlaced wrapping, different than that of the sword handle. A section of the scabbard is also wrapped to match the sword's handle, which has a traditional samurai wrapping with diamond pattern.

Carbon steel blade.
Hardwood handle with brown wrapping.
Hardwood scabbard with dark earth painted finish.
All metal fittings.

Measurements: 26 in. blade, 39 1/2 in. overall.

its a good sword. but the sheath has two leather pieces that break easy but the sheath still holds does not come very sharp. there is sticky stuff on the blade though it comes off easy. the blade looks strong .And I haven't broke it yet. it has a great design . the handle has a good grip also. overall it is a nice sword I recommend it to any one who wants a nice sword!

Well worth it

This is a very beautiful display piece, especially for the price. The sword is a little light, but that's to be expected. The blade rattles around a little, but this is obviously not a battle-ready. The blade is sharp-ish, but seems a little time with a whetstone will put it right. The wrapping on mine is spot on, and the tsuba and fuchi are excellently made. it definitely turns heads. The only really complaint I have is with the blade etching, but that's with any chinese-made sword. If you're looking for a beautiful display piece, you won't be disappointed.
