This Shinwa Fiery Inferno Katana is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind sword. The 28 3/4" blade is forged of Shinwa's unique "Fiery Inferno" Damascus steel which accentuates the black oxidized carbon steel with a secret element that gives it the brilliant fiery orange-red pattern. Each of these blades is hand-forged and will have a completely different pattern than any other sword that comes before it. But this unique blade is not only visually striking, it is also full-tang and fully functional!

The handle is wrapped in genuine ray skin and dyed cotton cord using the traditional Japanese sword handle wrapping method. Flames erupt from the handle to create a distinct tsuba that alludes to the fiery inferno Damascus steel of the blade. This sword also includes a piano black, high gloss lacquered wooden scabbard with a matching cord wrap. Overall Length: 40 1/4"

hand forging samurai sword blades process

About Shinwa:

Shinwa swords are made by hand using traditional methods in the ancient sword-making township of Lonquan. The sword-making history of this town can be traced back to the twentieth year of the Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty – exceptional sword making continues there still today. The swordsmiths of Lonquan can apprentice for up to six years before they begin to forge these functional works of art on their own.

Each Shinwa sword is hand forged at temperatures of up to 1,100 °F and continuously heated, folded, hammered and shaped before being oil quenched and then straightened. Damascus steel blades are folded as many as ten times to yield up to 2,056 layers of premium Damascus steel. After quenching the blade is then ground and hand sharpened and polished by the swordsmith on a series of wet stones. Each set of these wet stones contains a finer level of silicate particles, which produces an even sharper edge. In the final stages of this painstaking process, the tsuka is wrapped and tsuba and other fittings are added before a thin coat of oil is added to the blade to prevent corrosion.

If this Id a truly hand crafted katana and wet stone sharpened if done properly as the 1 star rater mentioned it should cut bushes in fact if it's folded cooled and sharpened well enough it should cut an average bamboo mat with clear clean cuts unless the metal is weak or the forging improper which is truly disappointing I own many hand crafted true katana and I would have added this to my collections if any one should reply and submit a message of this sword being more reliable I'd like to know why you believe it is as such I practice kenjutsu and batto is this sword fast to draw well balanced strong and edged as a katana should be or is it as Benjamin had mentioned. Great sword Reviewed by on Sep 03, 2015   5 out of 5

This is my first time buying from TrueSwords and I'll most likely buy again the sword is amazing, sturdy and well built, really beautiful. The only possible complaints I would have is that it's pretty dull on the edges and I bought a cleaning kit with it but the clove oil either leaked or was sent half empty. Also, as far as the 1* review, it's not fair to judge a sword on your own stupidity, it's a weapon not a pair of shears, don't swing it at bushes.

My order took only 3 days to reach me. Very good customer service personnel. The swords I ordered are every bit of what I hoped for and more. I will definitely buy here again.

not sure the reason for bad reviews :/ ive used trueswords before, but this is the first sword ive actually bought from them, and it will not be the last. its a really beautiful sword. it was oily at first, but easy to clean. didnt shipthat sharp, but that is easily fixed as well. not sure how durable it is, as i usse it for decoration, but from what i can tell, its a sturdy sword. if you want a nice, good-looking sword, this is the one to get.

This was my second sword from True Swords and it will probably be my last. I bought this sword expecting that the steel would be able to withstand a few light hits against small bushes at the very least. It was severely scratch after only a few light hits, and the black coating was really damaged. I was incredibly excited after this arrived, and twenty minutes later I was discouraged, sad, and my love for true swords was damaged. Do not buy this sword unless it is for decoration, because, for my blade, at least, YOU WILL REGRET IT. I want my $115 dollars back (I bought it on closeout). There were also small metal pieces on the handle that cut my hands. It is also dowsed in probably enough oil to make a plate of tacos, much more than is necessary.

I love the blade!!! The orange looks great my first five minutes looking at it i cut myself about a centimeter into my finger while clean off the oil. It is the sharpest sword ever!!! The only complants are that the sword is extremly unbalanced, the handle is very poorly made, and i had the 3 day shipping and it took 4 days. But all in all a good sword, i think that it is worth the $100 dollar price

Great sword. Looks Beautiful a bit disappointed that it did not come sharp like I expected (only reason I gave it three stars). But other than that I would highly recommend this sword.
