It had a very dull point aside from that good knife for the price and I use it on a daily basis.
Awesome blade this is now my standard pocket knife I don't have a single complaint with this one, it came sharp, no wobble, and it's lightweight it's amazing, but it might require a certain taste a few of my friends don't seem to like it.
Emerson wave on the blade is pointless pocketclip is poorly placed, and immoveable
Cuts great. No complaints
WELL MADE, QUICK OPENING, FOR THE PRICE A VERY GOOD KNIFE.
While this does seem to be a nice knife (for the price) I wish BUDK would list the size of the finger hole. It's important that your finger fits all the way through the hole. Mine doesn't and therefore I can not use it correctly as a Karambit.
the spring broke during the first week I got it
VERY poor design for a knife. I took it out of the box and right away it would not spring open like it should, it would not lock into place either. I tried to open it with a little more force to get it to lock and that did not work either. I then tried to be a little more precise on hitting the assist tab and the milled section on the back side of the handle cut my finger open. Very poorly designed and did not work.
I love this knife. Scared me when I first took it out of the box as it wouldn't open cleanly; just played with it for about five minutes and it smoothed up now it locks open every time. The size is perfect for and EDC kerambit! It is smaller than my Smith and Wesson kerambits by quite a bit. Unlike the S&W models, I use the finger hole and feels great in my hand. If I expect to use a knife I will bring a bigger one, but for a just in case knife this is the one you will find in my pocket.
I've gotten quite a few knives, mostly show...but this karambit is an everyday knife, lightweight, quick assit and sharp out of the box. I never leave home without it....highly recommend this for everyday use or whatever might come up. You should have on right now!!
I was asked to write a review of another karambit, which I like quite a bit, and realized that I had to give some time to what is my second favorite knife from BudK. This knife is great: comfortable to carry, easy to deploy, dresses to a great edge, fully functional in an everyday sort of way. This is a pocket knife. Not a show knife, not a replica, not something so fancy that you keep it on display or in a vault. You use this knife because it works. I carry a Leatherman at all times because of the work that I do but when I just need to slice something in a hurry this is right next to it and whips out in a hurry. I love this knife! If something devastating ever happened to it I will buy a replacement.
This is a super value. I recently watched a video with the FOX 599 karambit which sells for around $200. It has the same "Emerson" spur for pocket deployment. The spur catches the edge of your pocket as you pull it out deploying the blade. As others have mentioned, the pocket clip on this knife is in the wrong spot to make this feature worthwhile. I plan to take mine to my local gunsmith and ask him to move the clip to the right spot. If it works out I will be buying more of these. Next best thing to a firearm for self defense, in some situations maybe better. Thanks Clint!!!
Overall, I'm pleased with it, although mine doesn't have assisted opening. It opens half way and then I have to pull it open the rest of the way till it locks. I can live with that.
Amazing. This is my favorite knife that I own right now, and for many good reasons. The build quality is very good, it's a good size, the assisted opening is quick, and the blade is completely brutal (comes sharp, too). My only single and very minor complaint is that the knife opens a little too easily, so I wouldn't recommend it as an EDC as it may open accidentally in your pocket. Despite that, this knife is fantastic. Looking for a folding karambit? You've found the right one.
love this karambit got it not too long ago very awesome blade i tested it out i went and sure enough got a bag of bird seed and did exactly what they did in the demo to the knife its awesome i would defiantly recommend this to a friend i carry it with me everywhere i go you never know when you might need it...i would defiantly pick this knife if your in a messy situation :)
I got this knife of of eBay last week due to the fact that BudK will not ship to New York. but the knife itself is get, the assisted open is fast and smooth. The only issue i can have is that when the blade is open and locked it makes a clicking sound. besides that the knife is very sharp and easy to use. i highly recommend this knife.
Great knife. Wonderful quality. The only thing is that the finger hole is kind of small, it will not fit most of my index finger.
This was my first introduction to a karambit, and it has exceeded my expectations. This baby slices like a razor blade when you sharpen it up, and shoots open faster than an Italian stiletto. It has been at my side now for the past year and a half. I love everything about this knife, and even urged my aging parents to get a karambit for their household utility drawer. I don't know why I wasn't using this on stubborn plastic packaging years ago. I no longer mess with box cutters at work, I use this, and coworkers are mystified by the genius of the simple/effective blade. I can technically carry it legally in Chicago (which has some pretty strict ordinances on knives) and can easily employ it as a self defense tool by hooking my pinky in the hole, while gripping the handle; now an attacker cant kick it out of my hand. If someone on the street demands your wallet, demand theirs, with this!
The first thing I noticed is on the box the knife is spelled kerambit and not karambit. Second the finger hole is too small for most men's index finger. third whats the point of having the pocket opening hook on the blade if you put the clip on the opposite side of the knife rendering the feature on the knife in my opinion. Infact its the same feature that the only 2 other knives that i've seen with it are sold at over 100 dollars. Alterations need to be done this could be one of the best knives under 100 dollars if it were done right. What a shame. I also I recommend that the blade be curved more the original karambits made in Indonesia were made to resemble a tiger claw more of a hook in the blade to a sharp point facing forward. Also a good idea is for the clip to be move able to either side of the knife for left or right handed people and should be on the side of the hole going down toward the blade please fix.
I have bought and made mammoth ivory insert for the handles for 15 of these knives in the last 2 months. They retail for $125 with the ivory with scrimshaw. The knife is a little awkward to remove from a dress pant pocket but easy from most jeans. I think it is a great knife and so do my customers. I will buy more ...HutcH
