Reading the description and the glowing reviews I was excited to receive a couple of these for throwing. As noted they ARE very heavy, sharp and pointy. However these are most definitely NOT 'Forged', they are cast. After my first couple of throws the the tips literally snapped off, revealing the cast metal beneath. Disappointing. I will be petitioning for a return. By the way, the cord around the handle soon unravels after being knicked by another thrower. Ironically, these have such a good heft and long blade edge they would make good fighting knives (although the handles are about 4 - 5 inches, making them kinda small for large adult hands).
The minute I felt the weight I knew it would be a good knife for me. I would definetly recommend this to anyone who wants a thrower that's slightly heavier than a knife but isn't an axe. The only problem I had was fitting it with the sheath but after I kept it in for a while it began to fit perfectly
This is an absolutely fantastic throwing knife. It is thick, strong, the finish appears to be the effect of rough casting, which means that it will NOT come off, as it's actually part of the metal's surface. The grip is very well done and will not unravel any time soon. The balance point is right at the widest part of the blade, representing the hilt. The sheath is very tight, because it's new leather when it comes, but fear not! It breaks in very quickly. It is my new favorite throwing knife. I might add serration to one edge and use it for my primary belt/hunting knife.
im a hardcore knife thrower, and i gotta say, these babies are impressive!! they have good weight and hit with a powerful force. they also look good as display pieces to show off to your friends. im also starting a Mortal Kombat weapon collection and this is perfect for Scorpion's spear! i would recommend these bad boys!
My kids and I are avid throwers, we own just about every set of throwers Gil Hibben makes. I also bought this knife more as a costume piece, but wanted to see how it throws, too. I was honestly shocked at how consistent it is. I throw with spin, spin-less and underhand techniques and this thing is amazing in all three! Only con is that it's double edged. So be careful if throwing from the blade. Luckily it's not super sharp, but enough so that one should take when handling from the blade.
Throws well , sturdy knife
Really heavy, it actually has a problem sticking to wooden targets. If you were to use as a combat thrower, I'm pretty sure it would go right through a motherhubbard
I bought this on bogo so the two of them look great on a table in my hallway with my Spartan sword and Spartan helmet on a stand. I use them as decoration and they add a nice look to my display with the two other pieces. I’m not sure if you could actually use them for throwing; I never tried but they look awesome with my other hallway decorations and are worth the money.
strong, heavy, sharp....three things that explain this weapon. its worth the buy, but the sheath is horrible. it doesnt even fit the blade. you have to force the blade into the sheath, then force it back out. the buckle on the sheath also scratches the blade. the knife itself is very well made and very good for the price. but the sheath brings down the rating.
I think that this knife is amazing it was a lot more hevyer and bigger than I thought the thing that realy amazed me Was that it was double sided and the alien design was amazing it takes a while to learn how to throw but it is realy powerful and at a great price
