Product Description
This stunning handmade Musashi sword features a hand-forged 1060 carbon steel blade that was made using age-old clay tempering techniques, resulting in a fully functional work of art. Authentic details such as the antique-finished tsuba, menuki and kashira add historic provenance while the brass habaki adds a splash of elegance. The handle is encased in genuine ray skin with cord wrappings. A hand-painted hardwood scabbard houses the 27-1/2" blade.

This is my first katana that i've purchase, so take that for what it may be. It came looking even more fantastic than it seemed online! the handle felt solid, no rattling or looseness, pretty much everything feels sturdy and strong. The only drawback was that they wrapped the blade in oil-soaked saran wrap, which must be for a specific reason, i heard someone else say theirs did too and damaged the blade, but i haven't seen any damage as of yet. Blade looks sharp, but not incredibly so, i tried doing a paper cutting test and couldn't make it work. All in all a fantastic start to my collection and definitely happy to call this my first Katana.

This was first purchase from trueswords and all i have to say is AWESOME. Nice weight, good blade length, excellent grip, cool sheath although blue is more my color, excellent material, Superb cutting. I have no doubt that this blade is as close as one can get to being unbreakable. My only minor criticism is the design of the guard. Its a cool design however if you're a swordsman who keeps hand close in contact with the guard, you may get uncomfortable rubbing/irritation. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WARNING: I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. THE BLADE WHILE NOT SHARP TO THE TOUCH, THE CUTTING EDGE IS EXTREMELY THIN AND THE TIP IS VERY POINTED. IF SOMEONE WERE TO JUST DROP THE SWORD, POINTED END DOWN, AT LEAST 1/2 AN INCH FROM ONE'S FOOT, THE SWORD WOULD PROBABLY IMPALE THE FOOT DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE SWORD. ALSO DON'T TRY HOLDING THE SWORD BY THE BLADE BECAUSE ONE MINOR SLIP AND YOU'LL HAVE A DEEP CUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Other than that, TOTALLY AWESOME. I would strongly recommend this sword to any first time sword buyers. Thanks TRUESWORDS.

Was skeptical about buying a katana at this price but saw great reviews about this on other sites so bought it and have absolutely no regrets. It feels substantial and balanced in my hands and came sharp and well oiled with nicely done intricacies. Gorgeous quality saya came wrapped in black cloth with numbered certificate also. Reviewed quality of 1060 blade and am certain for personal protection this will be more than sufficient if ever needed. Great for wall display also. Packed well by trueswords and fast delivery. Will be buying more soon. Thanks.

This sword is absolutely beautiful, especially considering the price.

- The says (scabbard/sheath) has a beautiful gloss finish, and you clearly can see the subtle patterns in the wood.
- The ito (wrap on the handle) is soft and tight, and it feels great in your hands.
- The blade is spectacularly crafted for the price, with a true non-machined hamon (edge of the blade). This blade easily slipped through a sheet of paper with very little force.
- The sword is very well-balanced, and is not top-heavy like some of my other swords.

If you are considering buying a $60 sword, I'd strongly recommend grabbing this model instead. I love my lower-priced Musashi/Musha blades as well, but this one is a clear step up and well worth the extra cost. This sword is an incredible value.

I also feel I should thank TrueSwords for making this product available at a great price, so thanks!

This is my first purchase from True Swords and just received this a few hours ago and i have to say it was everything i was hoping for and more! It came sharp, it looks amazing, and it's perfect for display or practice. Of course don't expect to cut through anything stellar just things you would normally cut with a katana or any other sword in this price range.

Everything i wanted and a lot extra, and it got here a day earlier than i expected!

Go True Swords, you've gained another loyal customer!

I just emailed trueswords.com thanking them for a wonderful product at a low price. The saya is beautiful, the sageo was tight, the ito was tight, nothing was loose, the hamon was true like the site said, as far as the edge....paper slicing sharp. I have yet to break it down but so far this sword is a STEAL for under 100 bucks. I have to comment on the little details the ray skin...love it....the wood grain still noticable....the bamboo in the iron all very beautiful. Love this sword.

