The V-42 was designed in part by the Commanding Officer of the First Special Service Force, The Devil's Bridgade; Lt. Colonel Robert T. Frederick. The knife was designed and constructed with the sole purpose of battle in mind. This knife was the trademark weapon of the Devil's Brigade, and its members were trained extensively in the use of the V-42. Our historically accurate replica features a stacked leather handle like the original, as to be easily handled in cold weather. Each dagger offers a razor-sharp, double-edged stiletto blade that pierces through even tough materials with ease. Thumb notches are cast into the handle above the guard to keep the knife from slipping when wet or wearing gloves.

"Good knife for the price. Better than average leather sheath. Leather handle with steel brace insert. Full rat tail tang which is what this style knife is supposed to have. No welds, one piece steel. Tip is needle sharp. Blade is not, but it isn't a slicing knife. Easily sharpened. So it's a good knife.Really good. Especially for $19 or less. Stolen from the review from GAF - "An OK copy" below": If handle is lose, unscrew the skull cracker, tighten the nut, screw skull cracker back on." Because that's the fix. Five minutes if you are slow and have to find your crescent wrench. Well worth the minor trouble if the nut is loose."

An OK copy

"It's an OK copy of this military dagger. The case is totally wrong for this but remember it is an inexpensive COPY. Real V-42s are rare and cost $1000s. If handle is lose, unscrew the skull cracker, tighten the nut, screw skull cracker back on. It does fit into a M8 or a M8A1 military scabbard but not the way they did it. Sharp with a fine tip."

looks can decieve

"just like most of the people before me, ill say that this knife isn't all that great. it looks badass, the blade is decent. but that's where it stops. although, unlike everyone else here, I made mine AWESOME. I removed that "leather" handle material. that was a serious design flaw. I tightened the hilt, and what I did was made a killer paracord handle for it. I took some high quality 550 paracord, and tied a brown and camo 5x3 turks head knot. I tripled it, so the turk head was brown, camo, then brown. and with the spike pommel this thing NOW looks like a serious contender. though I put a lot of work into this handle,(and I'm likely biased) it now is definitely worth much more than the 13 dollar sale price. in fact, if I was to sell this I would suggest 25 bux. if you will look at all the comments, they all complained primarily about the handle, and not much else. in all reality this is now an awesome shank. unfortunately I don't know of anyway to mass market a turk head handle for this knife. I bet this thing would sell off the shelf. so unless you have paracord skills or otherwise know a way to re grip knife handles, you might want to heed all the other reviews. straight out of the box this knife is a solid 2 stars, after I got done with the handle, it is easy 5+ stars. I challenge anyone to check out what I've done and disagree. to bad I cant publish pics."

"poorly made replica. not even close to description. not a leather handle. handle turns. custom leather sheath is best thing about knife. and sheath is not accurate replica either. not happy. got what I paid for."

Worth the money

"Good knife,great sheath.The handle was lose when I got it but upon closer inspection found nut in spike on the end and tighten the nut that solved that problem,needle sharp on end."

Cheaper than it looks

"It's made out of cheap materials. It feels slightly flimsy in the hand as well. My handle isn't stacked leather either. It's this type of hardened resin or bakelite and right under the finger guard was the only piece of real leather but the leather seemed liked it was stamped out and it was glued all along the underside of the finger guard. I cut it all off and it doesn't look terribly bad. Decent hiking use and abuse knife. I don't expect it to last"

"Nice knife; appears well constructed, durable, and able to hold a good edge on the blade. Blade was dull when I first received it, which is okay. It only took a couple of minutes to throw a good edge on it. Good price, good product."
