Kriegar's "Helden Rand" Kat Knife pays homage to a classic German military lockback folder - a favorite of troops hunkered in the harrowing trenches of World War I, on the killing fields of WWII and beyond. Slim, easy to carry and exceptionally rugged, the knife proved so valuable, it was even adopted by opposing forces and continues to be a military workhorse into the present day. Try Kriegar's modern reproduction, and it's easy to see why! Its blade is hard, resilient carbon steel, honed to a razor sharp edge. The drop point profile is exceptionally versatile, and the sturdy lockback offers added safety and the rock-solid stability of a fixed blade - vital for especially vigorous cutting jobs. More than a mere "historical replica," the Helden Rand - which translates to "hero's edge" in German - boasts the same level of dependability, strength and utility as the original. It's the ultimate discreet, easy-to-carry folder for all your cutting needs!

This knife lives up to the write-up. It is sharp, light weight, and thin (which makes it easy to carry). ' Definitely a great multi-purpose knife.
Lockback is solid - No blade play and detent is good; maintained by pressing the lock in folded position. Blade is SUPER sharp due to high carbon steel. Tip is shaped to a VERY sharp point. Review on Youtube said this is 0.24" thick, which is one of the main reason I bought this knife. It's about 3 & 1/2 quarters thick but feels like 3 due to routing of handle edges. Swivel post has a lot of resistence, desired. Extremely lightweight at ~86 grams. I can see this knife servicing me for years or even decades to come. Some even say it's better than the original?!
Great knife for the price.
Nice and tight, feels good in the hand and very slim, sharpened up enough to shave, probably going to buy another
Simply a very good single-blade pocket knife with an extremely low profile. A good grade steel, comes sharp out of the box, and can slide into the back pocket of skinny jeans. Drops into almost any pocket, purse, or bag. Nice at the price.
This is the third order I have placed for this knife. I previously ordered 4 knives and gave them to friends and neighbors. Now I have ordered 4 more before they are no longer available at this price. Got to remember to keep one for myself. This is a super knife; and everyone is very happy to receive the gift.
I'm a collector of all types of blades. I've given Mercators to friends and family and always have one with me. When I saw this Kriegar I thought it a good idea to try one out. Instead, I ordered two. Wow!!! For one fifth the cost of a Mercator it is every bit on a par with the big guy. I might have to order several more for gifts.
Well made solid folder. Unique lock-back design provides a confident lock and easy release mechanism. Razor sharp, light weight and glad there is no belt clip. I ordered three(3) more at the sale price. $9.98. This has become my every day carry.
I have been collecting knives for a long time--and this is the sharpest, one of the best made and easy carry knives I have come across. I have ordered another one.
I had a Mercator for years and when I saw this other brand Kriegar I didn't know if it would be as good but bought one .It is even better quality so I'm buying 2 more, one for a gift for my son and an extra for me. One of these knives has been with me for the last 30 years, it takes little room and holds a great edge.
Overall, a very good replica of the famous German Army Kat knife - the only negative is that the pins protrude too high on the handle. They should be smoothed down - impossible to do post manufacture without scratching the handle, which would be even worse.
Received this knife in site box razor sharp right out of the box does not weigh down your pocket
Just got this knife today in SHTF box. I am an Eagle scout(years ago) and this knife is one of the best that I have seen. I am also a Navy veteran and I wish I had this while scouting or in the nav. Outstanding little knife i will be buying more.
