Product Description
The Bushido Genko Samurai Katana offers a hand-forged, 1045 carbon steel blade that rivals the sharpness of most $500 katana swords. But, this katana was constructed with more economical handle materials to allow for it to be an extremely effective martial arts sword, with a rock-bottom price tag. What this sword lacks in fancy decor, it makes up for in pure slashing and slicing power. Buy yours today and we promise you won't be disappointed!

Really nice sword. Minor gripe- habiki slightly loose... tap tap- fixed. Rock solid otherwise; good balance; great blade, sharp enough to do major damage. Fully expect to get 1060+ performance. And,yes, a wooden saya! Had me fooled there a second. Cheers BUDK- just gotta add some more wakizashi selections, keep me looking- PFD in AZ

It was as advertised, sharp straight blade out of the box and it was all very tightly fitted! Very happy with my first katana.

May 26, 2019

Great katana brushed steel finish like the samurai would have carried during Kamakura period when warriors used their swords! Not decorative like the Edo period. Double pinned not epoxy agile 27" blade swift to use. Sharp out of the box one pass with a diamond stick made it a razor!

This sword may not be the greatest sword. It may not even be a very impressive sword. But boy do you get a lot out of that $50 spent. This is by far the most impressed I could probably be with a sword under $100, let alone a sword under $60. If you want to see this sword in action, I have made a short review of it here: youtu.be/IfUnewBnYEU

I received this sword last week, it's just like all the other reviews. It actually came out of box, pretty damn sharp. I sharpened it slightly more and its a 3 ft long razor blade now. I haven't took it out and slashed any zombies with it....YET ... but it seems durable enough for the job. I do believe in you get what you pay for, but this Katana is an exception. It is well worth the $40 I paid for it...so yeah, I would recommend it.

Very happy with this sword, it wasn`t too expensive, it is very well constructed, and comes sharpened. Would definitely recommend it!

I love my Musha. It's well made for the low cost. I touched up the edge on mine. It's now a slicing machine. Good, solid, useable katana for a backyard cutter like me. Just buy one, dummy.

I have owned this sword for about 9 months now, and I'm still every bit as impressed as I first got this sword. when I first unboxed the sword, and picked up the sword, it had the best feel and quality of any sword in it's price range (20-50 dollar range is what I'm comparing to). Here is what I like and dislike about the sword: I'm For: The incredible quality for it's price range, I've seen some 80 dollar swords (double this sword's price) that don't perform nearly as well as this. The handle fittings are good quality. I've seen 80 dollar swords which are not nearly as well balanced as this sword (some more expensive swords I've had feel like swinging a sledgehammer!) Decently sharp blade. I'm Against: The fittings, though high quality, are made of copper, and if even a single drop of water gets on the tsuba or other fittings on the sword, the fittings oxidize green, not too big of an issue, but if you plan on testing this sword on a rainy day in Oregon, just be aware of that! the blade, though high-quality for it's price, it still only 1045, again, not too big of an issue, just don't cut anything harder than tatami mats and you're fine, but on durability testing of this sword, I bent the blade ever-so-slightly slicing through my ballistics gel targets with leather armor. Some things you should do if you plan on getting this sword to cut tatami mats and other things: - Make sure to sharpen this sword to as sharp as the blade can get, this is a cutting-oriented steel, not durability-oriented. Meaning, without an extra sharp edge, the blade takes more damage than it should. so grab a good sharpener and use it! - Wear gloves while using the sword, the reason is the handle is made of silk, meaning it will catch every drop of sweat, and eventually get all soggy over the months. This can be fixed by wearing thick gloves, that and you should wear thick gloves anyway cause safety first! - don't cut anything tougher than cardboard boxes or tatami mats, when I tested on thick targets, the blade bent slightly, I was able to fix it, but I recommend you don't cut any hard materials like bamboo or wood. - Make sure the handle wrapping is snug and secure after testing, it tends to get loose, if you don't fix it, it will unwrap itself after a couple swings and eventually you'll have to go through a boring process of re-wrapping the handle.

My expectations were surprisingly exceeded. I wasn't expecting much for around 50 dollars(with shipping and handling). Everything was very uniform and straight, however the blade was slightly curved to the right. But it was very slight, I had to really look for it. The tang seemed to be full, I did locate the bamboo pegs, but I still haven't swung the sword at full strength. I'm sure it would hold up, but I'm not quite ready to try it (also not mentioned in the description was the specific kind of carbon steel, but I can tell you it's 1045)The blade was pretty dull (not "very sharp" as advertised). The pros outweigh the cons though. It was actually a very detailed katana and though you can't see it well in the picture, there is a dragon design on the handle of the sword. The sheath is covered with a matte black coating that I surprisingly like. The shipping was nice and quick, and it came on the shipping day determined. For the money, I definitely give this five out five stars.

Just got it today. Love it! It came with a sleeve so that was cool also very nicely weighted, sharp, everything was held together nothing loose. My one concern was the swords sheath, don't get me wrong beautiful design but the blade doesn't slid in like I thought it would if you shake it the blade won't come out but it wiggles.

Overall beautiful sword, great price, just need to fix the sheath my opinion.

