The Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry Soldier’s Buckler Shield is a replica of the small shield used in hand-to-hand combat during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Its size made it poor protection against missile weapons like arrows and spears but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent’s weapons, binding his arms or hindering his movements. Designed, specifically, to be actually used, it’s made from 1065 high carbon steel with a darkened, battle-hardened finish and tempering to a low 50s RC. This reproduction fist shield has gone through rigorous testing and the hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes it completely unique. Included is a certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your shield through every step of the forging process.
