Great item!!! As a devotee of La Santisima Muerte, I had to have a life-sized statue of Mi Madrina. La Santisima is like the Female version of the Grim Reaper and has a scythe. So I bought a life sized skeleton put Her in a long black hooded cloak and bought HER this scythe .to carry. Mi Madrina stands next to my altar holding this scythe and the whole thing looks amazing!!! This is a great quality scythe!!!

I got this around Halloween as a grim reaper prop. It's a great prop. Having gotten multiple things from Budk in the past, I knew this would be a step above any other costume prop on the market, at a bargain price ($25, free shipping.) Sure enough, when it arrived, I noticed first how sharp & mean the blade was. The handle looked like a closet rod someone cut in half so you could screw it back together, but Im not worried about functionality. Besides, the blade itself is good. I realize this is not a full tang pole arm weapon, like BudK's quan do, or naginata. You will not be able to slice a pumpkin in half with one swing like a bada**. The pole will break on you. However keep this thing away from children cause they will still slice themselves up if they handle the blade itself at all. There is no sheath, just this teeny triangle that fits over the terrifying tip. I give it 5 stars because it's exactly what I wanted at a price I couldn't find elsewhere.

I just get my scythe today and everything come all part's were there can't wight to my next buy thank's again truesword
May 29, 2014

Not many bad things to say about this massive Scythe. Once attached, the blade is slightly loose, but sturdy. The blade itself, albeit sharp at the point, I found to be dull on the edge. And had this weird gunk on the attachment piece.
Outside of these things, this was a great buy. I think the pole-arm is nice and strong, befitting of a blade that heavy, and has a nice weight to it.

I got it for my girl friend I must say I love it it's very strong n bigger than I expected it is well worth more than the cost.

It is simple. Buy this scythe. I haven't seen such an amazing weapon like this one in person for a while. It is tall, sturdy, and usable. At first I thought that the staff would be too thin and it might bend if not break, but it is thick (not too thick) and one might be able to use it as a pull up bar. The staff might only need to be sanded a little bit, but the texture is meant for a better grip, so just wear gloves. It is always a good idea to wear gloves when handling something like this masterpiece. The blade is two feet of strong and sharp metal. I would certainly trust my life if I had to with this weapon. Some might say that it is not meant for actual use of any kind, but I certainly disagree. I was first worried that for such a LOW price, that I would get a low quality weapon. But I stand corrected. It is strong and durable. Easy to put together, and takes no time at all. If you like scythes, want to add it to a collection, or simply like the look of it, and you have the money, buy it. You will be glad you did. However, the only thing that I have to complain about, is that the page says it is called a sickle. But it isn't, it is a scythe.

I have been obsessed with the reaper for as long as I can remember but have never been able to find a decent replica of the scythe, sure I have a bunch of field and hand scythes but they just don't have the same impact, This work of art is massive, razor sharp, and beautiful. It was kind of hard to line the blade up with the snath but once I got it, it was time well spent. My favorite part about it though, was the look on my neighbors face when I walked it up the stairs. it is worth every penny, a must have.
Jan 11, 2013

Very good scythe, although it did crack at the center when I was swinging it around, but I been slicing boxes and the blade hasn't bent and doesn't seem like it will anytime soon. In thee event that it should break I wouldn't hesitate to buy another
Oct 18, 2012

This scythe was perfect. Very tall and long blade, everything I wanted. The shipping was faster then I could have hoped.

I about bought this on another site, before I found TrueSwords. They wanted $60 for it. So that was awesome saving $30. It is definitely a display piece though. It looks pretty kickass in my room. 5 stars
Aug 01, 2010

This is actually my first item purchased from this site, yet it's my last item to review.

Five stars all the way.

80 inches. It's as tall as I am. Literally. It's not in my bedroom, rather it's in my "war room" and was good for scaring a friend or two half to death. They think I'll kill myself with it one day. I dunno...anyway, if you're looking for a just-plain-scarily-humongous weapon to add to your collection, this is the weapon for you.

I bought this item several months back and needless to say, I love it. It added some nice shock value to my room and even though it was kept behind my door and I never took it out, everyone managed to find it and freak out at it's sight.
Apr 16, 2010

This is one HELL of a sexy display piece in my room. Not only that but it adds a certain humorous shock factor when people see my room, typically yelling out some sort of profanity and going wide eyed in surprise.
Its got a nice feel to it, however the wood feels a bit brittle, not something you would want in a weapon, but I see it as more of a display/cosplay piece and for that, it is amazing.

