How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

It's a pretty good knife I like the pearl on it but matey they could make it in a smaller version because nobody's going to walking through Walmart with that

ITS BIG AND WONT FIT IN YOUR POCKET ALONE. But this is the second time I'm writing this review because I guess true swords didn't like what I said last time. Any way the mother of pearl cool, and the blades long. But after not even doing anything with it besides testing it on cardboard its loose and not straight. Also the metal from maybe hitting something as it opened has been " chipped or dented a little. So make sure you have a micro screwdriver.

It's a good knife but open its huge so take that into account. My problem is after like 2 months of just opening and closing it its already getting loose ( the blade goes side to side instead of fixed in place.) and I don't know particularly how to tighten it and don't have a screwdriver small enough to tighten each of the different sized screws.

Great self defense weapon

Now THIS is a great inexpensive tactical blade! It's big, that blade will go deep into most anything and do serious damage. It's sturdy. It opens as easily and quickly as a switchblade, while avoiding the legal issues. It's comfortable in the pocket, and in the hand. I got two, and both have precision build/motion and are needle-sharp at the tip. And they are even adequately sharp for some utility work. Not throwable, but you can't have everything eh?? Anyway, for the purpose for which it was built it is a great item and a great bargain. Highly recommended.

Elegant looks. simple and functional design. It's actually not difficult to open or close this, but the size may be a disadvantage when it comes to concealment. People with their head on straight won't need to carry this around or want to mess with someone who has one.

This knife was awsome when it came out of the box but it was very dull. I sharppened ti and it seameed sharp on boxes but i tried to cut some paracord and the blade just slipped off the rope. i sharppened it again with even finer sharpining kits and the knife is still dull. i also saw that the knifes handle was lose and that the locking mechanisim is faulty and can be easily bypassed if you push on the blade ( or if it got stuck in something ).

Not impressive quality

My girlfriend just got this for me for Valentine's Day and it already looks months old. The blade lock to keep it open looks lazily filed down to make it catch, the black finish on one side of the blade is worn off in places, the post behind the blade to prevent hyper-extension when opening is already popping out, the pocket clip is bent... It's a beautiful knife with a terrifying blade and I love it for that, but the quality is a little lacking in mine. Possibly only mine specifically, still looks salvageable.

Best Self assisted!

My friend had this knife for about 4 years and he still has not broken it! Its easy to open and easy to close. Good for ages 15+ Most likely someone younger than that would show it off at school or something and get in trouble. but, yes its a great knife for show, cutting boxes open, or even every day use.
