Upon receiving this, I found out that the deer head and scabbard are both cheap copper plated plastic. The blade is completely flat/dull, but I expected that and I will take my dremel and whetstone to it to give the blade a razor edged sharpness. I will also apply a clear protective resin to the copper plated plastic areas, as some spots came with no copper on and the dull plastic showing through. Hopefully my war veteran grandfather will still like it as a Christmas gift.
