I've had my M48 about two years and as far as chopping works great. thrown once in a while. Looks greaton video but this isn't really a throwing Hawk. If you want to throw it pick soft trees such as pine. Throw it at Hickory or an old Oak the out come is a broken handle. If you're into throwing there are Hawks made especially for that purpose with wooden handles so they can be easily replaced. Use the M48 properly it'll hold up and do the job. Such as putting holes in a 55 gallon steel barrel to make a burn barrel. When I feel like throwing a Hawk I have one made for that purpose. If the handle breaks I can just pick up another handle at the Hardware store. Every tool has it's purpose and the M48's isn't for throwing. But makes a great camp axe.

Love it, grand tomahawk. You might want to upgrade the sheath eventually for carry purposes. No complaints though, you should buy two. Check it out yourself!!

when I learned that some of our Special Forces units carry these in Afghanistan I had to have one. Edged weapons are highly respected there. This weapon is serious and can do a lot of damage. I do not recommend repeated throws and I do suggest that you wrap cloth hockey stick tape around the handle. A great value for the money and collector!
If somethins pokin your thigh, its this guy!! The sheath is my only problem with it, besides the fact this is also made in china. ive had two of these for several months, theyve handled the abuse that gard work brings, even with a compsite handle. Like I said though, it pokes you from the bottom side of the sheath, its weight makes the bottom point of the beard expose itself, making running a bad idea if this is on your hip, you may also want to tighten the snaps on the sheath, or it can come free, while walking. Serious hazard considering these things are very sharp out of the package. Love it! Also throwing this tomahawk is both easy and fun, great balance.

This a very attractive and well designed tomahawk. It is not designed to be a fire axe, nor is it intended to be used to cut firewood. It is a weapon plain and simple. The blade is ample and sharp. The spike is as impressive as it is sharp. I'm not sure that it is as durable as an SOG tomahawk, but I like the design. The SOG Voodo Hawk is still my favorite. The M48 tactical tomahawk is beautiful. It gives the SOG tomahawks some real competition in the beauty category.

Sharp as a razor. Light but heavy duty. This is a high quality, solidly built defensive weapon. the M48 Tactical Tomahawk is even more than I expected. It would be a great value at twice the price. May not be made to chop petrified wood. However, I don't plan to use it for that. This tool is a pure combat weapon.

This tomahawk is the best I've seen. It's durability is unmatched, and throws like a champ. I've already used it for a variety of tasks and not a mark on it, and on top of that, it is capable of being almost razor sharp. The only problem is the edge doesn't hold a razor edge for very long, but otherwise this thing is awesome. Get yourself one of these tomahawks!

I've had this tomahawk for about two years now. I have thrown it into trees, hacked massive amounts of wood with it on numerous camping trips and it's still sharp as h**l. The weight is perfect, it's balanced perfect, and well worth the $40. Highly recommend. Probably the best $40 I've ever spent on any tool/weapon.

got it for Christmas last year and I couldn't wait to open it, it is very well built and very sharp. I've had it for almost a year and have had no complaints. This tomahawk is probably the best and most durable knife I have in my collection of knives

this tomahawk is the prize of my collection of throwing weapons, i use it for yard work and to just mess around with and not a scratch on it after a month. the m48 products are all great quality and i suggest to buy as many as you can. it needs no sharpening and not a single complaint.

Unique. I ordered hawk from a different site. No difference n price. This thing is legit, very sturdy, the only drawback 4 me was wanting the handle 2 b a lil thicker & a lil longer. Reason being my dominant ARM was injured sum years ago. But very dependable.

I've gotta admit this axe is durable I've hit some things thinking I damaged the blade and to my suprise not a scratch but the bolts could be better quality besides that its a solid tool and I love it ! 5 stars !

This is not a toy, it's a fully functional & almost indestructible tool. Whether you need it for breaching of CQQ in a war zone or a wilderness survival tool. This tomahawk fills every need. If you want to support troops forget the bumper sticker and send a soldier or civilian contractor one of these. It saved my life on 4 continents.

This axe is really nice. I chopped down the box it came in. I also threw it a couple of times and it stuck on the wooden plank really well. Overall a really good buy, and it was on sale at the time I bought it so thanks Trueswords!

This is a phenomenal purchase! I am blown away with the quality of this axe (tomahawk), especially compared to the price. I showed it to my friends the other day, and had them guess based on the feel, and look of the axe, how much they thought it had cost. Both of them agreed on about $100. They freaked when I said $35, and have now checked out Trueswords of their own accord. Everything about this axe screams perfect weapon.
The only knit-picky critique I have is that the handle needs a bit more grip. I solved this fast by twisting, and snake-wrapping some black athletic tape around it, and then wrapping another flat layer of athletic tape over that. Google some lacrosse websites if you don't know what I'm talking about. Lacrosse players use this technique all the time. I also recommend looping some para-chord through the hole at the bottom. That way, if you loop your hand through when wielding the axe, it will greatly minimize the risk of it flying out of your hand. But seriously, perfect perfect weapon.

This as all other United Cutlery products I have purchased is an excellent item. Very well made and balanced overall. The first time I threw it it stuck right in. When I had the range dialed in every time it went right in. This is a must have if I'm out in the wild.

I've used this tomahawk from chopping firewood, to target throwing. It stood up well against the abuse, and only need a little work to resharpen the edge to razor perfection. My only real complaint about this tomahawk is not even about the tomahawk, its about the sheath. The sheath it comes with works well as a house and guard for the blade. However, it offers you little in the way of quick draw access because it gets caught on all the buttons, and in my overall opinion, does not hold it securely. If you can DIY with kydex, this would be an awesome item to carry. I have a few tomahawks, almost all of cold steels line of tomahawks in fact, and this tomahawk ranks right in line with them. The tomahawk as it is is perfect, and offers a little more in splitting ability over cold steel due to its wedged head design.

