How are Spring Assist different from a Gravity Knife or Automatic Switchblade Knife?

Gravity or Switch Blade knives feature a button, level, or other type of switch that releases a spring pressure to automatically open the blade. On a Spring Assist knife, there is no separate button or switch. Instead, you apply pressure to part of the blade to begin the opening process. This is usually a small bump of metal which sticks out under the knife, making it fast and comfortable to use. Once you press on that part of the blade, it automatically opens and locks into place. Since the action of opening the knife is started by pressing the blade metal, instead of a button or switch, it is considered to bypass the laws which ban Switch Blade knives.

I began taking this knife to work with me more often because it seems more like a tool and less like a weapon so that my bosses wouldn't get all testy. Totally glad that I did because it just feels so comfortable and has a wide pocket clip unlike any of the other Vipers. It arrived razor sharp, is sturdy all around, and has a unique assisted opening system.

I originally bought this as a novelty knife for my collection however it has become an every day carry tool since the day I got it. The spring action is really clean and simple, no hiccups. And it came sharp out of the box.

perfect pocket knife would have preferred the stone polish(unfortunately not offered by this site) so the finish wouldn't be scratched off by sharpening or over usage but it is a perfect pocket knife. if you were using it for self defensive purposes because of the blade length it is more of a stabbing then a cutting though