I got mine a while back, and am using it as part of my halloween costume. I'm going as the grim reaper, and I must say, Samael himself would probably be proud of it. Razor sharp, holds together well, and is close to seven feet tall.
Sep 04, 2009

ne of my freinds that have seen it love it and i love trying to figure out how to fight with it which while doing that i noticed the wood is soft and can be dented or broken easily so be careful but i love this blade especially for mowing the lawn :D

Jun 20, 2008

A very intimidating display peice. The tip of the blade is SHARP AS A NEEDLE!!! So take extreme care when handling this object. Other then that, no actual edge on the blade; which is fine because it is only a wall-hanger.

If you seek a weapon that looks like it was taken from the Grim Reaper himself, look no further.

P.S. For the screws, I recommend power tools (all you minors ask an adult for assistance).
Mar 16, 2008

My "GOD" I cannot believe I got this f****** Weapon! I mean I have been waiting YEARS to finnaly get my hands on a freaken Scythe!1 YA BABY! ITS A DREAM COME TRUE, BELIEVE IT!

Even though the Screws for pinning the blade in are kinda hard the assembly is quite easy. The one and only problem is that the blade jiggles up and down just slightly so the blade isnt completly stable. However it is Extreamly sharp and very long and I wuv it sooo!
Jan 16, 2008

I just got this and it's amazing! It's huge, I'm 6 foot 2 and it makes me look like a midget lol! The only problem I had was getting the screws into the scythe, but after about twenty minutes of hammering it in, it was good to go. I swung it around a couple of times lol, it isn't all that heavy to tell the truth. Anyways, if you like scythes or awesome weapons in general BUY THIS...NOW! Good Job as always TrueSwords.
Jan 15, 2008

this thing is sick
not very sharp but i anticipated it so i bought a sharpener as well
this thing has potential to be VERY sharp

lol i know i sliced off part of my knuckle

it was pretty sick
Jan 14, 2008

The real deal.
It is 7 feet tall.
Long curved blade (23 1/2 inch, duh).

Connected at the center point by an inch long half inch think metal screw, with a metal female grooved hole. Solid wood. The blade has to be inserted in to a slot at the top and supported by two screws. (One of which the screw was bent and had a defect on the point.) I tested it durability. The blade wobbled, though the screws were as tight as possible. So now it is serving as the coolest wall decor ever in the eyes of any blade collector. Great buy.
On another note, the speed of trueswords and fedex is awesome. Ups has nothing as far as speed.
Jan 03, 2008

This thing is awesome, it's huge!
I'm 6 fet and it's still about a foot or two taller.

So that's around 7-8 feet.

It comes in three pieces. You connect the two pieces of wood by screwing them on then the blade itself is kind of hard to put in but banging it and forcing it in works. Besides getting the blade in, there are no cons.

Awesome.

I would buy again from this site.

I bought this scythe as part of a Halloween costume and it is a great piece. Assembly did get a little hard when I was trying to attack the blade to the handle since it looked like one of the holes didn't match with the scythe blade. Despite this, the quality was great and the weapon, fully assembled, looks like a traditional reader's scythe.

I ordered one for my boss (for Xmas) who's a technical diver and who's dive-team features the Grim Reaper on their team shirts. I read the reviews on this item and all seemed pretty positive. Hope he likes it. It's make a great "office" display.
Dec 04, 2013

This was everything i was hoping it would be. Its not the sturdiest but i would definitely recommend getting one of these.
Oct 14, 2013

I have been looking for a real scythe for a while now for Halloween and this is an amazing buy. For the price it is definitely a steal especially for someone who lives in CA where you can not find a durable life like scythe without paying a couple hundred for one. The handle is made of a very durable wood and the blade itself is very sharp and convincing. The only problem I have with it is the black finish on the blade its bubbly texture is very tar like. Worth every penny I would have paid double for this piece.
Jan 10, 2013

This piece is meant to be for show, don't try to go and kill any trees or bushes with it. On the other hand, it finishes off my grim reaper costume quite nicely.
Sep 29, 2011

Btw, I'm 43 and didn't buy this to swing around and chop stuff up.
Bought for the visual aspect.
They were out of stock and sent the fantasy Scythe instead ( with my permission ).
That one is really cool. Won't stand up to any sort of real use, but looks freakin sweet.
Jul 13, 2011

this Scythe is menacing and amazing! but i must give it a 4/5 for 2 reasons. 1) there are only 2 screws holding the blade in place which makes it weak (i also cant get the 2nd screw in all the way but thats probably me) and 2) while swinging around scaring people last halloween the wood cracked a little where 2 polls come apart. so i suggest only swinging it when its in 2 pieces.
Jan 22, 2011

