I have wanted a Bowie knife like this ever since I watched the the movie with Alan Ladd in it as Jim Bowie this is a Great knife I just wish you would make one that didnt have the alamo and his name on it so i could give one to a friend with his name on it
Nice knife - but wood of handle is almost black, does not suite the knife well and has also and marks on handle and the small plate - therefore only 3 stars because of quality
I have looked for this knife for over 40 years. It is all I hoped it would be. This knife has been in movies and TV shows. It is not a true BOWIE, get the Hibben knife if that is what you want. ( I have both Hibben bowies ) The Expendables and The Old West. I never buy a knife that I can not, nor would I use
As a follow up to my previous review, I have to pass on a bit of knowledge, namely that this knife is featured in not just one but TWO movies that are totally unrelated!!!! Not only is it shown in the John Wayne classic "The Alamo" as advertised, but it is also prominently displayed in the "Iron Mistress", a 1952 movie with Alan Ladd as Jim Bowie. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only knife to have "starred" in two, unrelated movies!!!!
I collect knives. I am particularly fond of Bowies. I did not expect a movie replica display bowie to be so impressive and well made. This is one big honkin' bowie! Fit and finish are very good. This is a very good copy of the Iron Mistress type Bowie used in the original Alamo movie. Be careful opening it. It comes very sharp. Good thing I have band-aids, too.
I love this knife I think this the best knife I have ever bought I love the leather sheath the blade was a lot bigger then i thought I was going to be.
I was really excited when I received my Alamo Bowie. The quality and workmanship of this knife is outstanding. It has a great balance and the weight is just right. If you're interested in a great Bowie, don't miss out on this one. I couldn't believe the low price for this kind of quality. Harold
I have been looking for 45 yrs.(when I first saw the movie) for a replica of the Iron Mistress. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality and workmanship. Truely impressed with the weight of the knife and blade thickness. I hope a replica of the Rezin Bowie from the same film becomes available.
It is customary for most knives with a logo imprinted upon the blade to be for display or collectability only, often the quality suffering greatly, but such is not the case with the Alamo Bowie. The quality overall is equal to or superior to any of the "primitive" brass backed bowies that I've seen and is as pleasing in the hand as to the eye. Ironically, the only flaw is something that sets this knife apart from the rest, but it is also an easy fix, namely the leather restraining ties rather than the normal snap on the sheath, which is so flimsy as to be useless. Luckily, anyplace that sells shoe or boot strings usually carry leather laces that serve as an inexpensive and easy fix, something that I'd highly recommend.
This is the best bowie ive had. great workmanship on the knife and sheath I thought this would be a very heavy knife not at all just right weight I highly recommend this bowie to any collector its a true beauty
