A sword of elegance and simplicity! Shirasaya (Japanese for "white scabbard") describes a katana without a guard or traditional handle wrappings. This design was used when the sword would not be wielded for some time and allowed for storage without fear of corrosive damage to the blade from the usual lacquered scabbard. Our shirasaya katana provides a sword that is minimalist in theme but still a striking example of Japanese sword craft.

Nice

I'm happy with the sword. The blade fits into the scabbard very tightly and the finish on the handle and scabbard is nice. I took a few hours after cleaning off the blade sharpening it and it's pretty sharp right now. I don't know how far the tang goes back into the handle but I wouldn't trust it in a life or death situation. It fits into my umbrella stand very nicely though.

For 13$

The wood has a darker orange that laminates in the light like some nice furniture, I was expecting a much cheaper wood tone, very pleased. The habaki sais budk with the logo but doesnt fit the blade which is glued going in at an angle which gives it a look as if the original blade was taken out and replaced with the thin. For the price I couldn't have asked for more. There is much wax inside saya like mentioned in previous comments. Even my dad was impressed and thought the sword was worth way more.

This one I like. Dull, but easily sharpened. Nice feel/weight. Will buy another.

Best Zatoichi Replica

Closest resemblance to the Zatoichi TV/movie cane sword I have seen. Although blade is very dull and may be inferior in quality, it is the ONLY cane sword that even comes close (as far as looks and size) to the ones used in the TV/movies. It also fits smaller hands perfectly, unlike other cane swords I have that feel just too large in the hand to comfortably wield singlehandedly. Now if the blade could be replaced somehow with a higher quality metal, than I believe you would have the Ultimate true Zatoichi cane sword. Well worth the money!

ok

when i got this sword it looked just like the picture and it seems to be well made but the blade was dull so i know have to figure out how to sharpen it because i use these kinds of swords as protection when walking or hiking

Awesome

For $20 I was expecting a toy. This is a weapon. The picture makes it look yellow, but it's a light brown, real wood color. The Asian writing is printed on the wood, not stamped into it, so you can sand it off easily if you want. It needs to be sharpened and there's a lot of wax inside the scabbard that leave chunks on the blade, but that will die down over time. I highly recommend it!

Awesome

DARK

The wood is not a blond wood, but very dark. Not as pictured.

much better

This replacement is a much more suitable wall hanger, as it is not chipped up, and splitting. This is one I could show to friends as a fine example of BudK's low priced, handcrafted, carbon blades. Although the blade's lack of razor sharpness was at first a turn off, I've decided to keep it that way. The tip is sharp, & mean. Looks great amid tribal, zen, or other naturalistic room decor. A great blend of simplistic beauty & semi-functionality. Probably one of the best $20 katanas you can buy.

much better

eh..

Upon opening the box, I noticed a chip on the decorative side of the wood scabbard, with a hairline fracture beginning from that chip, growing each time the sword was removed/replaced within the scabbard. The blade sometimes wouldn't fit back in the scabbard either, which tells me the laborer who handcrafted this screwed up the original boring of the scabbard, having to redo it a second time. The blade was so loaded with wax, your enemy would laugh at you if you brandished it. Of course, the blade was super dull. The natural feel of this sword's handle was great, (there was no wobbly blade) but expect "rustic" construction, with quality either lacking, or grossly varying from product to product. I got this item for display purpose, and sadly found too many imperfections about it, rendering it worthless for that purpose. I've returned it for an exchange, and am currently waiting for them to send a Timber Rattler Ninjatō, which has a tougher scabbard made by a reliable machine.

eh..

Shirisaya Ninja Katana Sword

This Katana is a good addition for using as a home defense item. It is cheap and made of high carbon steel (not stainless). It can be sharpened and will hold a good edge (if properly sharpened). The wood scabbard and the wooden handle make it look as if it is a wooden practice sword so it can be left out in plain sight while hiding it's true purpose.

Shirisaya Katana Sword

This sword is a nice addition to my overall collection, I have been collecting as a hobby for many years, as a display sword, I have received many compliments on the simplistic nature of the sword and scabbard. The sword is simple in its construction, not sharp but with time and work it can be and for $19.99 this is a low cost for new collectors. I will recommend this sword to my other collectors

This sword is great for the price first of all. But there is two problems...

on the side of the blade it say " HANDCRAFTED IN CHINA"

and blade is not as polish as I like it to be.

but it is good for the price I say you should buy it.

This sword is for looks only unless you only plan on cutting cardbored and paper type material. It is not a Musashi sword and is not full tang.It is only half tang, but a good buy for $20 all around. It can be sharper if you want it to be but I have this sword only for looks,is what it is meant for.You can also use it to practice swing to get you're wrist in good shape for a better and more heavy real Katana.

It got to my house before I was even awake. I love the fast shipping... The sword itself is nice and light. I love how it looks it unsheathes nicely and fits into the sheath nice and does not fall out. The blade is nice and not wobbly kinda sharp but I didn't buy it for use. All in I love the sword and I am glad I got it. This is the second sword I bought from this site will buy from here again.

This is the first sword ive ever bought. and i was kinda disappointed. The blade is a little flimsy, and the blade gets crap on it from the sheath. I tried to polish and put oil on the blade but every time it comes out smudged and covered in stuff. it is a good display piece and looks very nice but thats about all.