This tomahawk came in the mail yesterday, and it exceeded my expectations. It was heavier than I expected, but that's good, because you can simply tell how solid the handle is. The axe head is razor sharp, it feels great, and it looks great. My only complaint is that the spike is not as sharp as it could be. It can go through wood okay, but a little sharpening will make it fully puncture anything this thing goes through. I haven't tried throwing it, yet.

Well im no expert on tomahawks, but for 35$ you wouldn't expect much right? well this is a 35$ MONSTER!

a lot of people seem to think that it isnt sharp, but trust me its plenty sharp, you dont want a razor edge on something that is going to be doing high impact chopping. it comes out of the box perfect. its got a nice polymer handle and its balanced well. good for throwing when you practice with it, not to mention an excellent survival, self defense or breaching tool.

it says stainless steel china,
this is probably the 1st GRATE quality thing from china i have ever bought.

i dont think i could break it if i tried.

their are people on youtube wailing on metal with this thing.

I would give a warning though. WARE THICK GLOVES!! if you intend to let the handle slide through in your hand to hold it closer to the head.. in a word the 2 points at the top and bottom of the cutting head are RETARDEDLY sharp, and will EASILY mess up your hand if your not careful. i would just avoid letting it slide altogether.

Bottom line. im happy, i would recommend this item. and im probably going to be back in 7 months for another one for a birthday present.

the shipping was also fast and arrived under expected time.

Thanks trueswords

I received the tomahawk two days after it had been ordered. I got it quick, and am very satisfied with the purchase. It didn't come as sharp as I expected, but it doesn't need to be any sharper due to it's sheer power. I'll definitely be buying from True Swords again.

Great tomahawk! I love it doesn't always stick in a tree but takes massive chunks with every swing. Very light and maneuverable. Only drawback is I should've bought 2. Great grip, OK snap on sheath, and a sleek look so go get it.

You will be amazed with the beauty of this item for it is totally balance and precise to its intentions. This is fully functional item, give it all the punishment you want but can surely stand to anything...throw it, hack it, or use it for chopping big logs or trees, you can surely depend on it. MY OVERALL RATING FOR THIS IS A TOTAL FIVE....GOOD WORK AND DESIGN UNITED CUTLERY....

A very effective and dangerous tool. The m48 is something I would take with me in any type of survival situation. This tomahawk should NOT be over looked. If you want the most bang for your buck, you should get this tomahawk. Right out of the box this thing is extremly sharp. I nearly sliced my hand open earlier and all it did was slip out of the sheath. Imagine what it could do if you swing it!!

I bought this thing a couple months ago, and haven't thrown it yet, as I live in an apartment complex. It looks to be very strong though, however having read some of the lesser reviews I do have my concerns. It does not seem that sharp when you take it out. But if you think about it, you dont want an axe blade to be finely sharp, because, if you use it to chop anything, the blade could chip. This blade has sufficient thickness to prevent that, and I made the same mistake of thinking it was not sharp at all, ran my finger on it, and got a very fine paper cut in less then an inch. I give it four stars till I can actually throw it.

This was an ok tomahawk, perfect weight, great design, and sharp out of the box. At first, I loved it, I practiced with it every day and got really good at throwing it. After about 7 months, I threw it at a tree and it broke at the handle. As I said, I loved the tomahawk, so I bought a new one. No more than a week later, it broke in the exact same spot. All in all, good tomahawk, but not very durable.

I've had my tomahawk for a long time. I've only recently started using it however. After about an hour total of practice, the handle snapped just under the third bolt. The axe is awesome, but it was a 40$ bust in the end. The inner metal appeared to have a knot where it snapped. I'm pretty disappointed I must say.

OK, when I first saw this thing in the catalog I was determined to get it, a couple of weeks later I found myself ripping open it's box. What you see is (almost) what you get. The spike is NOT sharp, it's as if someone hacksawed the first couple of millimeters off. I threw it at a tree and it ricocheted horizontally and hit me square on the leg with the spike. I fully expected blood to stream out like a water faucet. THE SPIKE IS SO DULL THAT IT BRUISED MY LEG MORE THAN IT CUT! The blade is not very sharp but it'll do for an axe. In the catalog it says "great for throwing" however it rarely sticks with the blade towards the target. When thrown with the spike towards the target it sticks better. If you are going to chop with this, wear gloves or you'll get a blister within a few minutes. I used it to chop down a small, soft wood tree. My machete did a better job. If I could go back to before I ordered it I would order a SOG fasthawk instead. You can get two fasthawks for almost the same price. Just my two cents, but if you want this hawk get it. But there are better hawks out there.

I am giving this one star because it looks and feels cool. I got it this past Christmas. I threw it three times at a rotten wood block (It isn't like I was throwing it at something hard!) and it broke right at the connection between the head and the handle. Two years earlier I got a cheap tomahawk for half the price and it has outlasted the M48 by 3 YEARS!!! I am VERY displeased with it! save your money for a fast hawk.

Well I looked into this axe forever to be let down after 50throws and im not a huge guy average size, I threw it at a stump and it just snapped! I was so disappointed told all my friends hey this thing is awesome its indestructible and it just embarrassed me. so with that if you get an actual good one be carful because if you toss it too hard it might break sorry to burst your bubble but I don't want the same thing happen to another so purchase with caution.
