Top 10 reasons You Know You Are an Anime Fan

If you do any of these things on a regular basis then chances are you like anime...a lot.

Anime Anime captures the imagination of thousands of people across the world.

1. You are happier spending the weekend watching anime than going out
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the hiking trails are calling out and your dog looks like it wants to eat the couch. You know the type of day- the “it's too nice to be inside” kind. Well, you'd rather do exactly that, preferably armed with a sufficient amount of snacks and all the episodes of “Full Metal Alchemist”.

2. You have used the “I'm not feeling well” excuse to get out of doing something so you can watch a new anime
Your friends are hanging out tonight. You love hanging out with them, after all you are friends for a reason... but you've just discovered Bleach. There are so many episodes to get through. Oooh, and Dominos can deliver to your house- if you get your flatmate to open the door you won't even have to leave the couch. “Sorry guys...I'm feeling really sick, rain check?”

3. You have a favorite and are ready to fight (verbally...) to the death that it is The. Best. Anime. Ever.
You don't just like anime. You love it with burning passion- the kind only Harry Potter fans seem to be able to rival. If you could spend all day watching it, reading manga and researching the latest theories you would. Your favorite beats all the other anime out there. Anybody who thinks otherwise will be suitably educated. (Politely- because while you love deeply, you are also a lovely person and you could always secretly judge them if they are stupid enough not to like it as much as you do.)

Cosplay Anime costumes are elaborate and as true to a character as possible.

4. You get really annoyed when people don't know the difference between anime and manga
You know the difference between TV shows and books. How difficult is it for other people? You don't ask whether they read the latest episode of “Modern Family”.

5. You've been to a convention
You've spent time planning and putting together the best cosplay outfit you could manage. You've stood in line to get tickets (waiting on your laptop until they go live totally counts) and can't wait until the next time you get to reunite with all the awesome people you met.

6. You sometimes enjoy the company of other fans more than 'normal' people
Cosplay Anime conventions draw fans dressed as their favorite character.

You'd rather have a conversation about who would win in a fight between Naruto and Yagami than what's going on in “Real housewives”. The world of anime is so much more evocative, exciting and beautiful- sometimes it's nice being around people who appreciate that.

7. You are learning Japanese
Japan is a wonderful country with a storied history- who wouldn't want to learn more about it? (Is your line to anyone who asks why you are learning Japanese at the weekend.) It's not because watching anime in the original language will give you a better insight of the characters and what's going on- nope, definitely not it.

8. A lot of the music you listen to is anime soundtracks (and you are proud of it!)
Hauntingly beautiful music is one of the many reasons you love anime. It's not that you are a music snob- it's just that what's playing on the charts at the moment sucks and doesn't remind you of that couple you ship.

9. You've made fan-art or written fan-fiction
You've given your favorite characters the endings and partners they deserve or immortalized them through art. It's another way to connect to them and hey, it develops your creative skills.

10. You've daydreamed about hanging out with your favorite characters in their world
You've wondered what it would be like to magically transport into a realm where things are different. Where you have the chance to be who you want to be- to be a part of the world you love. That's the reason you are an anime fan- their adventures draw you in and you wonder what it would be like if that was you out there.