Awesome is all i gotta say. only downsides are dullness and the blade is easily bent. Purely made for show.
Nov 10, 2010

all in all it was a good buy. there was a couple of things i didnt like about it. like how the blade was only held i by two screws and its held in loosely. and the two wood peices that form the handle are rough and stained two diferent olors.
Jun 28, 2010

big as hell sharp ass blade the staff it self is bad ass but with the blade connected to it its kinda of flimsy but all in all 4/5 cause it a scythe and the price too
Mar 21, 2009

It's the best weapon for show I've ever seen. All of my friends were startled when they first saw it. As for the scythe itself, the staff wobbles quite a bit, and the point on mine was flatened. Probably damaged in shipping, but I don't mind.
Jan 22, 2009

Got this a while back. It was nice to have for that time but eventually I swung too hard in a field and it SNAPPED IN HALF. Seriously. Haha. Avoid hard swings. It snapped where you screw it in. Wood and screw flew everywhere. It sucked. Haha
Oct 06, 2008

A must have item for weapons collectors. Nothing speaks the true volume of a weapon's intended purpose than the weapon weilded by death himself. Possesing a rather sharp edge and sporting a point capable of piercing through plaster and drywall with ease (mine fell and went through the wall), this weapon is fierce enough to intimidate almost anyone. As most scythes are however, this one is very difficult to wield.
Jan 09, 2008

Mine was cool. It is really big but not sharp at all, although it has a nery good point. I wanted to get two to feel like mitsuhide akech from sengoku basara but that didn't wok out. If you wanted to use this as a weapon in the next zombie invasion you might want to find a new zombie destroyer because this thing just isnt practical, the part with the blade is very heavy(doi) and this thing is freaky to swing because the blade can end up face the wqrong way and tjings might end badly but all in all a cool product i still love it
Mar 27, 2014

very fragile handle. somewhat of a cheap blade but for the price a very good decorative item. easy to assemble and disassemble for carrying and storage, however something i would do differently is i would reinforce the handle so that it can handle the weight of the blade. stronger wood perhaps, or full tang handle. otherwise a very good product.
Nov 17, 2013

Wood was pretty soft and didn't seem very durable and defenately not razor sharp, but overall a nice display peice for a good price.i recommend picking one up on a sale if interested.
Dec 25, 2010

Awesome looking, huge, and razor sharp! however, when cutting apart a cardboard cutout, the joint where the two halves come together cracked along the wood, pulling the two apart after only ten to twenty medium strength strikes.
Oct 10, 2010

I was pleasanty surprised at how quickly it arrived (Not even a full 24 hours after I ordered), but a bit dissappointed with the construction.

I understand that, for 30 dollars, I couldn't expect a lot, but I was expecting a bit more. The scythe head wasn't a great fit; I had to grab the blade with a welding glove and pound the back of the staff with a hammer to get it in.

Also, for all the good the screws do, I might as well have used nails or pins; The holes in the staff only go deep enough for the screws to reach the blade, that is, there is no continuing hole for them to bite into and secure the blade better. This results in about an eigth of an inch of screw-head sticking out.

But, I digress. It was affordable, it arrived quickly, and Halloween will be awesome this year.
Jul 28, 2010

I'll give it a 3 since the scyth was actually so long, that it was cracking in the center where they connect. The screws to hold in the blade came loose really easily, and now I have a wobbly blade too.

Good thing about it is the thing really is epic looking, and the wood is strong.
Nov 06, 2008

it was awesome sharp put a good gash im my tin shed but the part the blade is attached to is kinda loose
Mar 01, 2015

wood seems strong but flimsy and will break. blade came a little muffed up on the sides. blade moves around even when properly screwed into the handle. minus about 10 bucks on the price and it'll work. snapped in half and spiked my leg through my jeans. at least now i can make the handle better :D
Sep 29, 2014

Looks nice for display or costume purposes, which is what it is intended for, but don't even think about actually swinging this thing. I took exactly one swing in an open space (not even hitting anything) and the wood where the two parts of the pole bolt together snapped. I didn't expect it to be actual weapon quality, but I thought it would at least be strong enough to swing around a bit.
