I'm very happy with this, it does sharpen very well, the stand is a little wobbly but you can just put something under it. The DVD that comes with it is not an instructional video but gives you an idea of how you'll need to use it.

This kit just came in today and i'm really excited to use it. very compact and small, more so then one might initially imagine. I like this because you can store it and its not in the way or difficult to transport, the whole kit weighing prob no more than 10 pounds.

after fooling around with various ways to clean and maintain my swords for over a year now i'm very happy to finally have this kit which will make the whole process much easier and orderly

aside from all the compartments for the items that came with the kit there is also ample space for other equipment such as extra sandpaper, sharpening/polishing stones, and spare parts for your swords

Here's my review for the product:

1. Shipped very quickly and arrived at my house in a timely fashion.

2. Very ornate look, a nice display piece and accessory to any sword collection.

3. Its compact, which is nice for individuals who don't have too much room.

Conclusion: All that you really need to do is learn how to use this kit properly so as to avoid damaging your blade and you'll be good to go. Good piece of kit for its price.

I just got this today and I'm loving it! Much smaller than you'd think it to be, but that's good, I can store it anywhere. I would definitely recommend this kit to any sword collector.

It was a good buy. All the tools were found as displaied and it's compact. With my living arangements it's all too perfect for me. ^_^ there's just one thing I saw that was nowhere to be found. I didn't get the DVD that was supposed to come with the kit. It's no big really; I can figure it out on my own. I just wish I got the DVD to make the experience. lol

Superb packaging by Trueswords, seems to be something they do very well.. Now to the product it self.
*Bucket is not watertight at all/has several pieces broken off at the bottom.
* The wooden box it self has a couple nicks here and there but nothing to interfering with the functionality of the sharpening stand. I should mention it came with some sort of blackish residue, I am not even sure what it was.
* The sharpening stones are good, and definitely cheap. Of course, can't expect much @ $35..
* Sandpaper of course is always cheap :P, the company blue dragon is a company I have not heard of.
* The over all design of the box in the inside is pretty good, everything fits which is all I can say... However durability/material quality wise.. that's a way different story.
* Not particularly worth shipping back.. Hopefully it doesn't break after prolonged use, I may just use it as a decoration.

I have fairly good extent of experience with wood, this type of wood work was done rather in a hurry with no attention to detail in corners.. Even at the price point of $35 it is badly constructed. Had I know it would have been this type of construction (contrary to other reviews), I would have made it my self for about the same price maybe a little more $$$ considering shipping but much higher quality material as well as more stone/sand paper and a functioning bucket, heck I would make that out of wood but prefer a larger plastic bucket :P..

I definitely would not recommend this to any serious sword sharpener or polisher. Do it yourself, nothing beats knowing yourself the quality of the craftsmanship.

2 out of 5, only because it will serve as a good decoration in the end.

i just got this a few days ago and it has vary fine stones and sand paper and it got my swords sharp again in minutes and i mean razor beyond razor but the downe side is that the wood it is made out of is vary soft and brakes vary easly and the littel wooden pale that comes with it does not hold water at all so don't wast your time useing it but still dowen side and upside it is still a good kit to have and get for the price

very fast shipping i say this is a good buy for sword collectors and enthusiast the only thing that wasn't really good is the video with the guy just using the kit it doesn't tell how to properly sharpen a sword but there's always you tube for that but overall great buy.

It has everything you need in it, save oil and water. my only complaint is that the "Instructional DVD" is not instructional at all. it's basically some guy's home movie burned to a CD-R. 4/5

Very nicely made, however I failed to read the size on the bottom of the product information so I thought it was going to be a bit bigger. That's MY fault though. The product is great, I haven't yet needed to sharpen one of my swords as I do not use them often, plus the swords I get come sharp. (thx Trueswords). However I didnt need any sharping done when I ordered this, I really just wanted my display wall to have a little extra something added to it.

Overall I'm impressed with this kit.

The materials are all top quality and the bucket is water-tight which I was skeptical about when I first saw it.

This is smaller than it looks lol And the "instructional dvd" is a burned cd-r with a VCD that doesn't explain anything, it simply shows a guy using the kit on one area of a katana blade. And the video doesn't show him use the 1000grit paper at all.

The cabinet holds everything securely which is great. It has a beautiful dark stain on the wood and opening it you feel like you own a piece of real traditional japanese sword-making equipment.

The wood still has that fresh "I just got cut from the tree" smell and the cabinet has a sliding/removable door which was a very nice touch.

I only give it 4 stars because of the DVD thing. Otherwise it would be 5