I ordered this sword last weekend and I just recieved it a few minutes ago. With the weather being what is has been this week I understand why it was a few days late. Let me tell you it was worth the wait the workmanship and quality of this sword is amazing for under $100. It arrived razor sharpe and it truly is a warrior sword. Thanks True Swords I will be making another order in the near future.

This is an absolutely amazing sword. It has a well constructed and beautiful design. I've done quite a few cutting tests. It is in fact a very sharp blade and should be handled with care. I'd recommend this to any sword enthusiast. I'll post a video review of the blade on this website when I finish it.

this is my first sword so i was not expecting much but it is assume. there are only a few bad things the sysa is tit when trying to draw it but it can be fixed with time and when i revived it there was a patchy oil job and a lot of dirt on the blade. otherwise its a great blade for the price.

Incredible!....I ordered my Musashi Bamboo Warrior Sword (Red Saya) yesterday around noon, and I received it in less than 24 hours....what wonderful service!

I haven't had a chance to put it through it's paces cutting anything as yet, but in examining it, the workmanship is superb. Everything is tight fitting, the blade is razor sharp with authentic hamon, it is well-balanced, and it is a sturdy, battle-ready sword in every way (full-tang,1060 Carbon Steel, etc...) The saya is a beautiful burgundy color and well made, the blade is well-oiled, but with a quality shine, no dings or defects at all. The quality here really reflects a sword normally costing three times as much, and I am very, very pleased with this purchase.

The bonus of such fast shipping and careful preparation makes Trueswords one of the best of the best. I can't say enough about this company, and I will highly recommend Trueswords anytime. Definitely a 5 X 5 rating, if not higher!

My second Bamboo Warrior. The first one impressed me so much, I got one for cutting and one for display. The red saya is actually a tasteful burgundy candy apple color, which shows the woodgrain when the light catches it right.

If you are considering your first katana, avoid stainless steel toys, and get a real sword. This one.

I have had problems with UPS and FEDEX damaging shipments, so True Swords added extra padding at no charge. True Swords will treat you right.

Beautiful Sword for a ridiculously low price. The wood grain can be seen through the red finish on the saya which is a nice touch but also shows some knots in the wood. The brass fittings and iron tsuba are excellent quality for the price and the polish is reasonably even. The ito maki is very tight and even alternates, something I've only seen in one other Chinese reproduction katana. The sword is a little too light for Iaido practice but cuts very nicely. However, it took a set the first time I tried to cut with it. I was able to bend it back to almost straight. There are better low end swords out there but for this price and with a natural hamon, any sword enthusiast should own one.
Thank you, True Swords. :-)

This sword is beautiful and I love the design, weight and detail put into it. However the main problem is the disassembly, the very end of the blade being the part in which the hilt of the sword covers is slightly too wide for the guard and hilt making it very difficult to remove.

Removing it with the hands it nearly impossible, however upon looking around online I found a way to do so with no harm to the blade. Using a piece of wood specially carved to fit around the blade and press firmly against the guard, a few hits with a hammer and the hilt is pushed off without a problem.

Without this wooden tool however there is no way to remove the hilt for cleaning and oiling the blade.

A minor problem being the pegs that hold the hilt to the sword, however this is something to be expected as they are meant to hold the blade. Just place a small hammer tip that comes with a cleaning kit against the peg and a few taps with another hammer and they will pop out without problem.

If you do not mind these small set backs this sword if a beautiful piece and arrived fast and his battle ready, meaning the blades edge is very sharp.

4/5 for the minor set backs.

I ordered this mostly as "a wall piece that i could have fun with" it that's what i got. When i took it out of the box EVERYONE in my house instantly wanted to (can you believe it) touch the edge. Luckily no one got cut but I'm dissapointed with that. The "paper test" reviled that while the blade was really sharp, it wasn't exactly razer sharp. That and the hand guard not being easy to remove were the only things i was dissapointed with. The blade is nice and thick, there are no visible flaws (to me) and the hilt feels nice and tight, even after I took it off and put it back on.
Very sturdy build. Gread attention to detail and affordable.

This blade is a great buy and i recommend it, just know that swords aren't meant to be best quality when sold under $100.
