How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

For the price, it is amazing! It locks nice and tight and looks much better in person than the photo suggests.

As far as the blade goes, it is what you would expect at this price point. You aren't going to be splitting hairs that are dropped on it, but it will be there when you need a knife and the strap cutter and window breaker are a great bonus! My wife actually took this one from me and she carries it with her in her purse.

Easily one of the best blades I've ever gotten. super sleek, sharp, quick to open, light weight. I definitely recommend this knife to everyone.

Extremly pleased with this product. Very sturdy and looks amazing. My only problems was the blade wasn't too sharp when I got it, but that can be fixed easily, and that the clip can be a little bit of a pain. Other than that this is a great buy and makes me look forword to my next purchase at Trueswords!

This is a very nice blade, the only problem I have is that in Michigan. the legal length for this type of blade in public is 3" but this blade in 3-1/4".
