This M1850 Foot Officer's Sword was issued to all officers in the rank of Major and below, serving in the Union Army during the Civil War. This design would have been the one most frequently found on a Civil War battlefield. The sword had a 33 3/4" tempered carbon steel blade with US ornamental etching.
