Ok, first I'll start with that there is no such thing as a wall-hanger in my book so if it is designed and made with the required combat ready requirements such as full tang and high carbon steel; I'm gonna put it to work. So here's the skinny; the sword is big and slightly complex in that it would take practice to wield effectively. It comes with a false edge but thanks to a shop in town I had a real one added on the outside. The drawback to this weapon lies in the lacquered handle, and the weighted blade makes for a different balance point. So overall if you get it add a edge, and next get some non slip extra grip gloves or leather ones, lastly practice and start with slow small moves. I have tried a few test cuts on both a cardboard and plastic bottles and hot water to make it easier, and it still mostly bats instead of slash. this leads me to believe that I may require a more stable weighted target.
