The Shikoto "Touchstone" Wakizashi is a masterpiece of traditional Japanese sword-making, embodying over 2,500 years of battle-tested craftsmanship. Handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, this wakizashi features a 19 3/4” T10 high carbon steel blade, clay tempered to create a tough spine and unrivaled edge retention. Its natural hamon line showcases the masterful clay tempering process, with a hardness rating of 62 HRC. The wooden tsuka, wrapped in genuine ray skin with a tea-dyed patina, offers a warm, rustic charm that contrasts beautifully with the black ito wrapping, while the traditional mekugi secures the blade in place. The intricate details of the sword are highlighted by a solid brass habaki, antiqued brass dragon menuki, and a solid iron tsuba with a subtle textured design. Housed in a classic black lacquered saya, the blade is protected with the same level of care and precision with which it was forged. Each Touchstone Wakizashi includes a certificate of authenticity, signed by the master swordsmith, ensuring the blade's genuine, hand-forged origin and detailed forging specifications. Sleek, agile, and elegant, this wakizashi is as formidable in combat as it is breathtaking in appearance.

Beautiful sword!

"I had previously bought the full size Katana design/version of this Wakizashi, and was very impressed with the quality, so to complete the set, I bought this Wakizashi. It is every bit as nice as the Katana! While the Katana is just a little too long to be swung in most indoor areas, the Wakizashi is just right. Both balance well and are surprisingly light, compared to some other Katanas that I have held and swung in the past. The finish is flawless, and both arrived promptly in very careful packaging (5 stars for delivery by Trueswords). I have yet to use either for cutting tatami mats (my intended usage), but they seem to be very sturdy and should be more than capable of that task. They both arrived with a razor sharp edge and fit perfectly/snugly in their sheaths. I intend to display them once I find the right wall display. If you are searching for a REALLY nice Katana or Wakizashi without paying $600+, these are 99% as nice for less than half the price."