Great sword, especially for the price. I cut a few waterbottles and a gallon sized one too. Lovin this sword so far.

This sword was built by professionals who knew what they were doing. Very good balance, handling and workmanship. Excellent product at this price point.

So I got it after six days of ordering it (because of the Hurricane Sandy), and I am absolutely pleased with it. It's exactly as the description said and very sharp too. Everything came perfect.

The only thing that I noticed (and so did some other users here) was the Oda symbol in the Saya is darker than the picture, but still detailed. Otherwise from that, everything seems well.

It's a great sword for everything looking for real katana and I really recommend it to everything else. I will look forward to buy more from Musha/Musashi.

Amazing by all accounts since this was my first purchase from true swords. I love the sword, and how sharp it is. The design on the hilt of the sword, is pretty nice too. The only problem is that the Flower imprint on the scabbard, is a little faded, but other than that, great blade.
Feb 10, 2012

For the price this is a great buy! Looks great on the wall and came sharper than I expected. No hamon which I prefer over the wire brushed look and fake same ray skin but a great deal none the less. It arrived in perfect condition in 4 days!! True swords is still number 1 in my book!

This sword is great, it was nice and sharp. the only thing was that the habaki was sratched and the blade was a little dirty but it was easy to clean. i will definetly buying Musashi again!
Jun 29, 2010

Great sword for the price.
pros-
1. nice weight
2. sharp but not as sharp as i would have liked but its still good.
3. i love the guard design
4. the sheath is very sleek and i loved the nice box it came in XD

cons-
1. gets fingerprints all over it lol but thats not too bad.
2. i dont like the white skin on the handle it just looks cheap.

overall it is a great sword highly recomended
Jan 16, 2010

Very well made sword. Has very good weight, and is easy to swing. One thing, however, is that the blade(at least on mine) chips very VERY easy. Definatley not much of a training one. All in all however, a very well made sword. Good for first time buyers.
Oct 23, 2009

Not a bad sword, Good quality and sturdy. I dont have many complains, sharp but not razor sharp but if your can sharpen as good as me it wouldnt be a problem :P. I would recomend it to anyone who is a first time buyer (like me) and as usual this isnt going to be the last buy from trueswords.
Oct 23, 2009

Got it via Fed-Ex in approx. 4 days (I ordered on a saturday, so I expected a slight delay).

I've owned a few craptastic blades that were obviously display only, this is the first one I've owned that I actually felt a sense of respect unsheathing. The edge is very sharp. Not RAZOR sharp like some anime or samurai movie would have you believe, but definitely something to respect. It's not "Polished to a mirror sheen", in fact, it's kind of dull, really. But you get a sense of the fact that this is the real deal from the weight alone.

I didn't go swinging at anything with it, but that's more out of respect for the blade and other people around me than the idea of breaking it. It seems sturdy, and I'll give it that.

My only complaint is that the saya is plastic over wood, and that the fitting at the base of the handle is plastic as well. The Tsuba is certainly metal (My guess is brass or copper, though I could be wrong). And really, these complaints aren't justifiable given what the cost of the sword was.

All in all, a good training sword and a good first buy for anyone. All of the necessaries with none of the bells and whistles of the more expensive pieces.

This combined with the service and the coupon Trueswords.com sent will have me buying from them again. An easy 5/5 for a cheap price.

Excellent service, first of all
arrived in 5 days but i live across the country so... its all good

This is my first sword ever, and i'm in love with it. The picture doesn't have anything on the actual thing the sword is the perfect size for me (5' 8")

Scary sharp edge, it glides through water bottles, tomatos, and eggplants like a hot knife through butter.
The saya is the best part of the sword because the scabbard is darker in real life than in the picture. Best choice EVER for a first practice or display sword. When they say battle ready they mean it! Practice at your own risk though, its ment for martial artists only, oh yes i recommend the miracle cleaning cloth also, it does make the blade shine, it works for buffing out scratches on the scabbard also.

5/5 for all of the awesome service
6/5 for the sword hamon,edge
1,000,000/5 for the entire sword itself
ps be careful w/the saya (scabbard) its a delicate little thing, don't throw it around, scratches easily
but you guys won't do that since the pure beauty of the saya
Rock on TrueSwords
thanks for the poster
i will always buy all of my future weapons from you guys

Very beautiful sword, got it today and tried it out, the blade is very sharp and the balance and weight of the sword is great, Picture says it all about this sword. All in all i like this sword and will definatly come here again. Thanks True Swords.

This is the first sword I buy from True Swords and the quality of this sword is amazing for the prize that they have it for. They hit the nail on the head with the details that describe the sword and the pictures are nothing compared to when you hold it in your hand. The shipping was really fast and the sword was safely packaged. If your thinking about buying this sword I'd say go for it cause its always good to have a sword that you don't have to worry about as much as the expensive ones.

I finally received the blade today. I checked the for abnormally noticing the blade contained excessive lubed which was easy to solve via decent whip down. The blade was overall balance but I was disappointed this one wasn't as sharp as my first purchased sword. I wish I purchased a sharper with the order. Overall I like the sword and plan for it to be my practical work sword while my high end blade can be use for special occasions and contest. Overall Satisfied
